  1. You’re lucky, my friend had the surgery and still has issues!
  2. Going to have to build on this for those that have never been exposed to it in the extreme that I have! My friend is a 2nd grade teacher. She told me the story of a boy she felt she was finally getting through to. Suddenly, the switch turned off!! Worse than having no one in the family to help him learn his family and friends turned on him!! You think you’re better than us? Peer pressure! I don’t know the solution but most of our so called experts and worse politicians don’t even know what the problem is!
  3. I’ll agree with that wholeheartedly. However there is also the economics of affordable food. From friends in the education system I would hear stories that the meal the kids ate at school was the only meal that had each day. Kids would beg to get an extra meal to take home to their mother because she didn’t have any! Yes a lot of it had to do with bad choices, but how can you/we understand what it’s like to be illiterate? I pondered for years how can this be with the public schools available. And before someone starts blaming the teachers and administrators, the ones I know are of high character or they wouldn’t be working there. The problem comes from the old adage “education starts in the home” but if everyone in the household is illiterate?????? Now I have to apologize for getting us into education! What is this thread about again?
  4. I did not take it as you were mocking, my apologies. Your post was just the best Segway to say it’s a very real problem. My friend used to work for me, we had to setup an FMLA (family medical leave account) for him just so he wouldn’t get terminated for missing so much time.
  5. Chronic sinusitis is bad! Imagine having a brain freeze that doesn’t go away! That’s how bad it gets! I had sinus issues when I was a teenager. Thank fully I outgrew it to the point that I still have chronic sinusitis but at least I don’t have the headaches! My friend had surgery to clean out his sinuses and surgically open up the openings so his sinuses would drain better. It’s not something to kid about or mock!
  6. It’s not just cities, the county I lived in Georgia. Was one of the most economically depressed and illiterate counties in the country. I had it from several friends in the education system that literally half the county was illiterate!! The local Grocery was definitely not high quality food and once again probably half the people checking out were using EBT cards. And yet the next county North where I worked was part of the Hollywood of the south scene!
  7. Oh God, don’t get me started on the NIMBY’s, or the atrocious disparity of income for executives! You can’t tell me an IO is 1000 times more valuable than a manager that also has an MBA!
  8. Agree with you, but the solutions run much deeper than just throwing money at it or opening more centers and resources. Just like people with addiction the suffering have to learn they need help before they’ll seek help. I don’t have the answers but someone smarter than me needs to figure it out instead of wasting more resources that aren’t working.
  9. I wonder what he thinks about Edy being able to intimidate those he goes against???
  10. I wished my favorite barmaid Happy Valentine at lunch today. Does that count?
  11. I watched a whole Superbowl for the first time in many years and still here we are?????
  12. On a darker note and mods feel free to put me in time out. After watching the game live yesterday I’m feeling a bit frisky! Yesterday’s game aside, but am I the only one that got a sense of anti white men with the Super Bowl entertainment tonight? The singing of America the Beautiful, the all female flyover, if there was a white man in the halftime show I missed it! (Have to temper this as I thought that was one of the best halftime shows ever and I do like Briana’s music!) You can go back to some ancient posts and realize I’m not one of those. More because I’m aware I see it for what it is, and racism goes both ways!
  13. I said you critique, (almost incessantly!) I’m out, no need to get the mods any heartburn.
  14. And yet you continue to critique IU like they are the second place team in your sons little tikes basketball league?
  15. One wonders how much their draft stock will improve under Calimari’s tutelage? I hope all the 5 stars are taking notice! Edit, for those 5 stars? How is NC and Duke doing this year!
  16. It’s almost as pathetic as soccer players acting like they’re dying and then jumping up and running around like I could never do!
  17. Most people were saying to win the game we needed to hold Howard down. Kopp did exactly that!
  18. You probably didn’t see it on TV but I looked to the bench when the referees were waving off that last basket. There was CMW and I believe Coach Yaz giving each other a hug. That combined with all the groans by the MU fans all around me was a beautiful thing!
  19. At the SW gate I’d say it’s about 50/50
  20. There’s a few IU fans here already, but gates don’t open until 5?
  21. Finished the Amazon series “The English”. First since Covid I’ve become an emotional basket case, so it’s no surprise I ended this in tears. However, if you have any interest in how America treated the First Nations? That being said, this is an individual emotional exploration!
  22. Hopefully they don’t get poorer officiating at Iowa than they got tonight!
  23. Watching the Women’s Maryland/Northwestern game and the stands are empty! As a former non revenue sports competitor spectators need to…. stop being self involved experts in their favorite sport and learn to enjoy all sports!!!
