  1. This. The Karlaftis pitch of "come take over for me", should be "come get double teamed and isolated like me."
  2. Absolutely. If Brohm doesn't get things turned around immediately, it's real easy to add Strickland to Bell and others as cautionary tales of talent wasted on a sinking program.
  3. It's gotta be tough for the top in-state kids this year. IU is on a roll and has historic momentum. The recruiting class is historic as well. CTA has established a family culture that is lauded by the national media as genuine. You can join your fellow Hoosiers and be a part of history, or miss out. If he goes to Stanford, and it isn't a fit for some reason, he could potentially transfer to IU. He could join the team, but he wouldn't be a part of the famed 2022 recruiting class. If he goes to Purdue, because that's what mom wants, he'll play on a losing team in a weak division and stare at ugly girls for 4 years. Good luck with the decision!
  4. Man, you're all over recruiting. Much appreciated!
  5. I was just a freshman spectator, but that game was a roller coaster of emotions at the end. That tourney run was epic, especially the big win over North Side. Have to believe there was a good chance you guys could've made a similar run to Whitko's, but they sealed the deal. Cheers and thanks for the memories.
  6. And he had to check his gait due to sideline congestion while decelerating. That increased the stress forces on his ACL greatly. It really was a freak incident.
  7. Another good take. The timing is perfect to have a coach like Woodson that runs his program like a NBA franchise. Build profiles and relationships. The days of shaming a recruit that rebuffs you Painter style are over.
  8. This is a pretty solid thought process. Obviously the easy money is on him going to UK. But after watching how Cal recruits and uses players, if Sheppard isn't Tyler Herro from the jump, he will be under a microscope. He will be compared to his dad AND Herro. I've already heard several UK fans make that comparison. If, however, Sheppard is a normal freshman, and his playing time is less than what fans would like, Big Blue Nation will be all over Cal for not playing Sheppard more. Could be a challenging situation. If he were to transfer due to being disgruntled, that would pull down Cal's standing with fans even more than it already is currently.
  9. I remember the Snider/North game with Vaughan Dunbar. Both undefeated, and they had to bring in extra bleachers for the crowd. Great football.
  10. I recall reading how much she loves sports, and how engaged she is with the programs. It can't be stated strongly enough how much that kind of support will mean for our programs. Welcome Madam President!
  11. Absolutely. And don't forget Mike Hawley. That program has had great leadership and really kept their tradition and principles strong for decades. Quite impressive.
  12. Both of these are good points on basketball and football. If the B1G wants to get serious about leveling the playing field with the SEC, we need to play by the same rules. We put ourselves at a distinct disadvantage by playing more conference games. They use their 4th non-com game in football almost as another bye week.
  13. Thanks! Used to play PAL games at Snider years ago. Moore has the physical tools, and will have good technique and work habits going through Snider's program.
  14. Maybe Vaughan Dunbar put in a good word for us:) Snider is a football factory. The press will good for us in the Fort Wayne area.
  15. Agree on the civil engineering if that's a priority to him. Completely disagree on the second part. Comparing the Ohio State fluke to the well rounded momentum we have going isn't realistic. Do you really feel confident your current roster and recruiting will surpass what we have going on right now? Not what if's, but probabilities. The only advantage you have is playing in the west.
  16. Why stop there? What would our ranking be with Curry added to Moore and Strickland? I set no limits on CTA!
  17. I think he would have to really be drawn to Purdue the school. Pretty hard for any objective person to expect they will be more successful than IU the next 4 years. Plus, the brand you create by playing in the East is undeniable compared to the West based on names and markets. Of course, kids are kids, so who knows?
  18. Still remains to be seen how Davis can coach. Could be a stud or a dud. No one knows.
  19. I believe Jeff Sheppard. And yes, that guy had hops. Mom was quite an athlete too. Sounds like son may be similar with a better shot.
  20. Been with the kids all day. Completely missed that one!
  21. This could be the new style of recruiting. If you know a kid is likely headed out of state, build a relationship in case of potential future transfer, but don't waste too many resources. If high level recruits don't get the minutes or usage they desire, they're gone. Time will tell if it's now more like free agency than old college recruiting.
  22. Look at someone like Schianno at Rutgers; the grass isn't always greener at a perceived better situation. What CTA is building is real, and part of what's special is he is a homegrown Hoosier that has worked his way up. He would be just another coach with crazy expectations at Bama/Clemson/Oklahoma or another perennial power. He is a legend if he continues to coach, recruit, and produce results on the field. Lock him up with big money!
