Just because they beat you?? What do you think of the West Coast teams moving in?

The times they are a changing!

Deal with it, the times are definitely changing and you can either enjoy the ride or you can reminisce in misery!

No, because they beat us repeatedly! Like Brad can't figure it out! 😡

But seriously, I've always hated conference expansion. Maryland belongs in the ACC regardless of their hoops results against us. Their terrible fans should be taunting Jon Scheyer! Rutgers belongs in....dunno, the A10? Patriot League?

West coast teams should be playing other west coast teams.

What?  I am a sports nut and I can’t recall anything that bizarre.  What did he do?

It sure smacks of “we are losing on the road anyway, so let’s suspend him there but we might win at home so let’s keep him active at home.”

Michigan makes a mockery of themselves.  Makes it hard to root for them.

I had heard rumors that he was in trouble academically, so maybe he's got to stay home and work on his grades?

Shannon’s TRO seems like a hail Mary and longshot.  He has to show likelihood of success in court on the merits of the case.  That seems far fetched if you read the affidavit.  She has no history with him or axe to grind.  Her facts are very detailed.   It’s a tough read.

Women unfortunately do make false claims.  But in this situation it’s hard to find a hint of it.  No money grab, jealousy motives, scorned female, etc.   She has literally zero reason to make this up.

The TRO has nothing really to do with the rape case itself. He's claiming the UI policy does not afford him due process by its lack of transparency or opportunity to present his side.

It may indeed be a long shot because he's claiming irreparable harm from the suspension and not sure that claim can be validated as it's more likely the criminal charges themselves are causing the harm, not the suspension.

Agreed that he was good at Iowa State, but I guess I’m just not impressed with his Nebraska tenure. They exceeded expectations last year because he’s put together bad teams. Again, he still hasn’t had any teams that were as good as the last 2 teams that got Miles fired. So he’s literally taken over for a coach that was deemed bad enough to get fired, and been worse than him for 4 straight years. That’d be enough to get fired from a lot of college programs.

Like I said, I like their team this year, so maybe it just took him awhile to get going, but I’m not convinced.

He thrived at ISU because he was ahead of the curve utilizing transfers. Now this time around everyone is doing that so probably took him some time to adjust.

  5. UNL played some really good, physical D and made a ton of 3s. Seems like a winning formula. 😁 Love watching Tominaga do his thing. And Fred's kid is contributing way more than I ever thought he would.

Pretty severe regression to the mean for TKR after he killed the Illini.

Looked like in this report the cameras didn't catch the act? That's unfortunate. Maybe I read that part wrong. Some of those clubs/bars on those game days are insanely packed.

Nothing on video, no witnesses. Unless there's additional evidence it's his word against hers it seems.'

TRO hearing got bumped to federal court due to Title IX implications and it scheduled for Friday.

Good luck with that one. Illinois or not if the kid is innocent I hope he gets cleared. OTOH...the PR (which I know Illinois leadership worries about) is certain to cause some backlash. Tough call for Whitman.

For sure. Even if he gets the TRO it's hard to imagine him in the lineup with an outstanding rape charge, even if he's innocent. I've read a bunch more including the accuser's affidavit and all of the TRO filing detail and still have very mixed feelings. There doesn't seem to be much actual evidence in the affidavit but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Am I crazy or could that have been a hook and hold on Goode since he wrapped both arms around Edey?

Or a hook and hold on Edey since he used the swim move on Goode's head.

On a related note, I've seen a couple hook/hold reviews this year but don't think I've seen any called. And still no flop technicals. Hawklins begging for one was hilarious.

Curious to hear what y’all thought of the Jones technical?

I've seen fouls called in that situation many times, never a flagrant though.

Lots of strange things last night, Edey getting 4 called on him, has to be a record?

Didn't anticipate getting crushed on the boards like that, Kaufman really had a nice game.

Disappointed that Brad didn't have a better answer to Purdue's strategy of not guarding Rodgers. It was discussed a ton ahead of the game by Illini fans, so pretty obvious it was going to happen. And he admitted he knew it but then just "didn't practice it enough"? To come back out in the second half with Rodgers out there again was puzzling.

Illini hung tough which is great but that first half was perplexing from this group as well.

He shoots 5 3 pointers a game... That would lead IU... And is tied with Coleman and Goode on your team...

I've watched them play a few times, including both of his 30 points games... He's much more effective in the mid-range and dribble-drive from what I've seen...

Sure he has shot a lot of 3s but with Shannon out he's done more mid post stuff. Using him a bit like PSU did with Pickett last year.

"That would lead IU" Pretty low bar to clear... 🤣

How are you feeling about tomorrow’s game? What do you think are some of the keys? I feel like Hawkins could be a problem for us if he’s hitting from distance. But hopefully Edey gets him in foul trouble.

Well, never feel good about a game in Mackey. And still trying to figure out how good this team is without TSJ. Might be a little bit of a letdown after a big effort Tuesday. Illini are a tough match up because they have so many options. I've seen some suggestions that Purdue will leave Edey in the lane on defense and let Rodgers alone since he's not a perimeter threat. If so then Illini will have to counter that. I'm expecting Hawkins, Dainja and Hansberry to all play and get in foul trouble. And Illinois will try to take advantage of Purdue's tiny guards.

The length of Illinois seemed to bother Boo….couldn’t find a matchup to exploit

Switching 5 ways instead of drop coverage

Overall Illinois got a pretty good whistle last night, but Boo still manages to get an inordinate amount of gifts from the stripes.

One play, he shoved Harmon with both hands (no call), turned and ran directly into Hawkins and fell down. *tweet* Foul on Hawkins.

The only match up he exploited was late when DGL got a few minutes.

Not related to the ongoing games, but the Terrance Shannon redacted offense report if anyone is interested.

So much of that report makes no sense. Alcohol a factor in one charge, not the other? The incident started and 30 seconds later it's reported? Probably just a botched job when someone filled it out I guess.

Eh kinda. If we are honest with ourselves about the difficulties of winning on the road, we need to really look at what home games are quad 1.

Currently you’d have Purdue, Illinois, and Michigan State as our only remaining Quad 1 home games. Michigan State is barely Quad 1 and my guess is they’ll either fall out OR that will be an incredibly tough game by March. Illinois… kinda think the same thing, depending on how they respond to the Shannon situation.

Illini don't visit Bloomington this season so you'll have to beat us in Champaign.

Bottom line for IU right now is they need to beat some teams that will be in the tournament and it looks like there may only  be 5-6 of those in conference this year. Some road wins over the other bubble teams would help, too.

Read this article that says a conduct panel would be convening and could possibly reinstate Shannon...

"Shannon was suspended indefinitely but Whitman said the university will respect "due process" and shed some light on what it may take for Shannon to return to the team.

"Ultimately, one of two things would have to happen," Whitman said. "Either the conduct panel would have to vote to return him to status during this interim period, or there would be some resolution of the case in the legal system that would open the door for his return."

If the case is resolved, that's one thing, but if the conduct panel would reinstate him before it's resolved, doesn't that kinda fly in the face of  this?

"Athletic Director Josh Whitman said the school has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct."

Yeah was covered in detail in his press conference. I can't imagine any new evidence coming to light that would cause the panel to lift the suspension. Way too much risk.
