  1. Indeed...very talented young man. Honestly all these guys are too young to be getting rid of. Turner is only 23...people flake because he has played 4 seasons but he came in as a baby...just now getting his body right and improving his defense. I don’t trade either...why?? When others zig we zag...nothing wrong with 3 good bigs. We have plenty of cap space to land a max level player plus fill out the roster. Sabonis is best a 4. He doesnt protect the rim. He has short arms. I agree with someone else who said you play Myles at the 5....let this new kid back him up and then you play Sabonis at the 4 and use Warren and Leaf as stretch 4s. I’d like to see us land Russell who can score and also play off the ball at times especially while Vic is still out. Holiday is ready to back up the point. Use remaining cap for a defensive wing and more guard depth. I hope KP pulls off a better offseason than last year. We will see.
  2. I predict more of a Thon Maker trejectory.
  3. Robbie Hummel led team USA to a 3-3 world championship. I rememeber playing Gus Macker back in the day....fun times!
  4. I was interested in him because he can block shots and shoot from the perimeter but found out his medical wasn’t clean and heard he was down to 208...think he has lost 30lbs since the injury.
  5. At one time there were some rumors the Spurs were interested in Bogdonovic and wanting to trade Derozan. Not sure how to make the money work...we’d have to do a sign and trade but Derozan makes 27 mill a year....but he would be a certain upgrade. Not sure I’d want the 4th pick...seems to be a drop off outside the top 3.
  6. I trust Danny’s drafting....almost impeccable...his aquisitions of Kyrie and Heyward lm not so sure about. I can feel him getting desperate seeing Raptors, Bucks, and Sixers all leap frog him and Brooklyn isn’t far behind. He has all these assets but they just don’t fit right.
  7. Perhaps...but more likely status quo affords them to be good enough to put butts in the seats but no risk of fielding a championship competitor. They had an opportunity with Vic out last year to move valuable pieces whose contracts were expiring to acquire draft capital or a young player from playoff teams that need help now but they decided to go after a mid seed to ensure they kept their seats full and get some playoff money. So instead of going after a lottery pick and who knows maybe ending up with a top 5 pick and moving guys like Bogs, Young, and Collison to give guys like Holiday and Leaf and company more time to play and get some more capital they went for the money knowing full well without Vic they had no shot. So yes...status quo...just do enough to compete but take no chances to try to be special. Here’s hoping Pritchard can convience Simon’s to take some chances.
  8. Don't forget.....Kyrie has already had some major injury concerns...missed many games already and at 27 in the midst of his prime actually decreased in scoring etc last two years...would cost starting out at 32 million. Russell....23 years old...hasn't missed any time...scoring avg jumped 6pts per game (so improving)....might be able to be had for less than the max...but at the max 27 million....saving you 5 million a year for other players even if you max him out. That's a more complete picture.....I'd be scared of Kyrie's history...runs out on Lebron...locker room issues in Boston...injury issues....lot's more money. Yikes!
  9. Pacers....most likely to re-sign their own and run them back out there in an attempt for 4 seed and rake in the cash from a few home playoff games.
  10. Agreed...I expect then to split up the money...see them going after second tier guys in FA like Mirotic and Lopez to help space the floor....maybe bring back Caldwell Pope to maximize their space.
  11. The trade is announced to take effect on July 6th...they will have roughly 24 million to spend. That ain’t landing you Butler. They can’t go over the cap to sign someone else’s players. You can only go over the cap to sign your own. This isn’t baseball. This isn’t football...it’s in the middle. You can only exceed the cap to re-sign your own players. Lakers only decent player left is Kuzma...and they don’t want to move him. They can still sign some guys on below market deals to play with Lebron but it won’t be a max player like Butler. Lakers need to be smart to put some shooters around Lebron...can’t shoot their wad in one guy. Even with GS out id still take several teams ahead of Lakers.
  12. Lakers only have a little over 24 million to spend. They can’t go over the cap to sign new players. They can’t afford another max player like Butler etc who would be over 30 million. The only trade piece would be Kuzma who they like to keep especially since he is on a rookie contract. Lakers would be better off giving out 1 year contracts and splitting that salary up for shooters to put around Lebron. They are incredibly thin so they need to fill out a roster. Signing one big name guy would leave them nothing to build with. If they want to sign a star they are better off trying next offseason when they have more flexibility.
  13. Gary huh...going to be tough to get him down here in Bloomington. Imagine we don’t have a lot of recruits from there. Kid definitively sounds like he will be special.
