I understand, but my thinking was this, CJ might not give you better offense with the starters than Mac, but the starters don't need as much offensive help as defensive help. CJ at least brings defensive energy and quickness to what seems to me is a less quick starting lineup. Again, what do I know.

Obviously I know nothing, so take it for what is worth, but it sure seems to me that Mac would be better suited (at least right now) to playing with the second unit. He would more likely be the go-to offensive option and get more shots. He would also, hopefully, be playing a second unit defensive assignment. Who you put in to start I don't know, but CJ would be my first option.

I can't remember the time or score, but there was one play that really impressed me. Cupps found himself on defense under the basket and blocked a shot, and i was thinking to myself I couldn't remember the last time I saw any older guard on the team, block someone's shot at the rim, but he just happened to be in the right place at the right time and got a piece of the ball. That to me just kind of says it all about the kid -- be in the right place at the right time and just make the play that is there to be made.

Saw Jakai Newton walking without a brace, crutches, or limp, really. Any word on whether he will soon get back to practicing or is he a sure redshirt at this point ?

Really discouraged. There is nothing really to say. Bad coaching all the way around. Two TD's for MD after receivers were 20 yards behind the defense. Two fourth downs where the call was so bad.

Just listened to the interview with Tayven. Really confident, yet humble. Another great kid. You really root for young men like Tayven and Sorsby. Really hope this team does well this year, because I can see high school youngsters and transfers wanting to play with these leaders.

As a B1G guy in SEC country, I tend to agree that the B1G should be in better shape money wise, but SEC people believe that adding Texas and Oklahoma solidifies the SEC hold on national championships for the future.

Heard the radio interview TJD gave after his debut that was captured on another fan site. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it, TJD may not be the greatest basketball player to ever play at IU (although he is close), but he is certainly one of the best young men to ever represent IU.

Don't know if anyone is continuing to follow this thread, but really like what the Pacers are doing in free agency. Topin and Brown would be excellent additions.

So Tshiebwe is a fit but TJD is not ? Pacers just didn't think their fans would approve of a similar agreement with TJD ?

If you are FAU there are always a number of plays that make a difference in a one-point loss, but I thought FAU lost it on the defensive glass. I think SDSt. rebounded five misses on one trip late. Also, things get magnified, but Goldin missed three straight free throws, I think a oneandone and a two shot over the limit, when FAU could have put some distance and didn't. Also, I told my son seated right next to me that they shouldn't shoot that last shot without the buzzer going off in mid-air. They shot too early and paid the price.

I had the same impression. The thing I think needs to happen is that TB should start over TG. I think its worth a try to see if TB gets into the game easier and earlier. TG then does what he does best, bring a spark.

Agree with all of this, certainly didn't get enough from MK, TG and JHS, and Trayce and Race did not block out well, for sure, but I think it goes further. Miami was supposedly one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the ACC and yet they killed us. To me, the Miami coaching staff must have seen something that they felt they could, and did exploit. This brings up another coaching point, I read somewhere that Laranaga made a game plan switch at the last minute to double Trayce with a wing, rather than the 4-man (Miller), so they effectively had three men in the lane against Trayce. While the players certainly deserve some criticism, it seems to me maybe we were out coached. Of course, as I say all the time, I'm not now nor have I ever been a coach, so what do I know ?

Said to my wife that I still remember watching that game 7 when I was 13 years old. Really stoked my love for basketball.

I was thinking about this. Probably a topic for offseason, but have you notice that when we beat good teams, the players give credit to the coaching staff for a good game plan. However, Coach Ya is the only one i seem to remember getting thanked. That leads me to think that other coaches are not making great scouting and gameplan reports.

I didn't think it was in a bad spot, he just drifted, as he does when he is dribbling. If he sets his feet, as he had time to do, he probably hits that shot and its a big momentum swing. Really disappointed that no one all year coached him to stop that.

Hope you are right about Coach knowing what we need, because it is hard to think that watching us get jobbed by smaller, quicker players

couldn't agree more. Rayce I thought carried us until maybe into the second half. I, too, had been critical, perhaps more of the coaching for playing him when he wasn't in shape, but he played with great intensity and really got out to challenge the outside shooters
