  1. I had heard rumors that he was in trouble academically, so maybe he's got to stay home and work on his grades?
  2. The TRO has nothing really to do with the rape case itself. He's claiming the UI policy does not afford him due process by its lack of transparency or opportunity to present his side. It may indeed be a long shot because he's claiming irreparable harm from the suspension and not sure that claim can be validated as it's more likely the criminal charges themselves are causing the harm, not the suspension.
  3. He thrived at ISU because he was ahead of the curve utilizing transfers. Now this time around everyone is doing that so probably took him some time to adjust.
  4. UNL played some really good, physical D and made a ton of 3s. Seems like a winning formula. 😁 Love watching Tominaga do his thing. And Fred's kid is contributing way more than I ever thought he would. Pretty severe regression to the mean for TKR after he killed the Illini.
  5. Nothing on video, no witnesses. Unless there's additional evidence it's his word against hers it seems.' TRO hearing got bumped to federal court due to Title IX implications and it scheduled for Friday.
  6. For sure. Even if he gets the TRO it's hard to imagine him in the lineup with an outstanding rape charge, even if he's innocent. I've read a bunch more including the accuser's affidavit and all of the TRO filing detail and still have very mixed feelings. There doesn't seem to be much actual evidence in the affidavit but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
  7. Or a hook and hold on Edey since he used the swim move on Goode's head. On a related note, I've seen a couple hook/hold reviews this year but don't think I've seen any called. And still no flop technicals. Hawklins begging for one was hilarious.
  8. I've seen fouls called in that situation many times, never a flagrant though. Lots of strange things last night, Edey getting 4 called on him, has to be a record? Didn't anticipate getting crushed on the boards like that, Kaufman really had a nice game. Disappointed that Brad didn't have a better answer to Purdue's strategy of not guarding Rodgers. It was discussed a ton ahead of the game by Illini fans, so pretty obvious it was going to happen. And he admitted he knew it but then just "didn't practice it enough"? To come back out in the second half with Rodgers out there again was puzzling. Illini hung tough which is great but that first half was perplexing from this group as well.
  9. Sure he has shot a lot of 3s but with Shannon out he's done more mid post stuff. Using him a bit like PSU did with Pickett last year. "That would lead IU" Pretty low bar to clear... 🤣 Well, never feel good about a game in Mackey. And still trying to figure out how good this team is without TSJ. Might be a little bit of a letdown after a big effort Tuesday. Illini are a tough match up because they have so many options. I've seen some suggestions that Purdue will leave Edey in the lane on defense and let Rodgers alone since he's not a perimeter threat. If so then Illini will have to counter that. I'm expecting Hawkins, Dainja and Hansberry to all play and get in foul trouble. And Illinois will try to take advantage of Purdue's tiny guards.
  10. He mostly works out of the mid post so if you sag off you'd be under the basket? Maybe a bigger defender like Mgbako could bother him but then again, he's only a frosh.
  11. Overall Illinois got a pretty good whistle last night, but Boo still manages to get an inordinate amount of gifts from the stripes. One play, he shoved Harmon with both hands (no call), turned and ran directly into Hawkins and fell down. *tweet* Foul on Hawkins. The only match up he exploited was late when DGL got a few minutes.
  12. Underwood was asked about not subbing earlier in his post game presser and if it was impacted by NET's use of efficiency margins. He was pretty direct in acknowledging it's something he's very aware of.
  13. Well? So much of that report makes no sense. Alcohol a factor in one charge, not the other? The incident started and 30 seconds later it's reported? Probably just a botched job when someone filled it out I guess.
  14. Yeah I believe the strength coach is still not back with the team? I hope they keep him around a long time.
  15. Illini don't visit Bloomington this season so you'll have to beat us in Champaign. Bottom line for IU right now is they need to beat some teams that will be in the tournament and it looks like there may only be 5-6 of those in conference this year. Some road wins over the other bubble teams would help, too.
  16. Yeah, Kriisa, Battle, Farrakhan, Akok all missed a bunch of games.
  17. Eh, that's nothing. When Weber was coaching Illinois you'd see him out on the court grabbing guys and moving them where he wanted them to be.
  18. Yeah was covered in detail in his press conference. I can't imagine any new evidence coming to light that would cause the panel to lift the suspension. Way too much risk.
  19. Yep, the AD specifically mentioned the incident occurred in public at a bar. Even said it was "inappropriate touching". I was floored hearing him say this stuff. To be clear, the skepticism was over the initial info they got in September when they found out there was an investigation by the Lawrence PD. That's why they did not suspend him then, only when the actual arrest warrant was issued as that was the first time they had any idea of the severity of the charges. And as I said, knowing the way our AD deals with things it would be very, very surprising for him to say some of the stuff he has. I understand the notion I may be too optimistic about this but like I said even best case he's probably done as an Illini anyway. We'll see what happens but there's a lot of stuff going on with the DA as well, she's on very shaky ground herself. Meanwhile on the court, Rutgers barely escapes a 2-12 Stonehill team missing multiple starters.
  20. Having listened to the UI AD's press conference, I feel very comfortable how they've handled things and it's pretty clear reading between the lines that there's a great deal of skepticism of the validity of these allegations. I was expecting a fairly routing recap of timelines, inability to comment on an ongoing investigation, etc. But he went into quite a bit of detail about what they knew and even validated what I had believed to be a crazy internet rumor concocted by desperate Illini fans. Our AD has a law degree and is a very intelligent guy so isn't someone who would be taking many chances without having his facts together. And he's put in place a very thorough process to handle these types of situations to remove the DIA from the decision process. Still unfortunately it's almost certain TSJ's career as an Illini is over but maybe some hope that he's not guilty or maybe guilty of a less serious offense.
  21. Yes, it's a tough situation. Even if he's innocent, his Illini career is almost certainly over barring something very unusual. He's just following UI policy here. Prior to the actual arrest warrant, it allows the student the right to due process. Hell no Setting aside the severity of the allegations/incident itself, another gut punch to an Illini hoops season. Just unbelievable.