  14. Congrats to the raptors...that was a good team win. I hate injuries playing a part in it but then again who knows what the Pacers do if Dipo wasn’t hurt. It’s part of the game...just hate to see it ruin a great ball game.
  15. This is what the finals have come down to...Green, Cousins, Jerebko, Livingston, and Cook?? Sad
  16. I know everyone is sick of GS but I love Klay Thompson...just sad they can’t catch a break. Had he not missed game 3 they might be playing for a championship tonight. Hate to see it end like this.
  17. You have him for two more years and then he is restricted free agent. So you do what you did with Myles. Offer him a mutual favorable contract to sign early next year. You beat him to free agency. If he stays a back up you can control his worth in free agency. Even if he breaks out he is restricted so you can match. Pacers can keep both if they choose. Myles is on a good deal...even if Sabonis gets a max we could still keep both but at that time you could still trade Myles if he isn’t cutting it. No reason to get rid of either. We have cash for both.
  18. I think Turner and Sabonis complement each other perfectly. Sabonis primarily runs with the second team so his numbers are typically going to look better against backups but also we have Turner who can step out and hit jumpers on pick n roll and Sabonis who will battle bigger centers. I don’t think either will break the bank and good bigs are hard to find. Much easier to go out and find a plethora of guards and wings. Going the Conley route who while still very good and a feel good story to bring him back to Indiana it just doesn’t make sense financially nor fit with his age.
  19. I’m not suggesting he is going to be a star or anything but he is a positive piece. You build off that. If I was pushed to go after a pg this offseason I’d go for Deangelo Russell. He can play off the ball when Vic has it as well. Young and a good scoring option to go with Vic. Bring back some other good pieces...East could change up again with Milwaulkie having so many pieces to re-sign...Kawhi might leave...76ers who knows. East might be up for grabs...Pacers should make a move while Vic and this nucleus is together.
  20. He is still just 23! You want to give up on a gifted 23 year old kid for a guy that is on the downside of his career be my guest...not to mention he cost more than half your starting lineup...whatever. Myles PER is even better than Victors...he is a solid 2nd/3rd option on a good deal. On top of that he can play the 4-5 and defend the pick n roll I don’t know why you would want to give that up for a point guard on the downside of his career. This would be Monta Ellis 2.0....except we would have to give up talent and he actually cost more.
  21. So we want to trade our one rim protector and still improving 23(!!) year old center for a 32 year old over the hill point guard? Yep sounds like the Pacers....let’s trade Sabonis while we are at it and bring back George Hill too....hope this is rumor is fake as hell.
  22. Issue with the Pacers are kinda two-fold. They have had some sketchy player acquisitions opting to trade and not sign young guys and draft picks for older guys in effort to win now trading for Scola and signing Al Jefferson and Stuckey and Monta Ellis etc and the fact they won’t go over the cap. If you won’t go over the cap then it really limits what moves you can make. When you are getting to back to back ECF and you won’t pay to get over the hump...your not going to beat a Heat team full of stars who spend the money. The Pacers are also risk adverse...if it means pushing to get an 8 seed and a first rd exit so they can get the money from two playoff games they will do it instead of selling off pieces and setting themselves up for the next year and acquiring young talent. They are happy to be middle of the pack then to tank and rebuild...they want the money from butts in seats over going all in on a process.
  23. No bump. There are thresholds over the cap where you get progressively fined for going over the cap. In Kembas case they are far too far away from being competitive to lock him up to those numbers....if it would have been Klay instead and your trying to keep your championship caliber team together ok. Thing with GS is that they are so far over the cap that even if Durant doesn’t re-sign they will still be over the cap (you can only go over the cap to keep your own players) and thus couldn’t replace him. The only reason they signed KD to begin with was a rare case when right after the collective bargaining agreement the cap jumped way up and GS still had Klay, Curry, and Green all on like rookie/affordable deals...so they could sign Durant and then as those guys came up they went over the cap to re-sign them. So GS can go back over the cap to re-sign Durant but if he walks they can’t spend that money to find a replacement...that’s why this will likely be the end of their dynasty if Durant leaves.
  24. Wow...if KD tore his Achilles then he misses next year too. Can’t imagine what New York and everyone else is thinking. That is just crazy...sad.
  25. Should have been a wrap until their coach calls a dumb TO and let’s GS regroup. Killed his own teams momentum. Couldn’t believe that.
