I agree. This team has to get up and down the floor to win games. They have to get more shots up and they also wear down the opponents on the defensive end. The more I watch the more I want to see Landers get a shot at the start of the games. He’s young and needs reps. He also brings a different floor vision that fits the faster pace game. As for Kopp. I think trying Bates or Geronimo to start where matchups will allow it will also create a new look for opposing defenses. Adding X and Kopp to the second squad could also help that spark off the bench. Thoughts?

I’m with ya on Pitino. That was my point though lol. A good coach can squeeze more out of players than the players themselves knew they had in them.

Iona would take IU straight to the woodshed. 11-2. Beat then ranked 15 Alabama and went toe to toe with Kansas. Think about their talent level. I wouldn’t bet against them vs Kentucky or Purdue this year. How did they learn how to win already? Ol’ Ricky lit a fire in their pants that’s how.

I can relate to this. I have some elderly alum family members that say the same. A couple of them had season football and basketball tickets for as long as I’ve been around that have either given them up or they give them away every season.

To be clear, and if I may try and speak for those lashing out… The pitch forks have been out for 20 years or better. Admin and staff and come and gone leaving nothing worthy of celebration for the fans that have sustained the curse. As I’ve said before, each year the rope get shorter. Sure, there are quick over reactions and sometimes to a silly level. That’s just passionate fans caught up in the moment. If only we could get the recruits to hold such expectations. That’s the staffs job though. If and when the crying stops is when the brand is officially dead. @FKIM01 is spot on. Miles Brand and some ‘everyone gets a trophy’ professors and BOD murdered the program intentionally. They hated Knight and wanted to deemphasize the energy around the bball team. That’s been hashed out over and over. Dead horse. The program is going to be better I think. There are a lot of pieces in place for that. Maybe we have expected to much to quickly with this staff? I’m also hanging on to the fact that we have Matta. @Parakeet Jones having been to some home games may understand the value of Matta. The dude is full of energy and passion. I like the team. I like the staff. Losing is part of it but I hate losing winnable games.

Random thoughts. I’m working on a project tonight so that’s where my thoughts are. Folks that are upset is a good thing. It shows they care. For as long as this program has been in the sewer, there are still fans hanging on. When it quickly turns to apathy is when it’s sunk once again. Each year, the rope gets shorter. I didn’t feel these guys had much emotion tonight. A bit from Trace and Race at times. Maybe Rob trying really hard for a couple minutes. X is a 50/50 guy. Staff has to bring him off the bench or something different. It’s just who he is. They have to figure out how to utilize the good and reduce the bad. This teams guard play is still hit and miss. I can’t imagine being any worse off getting reps from the other players on the bench. Maybe I’m wrong but I see great potential in Bates and Geronimo. Every game seems like a replay minus the opposing teams jersey. Tonight’s game in particular, was a near copy of last seasons results. I’m speaking of players and staff here. All that randomness said, it’s clear that IU still sucks on the road but there are plenty of games left to make up for this one. 🤞

Second half I’m going with Race, Trace, Bates, XJ and Stewart to start. Strength, confidence and the best ability to score the ball. I don’t think I would ever rest Trace and Race at the same time. At least for any length of time. I feel like this teams ceiling is much lower when it gets stuck in the half court mode. Defense and quick transition offense. Let’s go!
