Mike Anderson suing St. Johns for wrongful termination.  St. Johns hired Rick Pitino.  Anderson's termination letter has the highlighted language.  I repeat, St. Johns hired Rick Pitino.

UConn went that route with Ollie, too. Kind of pathetic, if you gave a coach with a ridiculous buyout clause, don't try and blame the coach when you want out.

I think part of it is a turnover in coaches and coaching philosophy.  Izzo, Painter, Gard, and Piekell are never going to change style.  For Painter and Gard, it's the only way they can win.  Izzo probably plays that way because it wins than it is a necessity like it is for Painter and Gard.

I do think this is a big part of it, too much focus on defense. And a lot of that is because the league isn't getting the top players/athletes. When you are limited in those respects, the path to winning is by slowing things down and playing tough defense. Also as you mention, a lot of these guys have systems that they coach/recruit to because it works to get them 20 wins but tends to fall apart against better teams. And I also think this leads to the "overrating" of the Big Ten because these teams tend to be older and thus ahead of the game in Nov/Dec where they pile up some good wins that jump start the overall conference metrics. But by March the SEC type teams have jelled and the talent wins out.

More specifically, the conference doesn't have enough good guards. MSU has the best group and that's a big part of why they made it to the next weekend.

Basically, people, including the committee use whichever metric aligns with the narrative they support.

I call BS to ranking/seeding/selecting Team A based on Quad 1 wins, but ignoring that same metric when evaluating Team B.  And, that is what is happening.

    No.

In your first example of Memphis/Xavier you picked 2 teams essentially equal in NET/metrics but with a large difference in resumes, i.e. Q1 wins. And they ended up far apart on the seed line (3 and 8).

So then you found 2 teams very far apart in the metrics and also with the same (opposite) difference in resumes and guess what? They were very close in seed lines (6 vs 7).

Go examine the bracket matrix and you'll see that these 4 teams ended up exactly where 100s of projections predicted they would. Are all those bracket prognosticators also falling victim to this conference bias? Seems unlikely IMO.

But based on my experience arguing this topic, I doubt you'll be convinced. Same with the conspiracies about the committee "creating story lines" with seeds. 😄

Not Big Ten or Big 12, but I found these two teams side by side in the NET.  Explain the seeding of these two teams on anything other than conference reputation.

For reference, the last 4 columns are Quads, the 2nd column is Road record, and the 3rd column is neutral site record.  Based on all visible 'metrics' they claim to use in seeding, Memphis is the equal of Xavier.  Would Xavier still be playing if they were a 9?  Would Memphis have been more successful as a 3?

These types of seeding discrepancies are 99.99% the result of conference reputation.

So, yeah, I have no desire for IU to be the Memphis in a Big Ten with an AAC reputation.

    9 Q1 wins vs 4 is a huge difference.

Then explain to me TCU & Iowa State.  Do those overall records get you a 6 seed if they were in a different conference?  Of course tthe conference you are in plays a part.  I don't care what their handbook says.

I mean it kinda did this year because just about every B12 game was Q1. B1G had that advantage the past few seasons but not this year.

Typical March frustration from the dude. Happened last year. Come to think of it the year before that and the year before that....noticing a trend.

To recap Underwood at Illinois. Ayo and Kofi masked a ton of coaching deficiencies. It took Underwood 3 years to put Ayo into the 2nd round. Kofi nowhere to be found. Embarrassing exits to Loyola, Houston, and now Arkansas. Transfers, kids leaving....seems like a great foundation over there. Haha...

Ah yes, the Kofi/Ayo thing. You forgot that part gotta meet the quota. 🤣

Kofi is playing in Japan because the NBA doesn't use guys like him. That's why he ended up at Illinois in the first place.

It's like you skipped Basketball 101, this is remedial knowledge my man. But I love that you drag it out every time.

    🤣

    Did SFA Commit violations? Yes

Was Underwood at the school when the violations occured? Yes

    Did he leave SFA? Yes...

That's what he said...He didn't accuse Underwood of anything other than being at the school while violations were committed, and then leaving...Fact...

Well not quite. Certainly implied when he said:

"Underwood has left every program he's coached at under probation or violations"

So yes, SFA committed violations, not Underwood. Glad that's cleared up.

@Seeking6 simply said every school he's left was under or preparing to be under NCAA sanctions... That's simply a statement of fact...

    No, that's not fact.

I thought about responding....but why enter into debate with someone who is obviously blinded to facts. Nothing to gain from that at all.

When you can't argue facts usually name calling is the next option but that typically stops (for most) sometime around the jump from the sandbox to training wheels.

LOL, the irony is delicious. So tell me what violations Underwood committed at SFA?

And what did you say about the "look in the mirror thing"?  Yeah IU fans could certainly stand to do a bit of that given the character of some of their coaches.

Just for sake of conversation....Underwood has left every program he's coached at under probation or violations....not to mention his pitstop at KState with the Beasley stuff as Director of Ops.

Not saying the other guys haven't had their own errors but please don't act like your guy is Mary.

    I haven't

And implying he had anything to do with what happened at SFA just dhehwbchebwhfhebe
