I understand and truly respect where you’re coming from but how he is acting and ruining this team absolutely deserves the extreme but just my personal opinion and completely understand anyone who thinks otherwise.

I’m sorry but anyone who gives as little effort as they do for a job while collecting that level of pay deserves any pressure they get. Period.

That's why I'm really confused. The Pearl stuff was coming from Dolson's side of things and there were some people from Pearls side as well. Things got louder earlier on Wednesday and then the leak happened Wednesday night. Since then things have gotten quiet. That's why I'm not entirely sure this is a done deal but I do think that some people got told to shut the **** up.

What I can’t grasp is by coming out in support of Woodson you’re saying “we trust he’s the man for the job.”

That puts your neck on the line with him. Even more so.

    Why??? Why do that??

Not arguing that at all.....but historically IU Hoops and UT football don't belong in the same historical hemisphere.

PS....IU has been a clown show for 20+ years. No arguments there. Our best moment was our worst. Firing Sampson for a parking ticket.

Wikipedia is your friend and or just a general knowledge of all sports helps.

Google can also be a fun friend.

    Good luck!

All the respect in the world. UT has 3 double digit win seasons in 2 decades. I don't think UT and IU historically belong in the same example.

PS...best friends have been Vol season ticket holders and friends for decades. Total clown show is what they describe UT as.

Wow 😂 I’m not going to dig into all this because it’s an IU board but your friends have some legit issues.

  5. Tennessee Vols FB fan IU Hoops fan (long story) here.

It’s been ironic that both are top 10 or so programs in their sports of all time. Legendary pasts and both in their darkest years.

Heres what I’ve seen as the difference. The Volunteer Nation eventually said enough is enough. They hesrd a coach was going to be hired that they knew was a bad hire (leaked into the press) and the fans went NUTS. They literally took back their program. Thru social media, pressuring boosters, board and Presidents and protesting. They Forced the school to not hire that coach. Those fans refuse to NOT get their program back to the point it was.  I watched a PRESS CONFERENCE with the President of the University addressing the fans with a full commitment to return the proud history of UT football back to championship level. She felt the heat as the PRESIDENT and so did the board.

And the program is headed back. You can see it happening.

Our fans are soft. Our boosters are soft. Everyone is sad or defeated but no one is standing up and saying “I swear we’ll replace every board member, the president and AD if we have to to get OUR program BACK.

Alumni and general public need grassroots stuff happening. It’s a public institution. Alumni take back your program!

This is the problem now. What's the criteria for next year? What has to happen next season for Woodson to earn a 5th season?

Like, if we squeak into the Tournament as a play-in team, does that mean Woodson has "improved" things?

How bad does next year need to be for him to get fired?

This is exactly right. We could high end do what you just described and he’d feel he’s got us going good. He’s delusional and this whole thing is a wreck

Cool. Don't recall using the word clowns. That would be a personal attack and this board has a very, very strict rule on those so I don't want to break that rule.

I said sophomoric, bush league, and amateur hour to describe our fanbase right now. Not you or this board. Now if the latter fits the prior...that's on the object to decide whether they fit in that category. Certainly not me.

I disagree with you on this topic 100% but the terms amateur hour and bush league need to be brought back into my vocabulary more often so thank you. 💪🏻😎

I don't believe this at all.  He might not be the coach we want going forward but he has coached and played long enough to know what his record is in both leagues.  This is just throwing shit at a guy for no reason other than they want him gone.

Most people are semi self aware. I’ve met my fair share who lack it completely and live in a dream world that isn’t close to reality. He might very well be one of those types of people. There’s certainly evidence to back that claim up.

  9. Well the more Woodson opens his mouth the worse he’s making it for himself so maybe we just do one of those live mics on him 24/7 with a live feed and let him dig his own grave even more

maybe by “inside out” he meant a good anemia that he needs to clear his mind and think straight. We can only hope.

Yeah, I thought (hoped) Crean would be able to recruit well enough here to avoid those valleys, but he just wasn’t able to.  Archie, I had watched him coach enough at Dayton to know he wasn’t anything special.  That being said, I thought he’d have more success here than he did.  Woodson, I just didn’t understand the hire, especially when the program needed so much more.  They sold me for a while with Fife, Matta, and the promise of a modern NBA-style system, but, of course, that never materialized.

