  1. Even though he played at UK and strong armed himself out New Orleans,  I really Like Anthony Davis.  I hope Denver puts that magic together but it doesn't look good.

Billy D is interviewing for the Pacers?  I hope they land him.  Doesn't already have a house in Indiana.

  2. For whatever reason the Clips just ran out of gas. They melted down late in many games and just seemed to lose their legs and shot bricks.  Maybe all the load management caught up to them and worked in reverse.  Maybe taking days off when you are tired is not as good as learning to play through it. Apparently guys were gassed and asking out for breaks in the 2nd half of games after only a 3-5 minute stretch. BY the end of this series it wasn't just PG.  Kawhi, Lou Williams, Morris  all went in the tank. Quite the team effort.

I don't think the better team won. Toronto played a terrific game, but imo Boston is the better team. They dominated Game 5 and Toronto came back and beat them in Game 6 in double OT. Game 7 will decide who is better, and that's what it's all about, gotta love the level both teams have played at.

Toronto was reallly looking good when COVID shutdown hit.  Before the playoffs started, I had picked Toronto in the East.  Since bubble started I've felt Boston has looked slightly better.  It is certainly a toss up game.  Really like how OG is playing.

Steve Nash to be named head coach of Brooklyn Nets. Pardon my ignorance. Where has he been coaching at?

He may have ties to Marks.  Weren't they both part of GS around the same time. I think it crazy they didn't give Vaughn the job.  Should the Pacers look at him?

I thought Brooklyn was stalling to get a shot at Billy D. who is NY East Coast guy. Billy is now a FA coach.  Maybe he didn't want to deal with Kyrie and Durant bolted on him once.  I think he has nice roster of young players if he stays in OKC.  Last years draft I clamored for the Mavs to take dort in Round 2 on the Mavs forum. Amazing OKC got him as an UDFA.  The Mavs took Isiah Roby who I like but he now on OKC because of the CAuley-Stein trade. Bazley also looks like he is going to be really good.

Billy D may have a good hold on the housing market in Indiana. LOL.  Wonder if Philly may come after him.

Mavs are extremely well positioned going forward, at least if Porzingis can stay healthy, they have assets etc and can add another high level third player to the mix. Doncic is like the next Bird

That is the goal.  I think they are already shopping the 18th pick.  The drop from KP to THJ is pretty big. Their third star is Rick Carlisle and Nellie Jr. is really good at making trades.  Unfortunately most of the trades he makes are bail out trades reacting to a failed FA chase.   IMO, there will be quite a few team shaking things up so if he is proactive in working trades from the beginning the FA/trade period they can probably make a decent deal.   I hoe the Pels decide to break up the PG duo of Jrue/Lonzo.  I'd take either.

He remains a dangerous player, but his greatest asset -- his incredible, really unrivaled, burst and relentless energy -- is also his greatest weakness, as he relapses into full bore attack sometimes without control, without a clear approach to winning the game within a team gameplan -- it's put the team on my back and attack.

Forget the Lakers, they won't get past Boston, Toronto, the Bucks, or Miami, each of those teams is better. Also wouldn't bank on the Lakers, at least yet. Clips just never have a complete squad and haven't had enough actual game and practice time together to be what they can be, but when they're locked in, like that 150-point destruction of Dallas, they're heads above the Lakers, who are entirely dependent on LeBron and Unibrow. Beverly is key, Clips need him badly to shore up their elite D and the O, with the extra time off as the Denver series goes to 7, he may be ready.

I agree with your view on the Lakers.  I was only talking about the  Lakers - Rockets if it happens.  Lebron and AD game in the paint should bring this new found great Rocket defense back to earth.  The announcers are just all over themselves about the Rox being the top defense in the playoffs. Maybe they were biting their lips when bringing that up.

