Everytime we get a coach you can repo that they believe they can win at any level here including a national title. Archie’s brother even said “don’t leave Dayton unless it a program that can enable you to win it all.” IU has that ability. Who we can land idk. But anyone we do isn’t coming here feeling they have to win a title they’re here because they believe they can do it. They all have egos the size of a semi. They all want to be the guy to fixes this program. Thats because it DOES have the things they’d need to do it. Why haven’t we landed a big name? Well often there’s not a big name available when we need one. 🤷🏻‍♂️ lateral moves don’t make sense so you end with a pool of 1-2 guys even POSSIBLE. Small pool. I also have questioned if we’d spend the top end money in the past. But I don’t have that fear AS much (still there some). outside of that I’m not sure

I want a new coach soon but everything I’ve read is that Woodson is very engaged with recruiting so this flies in the face of that. Not a fan from the beginning BUT I want to be level headed and fair also

Absolutely freaking no way in heck…keep Alford as far from this program as possible. 1.) because he’s proven nothing as a coach. 2.) because he is an arrogant a hole. He absolutely is worse than Woodson. At least with Woodson it was possible. Hiring Alford is saying “well not be anything then average at best and fire HIM after 5-6 years and have to wait even longer for the next stab. No sir count me out on Alford. Never.

I would’ve said yes earlier on but I’ve read enough people that know him that makes me feel “eh.” Idk who we should go after if or when the time comes

I think the gaps in this roster are a real flat tire. Thats on Woodson anyone could see potentially it would be that way from a mile away. But here we are and it limits it greatly. You can’t NOT have good shooters with good post players and be a balanced team. I’m to the point I’m ready to play the walk on guards if they’ll shoot and hit them to open things up. And I can NOT for the life of me figure out why we help so much on the perimeter when we have a shot blocker like Ware. Play up on their faces and if they beat you follow them in and trust the bigs will protect the rim. 🤷🏻‍♂️ BUT with that said I do believe this roster is better than it’s performing. I feel if we were a lot better defensively we’d be a lot better even without enough shooters. But we aren’t. And that’s on Woodson and he needs to publically own it and stop pointing fingers at the players. IMO I’m rambling but yes I agree

I’m getting tired of him not taking ownership of the ship. I can’t stand how our perimeter defense is bad, and continues to BE bad, and it seems nothing is changing. I’m concerned about his recruiting. Not the talent but the construction there of. There have been issues any average fan could see needed addressed and somehow they weren’t. Why? How? WITH THAT BEING SAID, I have zero desire for him to be fired after this season. That’s ridiculous. But we need to see that we are back on track next season and building the program to a better spot. Idc what that takes in the portal or HS talent. But we can’t have another season like this weird one or very few players will want to come. Then it snow balls quickly and he won’t make it. I want him to succeed. He’s an IU guy and he LOVES this program. Can’t ask for a better guy to succeed here. But as awesome of a guy as he is, he isn’t paid millions to appear to be a great fit. He needs to BE a great fit and get us back. So let’s get this done coach! 💪🏻

I honestly don’t care what he does if he gets us into the top 10 consistently and the expectation every year is finish in the top half of conference, fight for conference titles every 2-3 years and make runs semi consistently in the tourney with an eventual championship. 3,4,5 star idc just get it done.

We don’t have enough of a sample size to determine either way. I felt that would be one of his great strengths. It seems pro players attribute that strength to him. So far here you can argue Trayce but after that it gets to be a little bit of a stretch. So no I’m not one to say “one thing we know for sure is Woodson develops players.” I don’t feel I agree with that…yet.

Well I can add more. My son got a perfect score on his ACT and could go anywhere. We toured 28 schools across the Midwest and south and East coast. I got to see it all. Everyone with official tours. He was open to considering IU and had gone in MS to a game. He loved the campus. IU was one of the last we toured heading home on a third road trip. The tour we got was BY FAR the worst tour of any. The large group time was boring as heck. Poor salesmanship on the school. We got two young men to lead our tour that were so lacking enthusiasm amor knowledge of the school and area (you get asked generally how cold it is in the winter by someone from TX and you say “idk really maybe 10-15 degrees most the winter…idk”) and they couldn’t answer half the questions asked and said his major was boring. Half the people in our tour slipped away during it to just go home. It was painful. So bad I called the school to give constructive feedback. She assured me there would be changes and due to my sons academic standing if they could have a second chance to have their regional recruiter contact him and discuss the school further and visit him in the coming month or two. I have her his cell and said “I’d like that.” They never called.

I can’t believe. We are back in this position AGAIN. 😑 back to high end hope is TRYING to be merely competitive and seeing ANY improvement at all. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Give up an open three and not even be able to inbounds the ball to shoot a full court shot… thats IU right now.

He’s one I really want considering our roster

I’m still trying to figure this team out, but so far it feels like it’s too talented of a team to not make the tourney. If we don’t even make it, that’s a fail IMO. Fairly big fail.

Well, I’m 5’9” but had a 29 inch vertical in HS. No dunking but I was little and had a post player (friend) in a pick up game think it would be funny to give me a shove in the back a little as I was going up. He didn’t ever mean or think I’d go flying but I landed from my max jump flat on my back. It didn’t hurt I landed perfectly, but I hopped up and started screaming at him. Scariest thing that ever happened to me playing hoops in my life.

My expectations are based on a growth towards a standard of IU basketball that I believe is reasonable to expect for a program that offers what we offer big picture. and I dare say Woodson of all people share the same expectations… When we are rebuilt, which should NOT take more than four years, we LIVE inside the top 25, typical is top 15, we make the tourney 9/10 years, a Final Four at least once every 6-10 years and a Banner is hung again. I expect overall a trend showing each season that we are progressing towards that end. And that doesn’t mean each of the first four years we have more wins. But a culture is being built. I hope Woodson gets us there because I like him