So as we can reflect I’d say most of us would agree that in hindsight BOTH Crean AND Miller had a higher upside and more potential to have success here and we followed them both up with a LESS qualified candidate with LESS of a potential to succeed.

If Quinn is responsible the guy should be banned for a year from all things IU. Put his butt in a timeout

This is where I was. Long before Crean was hired, I never understood the hype about him. I always thought his Marquette teams were an undisciplined mess.
I was positive toward the Archie hire. He had success just below the P6 level and had a good pedigree. So called experts said he was a can’t miss hire. I’ll always suspect that he was undermined by IU on the McKinley Wright transfer that could have changed the trajectory of his tenure. But ultimately, the job seemed too big for him.
I was never in favor of the Woodson hire. None of it fit together. Seemed like a way to appease the “Indiana Guy” contingent without having to hire Alford. They cobbled together Matta and Fife, but it was clear that Woodson didn’t want a baby sitter or an heir apparent. Sounds like Fife really screwed up too, if rumors are to be believed.

Crean’s infatuation with wings, lack of consistent roster building, burn his players out conditioning and questionable play calling in tight games were all widely known and a frustration at Marquette. Nothing changed at all at IU

he'd have a good team for a year or two then massive rebuilds for years between at Marquette. He had shown no ability to build a program that could be good all the time and great every 2-3 years. It was feast or famine with him.

I never dreamed after 45 years in basketball he would have so many glaring weaknesses.  I was excited to be adding Fife and Matta.  Felt like we were building an NBA style program.  Figured Woodson's roledex would provide more help than it has.  Maybe Mbako counts with the east coast connection.

But I think my mind is made up, the biggest issue is the lack of energy it takes to do this job.  Love him or hate him,  Crean was a worker.

    He was no question.

  13. I knew the Crean hire would fail. I felt in the minority on that but I followed him at Marquette living in WI and I knew what we’d get and it turned out exactly that way.

i was underwhelmed but open minded to Archie. Liked his personality at first anyway. That failed.

I was so bummed with Woodson hire. Epically bummed. 😩

  14. If there’s anything to all the rumors I’d assume they’ll continue to pick up. And the silence of Dolsom is defining because when there’s fans calling for the coach and you don’t publically support him it kills recruiting. As if Woodson isn’t doing enough of that on his own.

so I sense there’s brewing absolutely happening. Whether it pans out or not idk.

One of the players parents liked a tweet questioning why the Indiana coaches were not out the other night.  Showing up is a big part of recruiting whether you want to acknowledge that or not.  The kids these days want to feel the love and have a connection with staff.  There are other things that factor in too, obviously, but denying that presence plays a pretty significant part is just denying reality.

Bingo. And some games are bigger than others. And IF it’s true he said he’d be there and then didn’t even have an asst come, that isn’t just not a positive that is a HUGE negative in forming a relationship.

Imagine you’re a kid trying to decide and for YOU this is a huge moment in your life and other coaches show up and one doesn’t? Think that single moment isn’t going to make a big impression? Fooling yourself if you say otherwise.

It’s been proven time and again the biggest factor for these kids to decide on a school is the relationship they have with the head coach and staff. You build that relationship over time but you can wreck it VERY quickly.

Great recruiters are seizing every moment they can to build that relationship with the kid and family. It’s extremely competitive. Missing a game like this is huge. It’s not another regular season game it’s one where a recruit EXPECTS to see the coaches.

Woodson screwed up HUGE on this one game. THIS one he must be at and he wasn’t and didn’t have a legit excuse. That’s enormous

Cool! Appreciate the follow up. I know nothing at all. However I would say this. The very people who know so much might be part of the problem the last 2 decades. We have to be the only fanbase in the country that worries about attending high school sectionals. Of course one or 6 of the tribe will come along and say ahh yes. The fans fault. I will offer this. Doing it the same way over and over again?

PS...if Woody is still here. Both Sisley and Mullins are Hoosiers. I'll also add JH to the list but the great part about this board is able to have differing opinions right....even if one side of the teeter totter is a bit heavy.
