Actually no! Some teams that you don’t match up well with also don’t match up well with another team that beats them before you face them. 2002 had a lot to do with other teams!

That’s one thing that gets talked about a lot but not in the grand scheme of things. How teams progress in the tournament are affected by player matchups, defensive and offensive scheme matchups, does a team that is a bad matchup get knocked out by a different team? However, what officials show up or how they officiate has a big impact on the tournament results. Not only does the committee go out of their way to put IU and Kensucky in the same bracket, but how much do they put into which officials do which games??

Remember other than the serious upgrade of JHS over Stewart this is the same team that barely squeaked into the tournament last year. Top that off with losing our starting point. Will be interesting to watch next year with an entirely new starting 5.
