Why would we want to hire a coach that loses in the first round

Because he has a 30 plus year track record of success…even recent success. Knight lost in first rd..Coach K has. It isn’t a habit…he has two freshman and a sophomore guard and that happens with young kids…the difference with Woodson is that he has none to little track record as a coach…and it’s mostly mediocre to poor nba and college. He is also a lazy recruiter who doesn’t care enough of his players to call them up once a week even to see how they are doing and keep them engaged…Pearl has an endless motor and is recruiting better now then he ever has. He also doesn’t think basketball is best played through the post.

If all that isn’t enough Pearl doesn’t talk in the third person. Case closed.

Nope I will back my team no matter who the coach and players are. I might get upset on how they play but will never leave my team.

Boycotting and supporting a change isn’t leaving your team…in fact if you look at it closely it’s the most selfless love you can do to support them. Taking away voluntarily the thing you love most to sacrifice for the greater good of that very thing you love is the greatest fandom you could show!

That was #69 on my list.. I stopped at 68.

    Plane needed tires.

My YouTube tv plus internet was significantly less than cable tv & internet…its much harder to watch basketball 4 way but football on sat and Sunday is life changing!

oh man.  don't start this again.  don't start me dreaming again.

Well I thought that was what this thread was for lol…I don’t hate Woodson…but he isn’t going to take us to the top of the mountain. We all hated the hire but we put up with it because it was suppose to be a bridge hire…a short term fix…so how long do we gotta put up with this?

  5. Stupid I know but could we cut with the charades and throw some crazy money at Billy Donavon (maybe leave him an out for an nba job he wants) and put in a huge buyout for UK? Just want someone that is proven and respected. Seems like the NBA thing has run its course too.

He finally has a coaching staff that believes in him............

funny thing is the two p6 guys have done nothing and the rest of the team got hot from 3. Is what it is but the 3pt shot is such a game changer it’s sad we don’t embrace it and want to play 1960s basketball.

He better take the payday if it comes available. I don't care how frugal he is or how old is bike may be. Take the $$$$

Yep…flash in the pan. Brought all 5 starters back and didn’t win the conference…had some horrible losses this year. Shouldn’t have made the tournament but got a gift then knocked out by a very mediocre to poor Northwrstern. I don’t get the love.

I don't think Walker has to be that at all, I think he can function inside an offense pretty easily.

But if UK can make it work with Reeves, Dillingham, and Sheppard we can make it work with three guards.

Difference being UK guards go 6’3, 6’3, 6’4, 6’6 with nba talent and athleticism. Quite different from a suspect 6’1 and 6’3…as I don’t think either measure to that size and neither would be able to switch 1-4.

Now not saying I don’t prefer a 5 out offense or similar spacing but we definitely need to make sure the construction of the roster fits.

So with Cal getting embarrassed in the Tourney once again will he take his ball and refuse to play tournament games anyplace other than Rupp?

Says he is going to mix in some seniors and probably older portal guys to even out his young rosters. He said that for years. His problem isn’t youth…it isn’t talent…it isn’t getting kids to buy in and play hard…its simply being outcoached.

I 100% reject the notion our fans are “toxic” and any comparison of our board to RR. It’s probably the one thing that boils my blood as quick as anything related to IU basketball these days.

Agreed…lived in Kentucky for about 15 years…nothing is further from the truth. What’s worse is most have no experience even playing the game so not only are they ignorant of the game but there is a huge racist streak with much of them (treat the players like a bunch of thoroughbreds and not humans) and yes when they attack they gang up and harass and threaten to a level only a couple here would do. While we b!tch and moan and complain we are miles different. We just want our program to be accountable for what it’s putting out on the floor.

Very much like Reggie Miller coming off of downscreens and popping out for threes. They ran a lot of stuff for him too. Old School and very effective. Their coach ran a clinic last night. Not only on the offensive end, but KY never really figured out Oakland's zone.

They’ve run that junk defense all year. Cal had a week to prepare for it with the best players in the country and failed as usual. Just a terrible x/o coach. Hell of a recruiter.

  12. I know we’ve all been keeping a close eye on a certain coach down in Florida as the heir replacement…but I’m going to go out on a limb and say there is another we should be keeping a close eye on. Todd Golden…watched a lot of Florida games this year and the growth they have taken is note worthy. Nothing is happening this year regardless but another successful season and I’d be willing to move him up pretty high on my coaching search list next year. Just a name I think deserving watching.

The issue with Reneau is overall fit, not offensive statistics. If Reneau could defend the 5 then he'd be a no brainer building block given his offensive prowess. The problem is that -- rightly or wrongly -- the widely held perception is that he can't be a quality defender and rebounder at the 5 without consistently being in foul trouble. Thus, Woodson feels compelled to pair him with a rim protector. But covering Reneau defensively like that not only exposes him against 4s on defense, but also clogs up the offense with two post players.

Again, Reneau is a fantastic scorer. I don't think anyone is denying that. Some just question whether he can be part of a championship level team given his other shortcomings, especially given how Woodson seems determined to use him.

    Well said.

That kind of attitude has ruined a many good thing! Take this board for instance, it seems about 2/3rds of the board have lost confidence in being able interact without the never ending smearing going on! The only ones left are the smear Queens and those who will support IU no matter how bad it gets.

This board is exactly like all the other IU boards…and it’s a direct correlation to IU athletics…all that is left is the hard core fans…so good and bad extremes are the likely result. Any “normal” “regular” fan has long since lost interest in anything IU. The school athletics just aren’t relevant for them to be engaged…so here we are…with only us crazies left to care.
