  1. Geez, Louise Scott. I wish you could see past the end of your nose. Maybe, just maybe, this could be a win-win for both sides. TJD follows his dreams and becomes a professional basketball player, and the IU program attracts more high level players who see his success and want to follow in his footsteps. Doesn’t have to be either/or
  2. I’m sure if there are any more strange things going on with him, someone will open an X-file 🙄
  3. Appear to be out of the Honey Badger pursuit
  4. Understand what you are saying given the statistics you used. How much would the additional turnovers that would inevitably come with more minutes detract from the offensive benefits?
  5. Kopp played 450 more minutes than JG last year. Kopp 32 Turnovers/JG 31` JG 121 total rebounds and 42 offensive rebounds/ Kopp 89 and 12 Kopp was 32-37 on free throws --86.5%/ JG 25-44--56.8% Kopp OWS--.4 , DWS--1.1 WS--1.5 JG OWS--.5 , DWS--.9 WS .9 To me, statistics show JG's value to be a 4--rebounder/put backs. In 400 less minutes he turned the ball over more often. He also lost value as a free throw shooter--look at how well Villanova shot free throws as an example. Surprised to see the DWS favoring Kopp. Point being, both guys bring value to the team, but not the same skill sets. Unless JG strongly improves his handle and shot, he needs to stay inside. Developing him as the next stretch 4 to replace Race either this year or next makes some sense. He has to improve his free throws to trust him with 20+ minutes.
  6. No clue....in the last few years, Butz, Brooks and Furst. The kid from Canterbury who went to Michigan and whose family had the plane crash. Izzo has gotten a kid or two from NE Indiana. Wisconsin has as well. The point guard from Warsaw. The kid that went to Akron and is now in the portal. Dwenger had the Eifert kid who played for PUke--we wouldn't have had a chance with him though, given the family history. Snider had Williams who went to Louisville. I rarely have any information being so far away from Bloomington, but I did regarding someone fairly close to Furst. He told me that prior to Furst's senior year, it was down to IU and Virginia. Painter made it a point to be up in FW multiple times prior to the commitment.
  7. true, but in the past 15-20 years, I don't know how much effort has been put into it.
  8. Didn't want to start a new thread, and this is off season news... https://www.wane.com/news/woodson-to-headline-49th-annual-bbbs-gourmet-dinner/ Glad to see CMW make an effort to visit the second largest city in the state. CAM pretty much ignored NE Indiana, which in no small part is why recruiting up here has fallen way off.
  9. I know we have had several posts when players declared early. Thought I would start a thread so we can keep all of that news in one spot. Today Jabari Smith from Auburn and Ty Ty Washington from pUKe declared.
  10. Just have to file it as an outside business interest.
  11. In the games I saw, he was constantly mentioned as a guy with quite a bit of talent who never played to his capabilities.
  12. Before the tournament started, maybe between Selection Sunday and the start, I heard an interview with Bilas and someone asked him about the investigations. He flat out shut the person down, saying in essence that there was nothing to any of this and to just focus on the games. It appears to me that anyone in the mainstream media who wants to take a stance on this stuff is creating career suicide
  13. Not sure where else to put this without starting a new topic... Bob Bowlsby, Commissioner of the Big 12 conference is resigning/retiring. Not happy or comfortable with the direction college athletics is moving, specifically the transfer portal and NIL. Is certain that the SEC and ESPN colluded to draw away the two marquee programs from the conference. He saved the conference when Oklahoma and Texas announced they were moving. His conference has won the last two basketball championships. By all accounts he is a good man, good leader. The changing of the guard continues. The lack of leadership from Emmert and the NCAA is going to drive out more good people, imo.
  14. There goes the purported private school advantage
  15. Pretty great that Doc is connecting with anything associated with IU, given how things ended with his son here.
  16. If you know where Traverse City is, you would go up the west side of the bay to the Leelanau Peninsula. The right, or east side, up about 25 miles, is Torch Lake. The Dunes is the private course in New Buffalo-,only 9 holes. The Woodlands is another nice course.
  17. Family and friends with property on Torch Lake. Beautiful lake. try to stay away from the casino in New Buffalo. Good golfing up north as well.
  18. Been there for lunch and tasting. Did not know about the festival. We spend a fair amount of time visiting the wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula.
  19. CBS has us a little bit higher ranked--#19 https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-rankings-ucla-is-no-1-over-no-2-unc-in-never-too-early-preseason-2022-23-top-25
  20. Used to drive to Ohio in high school for 3/2 beer, but about once a month we’d trek up to a bowling alley in Coldwater for “real” beer. I live about 20 minutes from there now. Some nice wineries in the Paw Paw area
  21. During Purdue football game week I participated in a thread discussing Smellermaker cheerleaders/coeds. I promptly started getting stuff from Bordens promoting Elsie the cow.
