  1. Lincoln was shot...the Titanic sank....The Grapes Of Wrath by Steinbeck was published.
  2. He was a member of one of Knight's big-time recruiting classes. Before anyone says anything, I'm not calling them the best, greatest, or obviously most successful recruiting class. But they were highly decorated coming out of high school. It was coach Woodson, Indiana Mr. BB, Butch Carter, Mr. BB Ohio, Glen Grunwald, Mr. BB Illinois, plus Derek Holcomb All State Illinois and Mike Miday All State Ohio. They looked formidable on paper. Woodson was 6-5, Carter was 6-5, Grunwald was 6-9, Holcomb 6-11, Miday 6-8. They were expecting great things from this group, but Grunwald blew out his knee, Carter struggled playing out on the perimeter, Miday couldn't handle Knight's coaching, Holcomb had foot issues. It just never came together for this recruiting class. But Mike Woodson lived up to his billing and had a tremendous career at IU.
  3. Sigh....all you kids. 71 and counting. 😂
  4. He said he sat in his car and went through his messages on his phone.
  5. If you check Wally's stats, he was a decent ballplayer. I made up the curse thing because his name just feels right for a baseball curse. And one of my memories from that time (1960-61) was hearing Waite Hoyt, Reds radio announcer, talking about how Wally was pretty good at lifting fly balls over the 42' screen out in leftfield, which was only 251' down the line and 320' to leftcenter.
  6. It's the curse of Wally Moon...and baseball being played in the LA Coliseum. 😜
  7. 1986....Seve hits into the pond and Jack gains momentum to win his 6th green jacket.
  8. I always thought FDR appeared older than 63. My wife says it has a lot to do with how people dressed at that time.
  9. My my...it's just become interesting. 😁 Oh my...splash!! Too bad, Xander.
  10. No one to really challenge him. Other than the initial scare, it's been a fairly boring Sunday at Augusta National. Matsuyama has been steady...workmanlike.
  11. I'm looking forward to it! Golf is possibly my favorite sport for tv viewing.
  12. Matsuyama seemed to adjust his game to the changes after the rain delay more quickly and accurately than all the other players. His shot making was phenomenal during the back nine. Will anyone challenge him today? If so, who will it be?
  13. You sure Ra isn't entering the transfer Portalet? That sure looks like a tp dispenser on old Ra's noggin. Wipe like an Egyptian. 😝
  14. The Reds are enjoying this weather. "You can tell your old aunt Hattie, this year in Cincinnati.... what a team, what a team, what a team!!" 😁
  15. I never really understood the Brannen hire? NKU to UC? The AD who hired him bears some responsibility here. A quick, cheap hire with bad results. JMHO
  16. "Looking good, Billy Ray!"..." Feeling good, Louis!"
  17. I'm 71 and had nothing more than minor soreness at the vaccination site for both Moderna 1 and 2.
  18. Yeah...had just a dusting on my car. But hey...it's Opening Day here in Cincinnati. Baseball season! "You can tell your old aunt Hattie, this year in Cincinnati, what a team, what a team, what a team!". Yeah...people sang that little ditty back in 1961...but not recently, that's for sure!
