  1. Yes they can...you have to guard them, and UNC isn't doing that.
  2. Did you guys read the story? The reasons why they waited on options for more vaccines specifically from Pfizer is clearly outlined. No one knew who, out of the 7 companies working on a vaccination, would be able to produce one first. So if we only go for Pfizer's we've back ourselves into a corner. We've given 1 company a promise to cover more than 1/3rd of our population (the 100 million that we initially purchased would cover 50 million people as 2 doses are required). Of course, an "anonymous source" Monday morning quarterbacking is nothing new... Not to mention, why do we even have a vaccination becoming available this early anyway? Talk about agendas...

  4. Tis the season! She looks thrilled, doesn't she? My wife does this to them every year...Neighbors hate it because a lot of people stop to take pics when they're out in pasture and it clogs up the road...

Love Goldens...Smart, loyal, friendly...We had one who, from the time we got her when she was a puppy, was basically maintenance free...Open the door, she'd go out (no fence) and stay in the yard, do her business and come right back in... That said, we got out of the pure bred market 8 years ago...Last 3 we've adopted were from shelters...One is blind, but he gets along...Other 2 are good dogs (and one of them is a full blooded Lab)...Very protective of us...Like they know what we did for them... There are just so many dogs at these shelters who're really good dogs and need good homes, we couldn't justify going out and buying a $500-$1,000 puppy...
  6. I think it's a possibility too, but once the vaccine is rolled out I can also see people ignoring any mandate once they get the vaccine... I'd urge retail places to keep the enforcement of masks in place...That seems to be more effective than any government action anyway...If you want to shop/dine here, you have to have a mask...
  7. I understand that...I just don't know what you want me, personally, to do about it. I comply with most orders because I think it's the right to do, not because some media person tells me to...
  8. I understand what you're saying but twice now you've posted articles where the source made a statement that, if anyone read the source document, wasn't exactly what the source document stated. Now, you might think that's simply "lazy journalism." I think it's agenda driven. Saying "COVID 19 has surpassed opioid overdoses as the leading cause of death for 25-44 year olds" is a helluva far cry from " likely" and "only in certain areas of the US." To me, it's an author driven by an agenda and counting on the fact that the vast majority of people aren't going to read the source paper. I've discounted many things I've heard or read from "reputable" news sources...CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and, yes, USA Today. It's ceased to be real, no crap journalism. It's agenda driven BS to sway people one way or the other. BS is BS to me...no matter whether it's wrapped in a nice package like USA Today or a "fringe" website. I was an aircraft incident investigator for a couple of years. That'll make you question almost everything you read. If it isn't a substantiated beyond any doubt, I question it. Look, I know it's a serious thing. I know going out like I do could expose me to harm. Everybody understands that by now. I don't need to be scared into complicity...

  10. First, God Bless your brother for his service... I never thought you could get drafted into the Marines until I worked with a Vietnam Vet in the mid 70s...He said he'd been drafted, and went to the Army induction center where there was about 80 draftees in a room...A Marine came in and said, "I need 10 for the Marines. Raise your hand" No one raised their hands, so he pointed at guys and said, "Ok, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 9,10...Grab your gear and welcome to the Corps."

But that's all it takes...one or two added or omitted words...You guys get upset with @Reacher, but I think he just wants to put information out here, and figures most of us are smart enough to make our own decisions based on what we read... I appreciate the information wherever it comes from...Some info I doubt, and some I embrace...

I've had the opposite experience...The USAF MADE you get a flu shot every year, and I was never sick the whole 20 years I was in (only relegated to quarters once...a week for a bad back)...First year I got out, didn't get one, and got sick like I'd never been sick before...Started taking them every year and haven't been sick (knocking on wood) since... Might just be coincidence, but who knows...

  14. Reading the study they cited, that statement is misleading... "Meaning: We find that COVID-19 has likely become the leading cause of death—surpassing unintentional overdoses—among young adults aged 25-44 in some areas of the United States during substantial COVID-19 outbreaks."
  15. We go out to eat both lunch and dinner quite a bit, as well as we've been doing a lot of Christmas shopping...Restaurants seem to be probably 90% back to normal and that's indoor dining. They've spaced the tables a bit farther, and the servers wear masks...And masks are required if you leave the table. We were in some stores Saturday, and they were full...Everyone had a mask on, but social distancing was impossible...Pretty crowded... On the medical front, I'm having 2 cervical discs replaced in late January, so it doesn't seem like elective surgeries are having to wait (although I'm uncomfortable enough for it not to be too elective for me)... I think Texas, for the most part, has about had enough of COVID...People do wear masks and normally people at least try to stay 6 feet away, but life has gotten back to normal in a lot of ways...

  17. Most of the UK fans I know were ok with it when it was working... But once you get a couple of weak recruiting cycles or start losing out to schools like Duke consistently for the primo kids, it doesn't. I have a few people who are dear friends that are UK fans...and only recently have they started bitching about Cal. They also know my position that after all the underhanded BS that has went on at Kentucky since the 1940s, I have no sympathy for them. The kind of thinking that had them lauding Cal a few years ago is prevalent in a faction of our fan base as well. I've seen people call for someone like Cal...a Bruce Pearl, or someone of that ilk. No thanks...
