DD lives rent free in way to many peoples heads. He’s lived Indiana basketball for longer than just about anyone at level that most people couldn’t even imagine. He’s grown frustrated over the years with the amount of players that haven’t played for the university and more about themselves or just didn’t seem to care about winning. Does he go about things the right way all the time? No, but he’s given more of his adult life to the basketball program than a lot of people and yet people like to say he’s bitter. Seeing Indiana good just means more to him. I’ve seen it with other people at other levels of athletics many times.

Whether he’s your 1 or 2 you’ve got to have a player of similar abilities but probably some different skill sets to compliment him. I understand building through the draft and this is deep WR class but you never know how the draft will fall and sometimes that backfires. Some of the TE and receiver contracts have been rather reasonable but yet it sounds like the Colts haven’t really targeted them.

The M’s have given the Reds a list of about 5 players that they can scout and evaluate and then pick which one they want. They have 2 months to decide who they are going to choose but could pick at any time between now and then.

Castillo, Mahle, Gutierrez are the 3 I’d say are almost locks. Then Sanmartin, Greene, Lodolo, Ashcraft, O’ Brien, Marinan, and Santillan will compete for the last 2 spots. They could still add a veteran to compete as well. I’d guess they are Greene and Lodolo’s spots to lose.

It’s only a month before because of the lockout. This would’ve been done in January if not for the lockout. The Rays trade players on expiring contracts for prospects to develop in their farm system. It’s the way they’ve been able to stay relevant and Gray only had this year left on his deal. He also wasn’t nearly as good last year and was inconsistent.

Likely because they know what Boras is asking for and they no they aren’t going to offer that.

No it’s not. The Reds were always going to trade Gray and wanted to open a rotation spot for Greene or Lodolo. They got a prospect that has the potential to be special. Yes, he’s a prospect but it’s what the Reds have to do if the want to be able to compete consistently. It’s the same thing the Rays do year in and year out.
