  1. Not gonna indulge Peacock. I’m going to listen to Don Fischer and follow the Twitter thread. Hopefully they can dictate the flow of the game- if it’s pounding inside, there’s a chance. If it is a perimeter game, not as much of a chance. It would be a great time for TG and MM to get hot from 3.

  2. Not time to hit the panic button just yet, but…

This is eerily similar to Archie-coached teams by being disjointed on offense and making really bad teams look like superstars.

The Buster Murdaugh look alike on Army had what will probably be his best game this season, ans was talking a lot of crap at Assembly Hall. Reminiscent of the Ft Wayne  debacles.

I’m not overly concerned about MM at the moment, because I consider rather than being suspended, he was just given a really short leash? This is at least my hope. In the RMK days, it was called the “doghouse.”

We have been in this position before, and I think we all know that there are going to be some big-time losses coming up if things don’t turn around.
Hopefully, by conference time, these guys will gel, but at the moment, yikes.

  3. Man….. extra long day at the office and I come to check on my online “safe space”, with 15 pages added since my last check in, and I thought surely something good has transpired. Nope.
Losing out on some of these guys that Twitter said we were getting stinks. But not to this level. Maybe there is something good headed our way. Not ready to throw in the towel on the 23-24 season in April.
i admit it’s hard to see a path to a National Championship without a wing that can shoot, or with 3 open roster spots. Not even the B1G. But, lots of season left, especially since the season is months away. Knecht isnt coming either, so Twitter says, lol. Hang in there, everyone

  4. I think in our limited experience with the portal we all have learned one thing: silence is usually not good. The longer these commitments take, the more suitors can come in and make better offers. There was a lot of smoke On Twitter about Ledlum, Kneecht (sp) and Ware to IU. We got Ware, but I am not going to count on anything else until I see an official commitment. We do need some shooting, for sure. Panic mode? Probably not…….yet

  5. As someone who once gave “inside info” only because of a friendship my wife’s family had with a player’s mother, I can kind of understand some of the cryptic posts. You do not want to cause your source problems by revealing too much. My problem isn’t really with the cryptic posters as much as the posters who take scant cryptic information and run with it. Our fanbase is desperate for good news ( I guess myself included) and the Internet shows it. I can only imagine what some of these players think when IU fans start editing them into IU uniforms etc. Wonder if we have scared any one off?

  6. Haven’t chimed in yet, mostly because of having to work on a holiday, but I’d just like to remind all of us fans who are desperate for relevance and success at IU, and some kind of “proof” that we are “back”, not to count on any of this until there is official word that someone has committed. Not necessarily this site, but #iubb twitter was a mess last night, IU fans even tagging Ware in posts. I’m hoping for good report, but I fell for the Love/Battle rumors. And maybe there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and things change rapidly, but I’d just like (myself included) us to exercise some restraint. Maybe the last 20 years has given me PTSD? ( who has a pic of the famous triangle?)

Let's be clear. Dan didn't just fall for a tweet from a fake account. He saw what he thought was Jeff Borzello reporting news and tried to pass it off as something he was hearing from his sources. Everyone gets duped by fake accounts at times. Shame on those accounts. Chasing clout by pretending you have inside information when you know nothing at all? Shame on you.

As far as I am concerned, couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy. Especially after the way he recently went after Kopp on social media. Makes me wonder if DD scares potential recruits/ transfers away.

  8. Is this where we do the post mortem for this season?
As I was grappling with the game and trying to allow myself some rest, I came to the conclusion that we did about as well as could have been expected. XJ’s injury was much more impactful than we wanted it to be, because before the season started, we thought depth was a real strength.
    The positives:

TJD became an IU legend, and may be useful in the future since NIL has come into play, to speak on the benefits of maybe staying in school and reaping the benefits. He’s one of my all time favorites now, even without any kind of championships.

CMW and staff made strides. Hate it that Fife and Matta left, but I saw improvement in several areas. Still not sure why there was not more line up tinkering, especially at the beginning of the 2nd half.

When RT went down, I was not sure if IU was going to win another game. They did a fantastic job of salvaging the season and there were stretches in games, even games they ended up losing, where they played really well.

    The negatives:

Lost too many games. It still seems like there was a mentality with this group that losing did not have any repercussions, and that they would get them next time. NW, 1st Iowa game, and several others were games that we just didn’t close out.

Injuries. Weight programs or low top running shoes aside, ;) ,we have another IU season where we can say “IF (insert name here) didn’t go down, we would have ( insert expectations here)  X’s injury was the big one, but don’t forget we essentially lost Logan for the season from some kind of respiratory illness. Race was not the same after his injury. TJD missed a few games with a bad back. JHS missed games. I think someone said we only played 6 games with a full team.  There are those who say “next man up”, and “no excuses”, but come on, I think this team would have lost less than 8 games with a healthy team. Something no one ever fully has, but still…

Player regression- this really bothers me, because Bates and JG basically became unplayable, and this is not the trajectory we foresaw for them this time last year. It seems like several players made little to no improvement, and even took a step back. I thought Leal, aka “Tony Buckets”, would morph into a player after his performance at Iowa as a freshman.

I have other positives and negatives, but just thought it would be fun to get input on the ‘22-‘23 season…

The amount of ankle sprains so far in the tournament has been terrible. I can't help thinking that the slick floors they're using is contributing to this issue.

It’s almost like the grounds crew from the Super Bowl is working the NCAA. Also, I have never been a fan of the low cut shoes they are all wearing, I think that contributes

  10. A thought occurred to me about the impact of the NIL rules- it essentially leveled the playing field versus whatever Cal used to do to get the top recruits. One reason we are seeing so much parity in this tournament is because the top talent is being spread around more. Cal was always more of a recruiter than a coach. It’s fun to watch them implode. Now, if IU can just win tonight, it would give us something we haven’t had against all of our rivals in either end of the state for a long while- bragging rights