Yeh, I wanted the Mavs to avoid the Clips so bad.  I though they would get swept and was hoping for 1 win.    Overall, The clips were way less physical in this series than in the regular season games vs Dallas.  I think the Mavs were probably lucky the Clips tried to play goon ball with King goon Morris.  It gave the Mavs something  different to learn.  Other than KP's ejection it really didn't impact the Mavs.  Luka even got more into the games. The Clips just generally wore the Mavs down in regular season games with their athleticism and depth. Mavs typically were shooting bricks by the 2nd halves of those games.   I think Beverly' and Harrell's  high energy wore on the Mavs in the regualr season games and that was missing in the series.

Right except the P's drafted Kawhi in a deal with San Antonio, the P's weren't keeping him.

Well that even helps my point further.  If they don't make that deal he would have further in the draft?   I don't know but anytime the Spurs have somebody on their radar,  I'd do a double check.

Thunder made it a 7-game series. Terrible first game, but now down to game 7. Thought this would be a really good series, and it’s ended up this way. And well Westbrook’s late TO.....

Meanwhile Miami is looking a bit dangerous. I don’t think they’ll beat the Bucks, but this should be another long series, and now we’ll see if Giannis has enough around him

I love how 4th quarter Russ never disappoints.  He made a great layup driving past Adams who made a great defensive play to almost stop that layup.  Never mind winning.  Look at what I did.  He decided to do the flex at Adams.  He promptly followed that up with an air ball and the Turnover that essentially cost them the game.   If they lose Game 7, I expect he will dealt for the next version of the rockets around Harden.  Actually if they win,  I don't see how they can come close to competing vs the Lakers in a playoff series when the LA is locked in.   I have a feeling this is a 1 year trial and the rox should cut bait while he is still a good trade piece.

This is the NBA All Star roster from 2019 and just looking at the roster most of those players were lottery picks.  Did not look at each player and where they were drafted but most of them seem to be high draft picks.

Weren't VO, Sabonis, Turner all top 10 or 11 picks?  VO went  number 2. Brogdon was 2nd rounder but ROY.   TJ Warren was 14.  Would you like to have both PG13 and Kawhi on the Pacers?  One was 10 and Kawhi 15.  Turner was picked just before Devin Booker.  The Greek was around 15th also.  Adebayo looks like a star on the rise and he went 14th in the draft.  I think Butler was int he 20's.  I agree the odds go up the higher you draft but it seems the Pacers have had plenty of chances to land stars and I know they didn't have the opportunity to draft some of those guys.  They even drafted both Kawhi and PG13.  They were teammates for what 30 minutes. That's an oops.

Hopefully the bucks flame out and Brogdon and the Greek are buddies and the Pacers hire the right coach.

That is pretty much where the Pacers are even with Vic.  We are stuck in being an average team because we are just good enough to get into the playoffs but not good enough to be contenders.  The Pacers owners never wanted to tank to get a high draft picks.  That is the only way for the Pacers to have a chance to get that star player is to get some high draft picks.

I am not sure I agree.  I'd at least give it a chance and let it play out.  Let this group finally play together.   If it is not working out then deal at the trade deadline.  Toronto is a title contender.  They may lose to Boston but still they are a contender.  Their best player is Siakam.  Wasn't he drafted in the 20's.

Last year even before his injury he did not look like the same player he did the first year with the Pacers.

Seems like all last year even before the injury that took him down he was playing with some sort of nagging knee problem.  If I were the Pacers I'd give it until the trade deadline. I think it worth seeing what these guys would be like when they are all together.

  12. I see a lot of posts about trading VO and Turner. As a Mavs fan would love to have either.  I have to admit I am a bit concerned about VO and his long term health and the fact he can walk as a FA. I don't follow the pacers as clsoely as you guys since I watch the Mavs but I have league pass and do watch them from time to time.    It seems to me that Turner always draws the toughest assignment when I watch. Adebayo is a rising star and Turner was not going to shut him down.  Adebayo shot 55% during the season but that dropped to 47% in this series.  I don't think the Mavs have much to offer.  KP and Luka are untouchable.  I think the Mavs are shopping draft picks 18 and 31.

Wright, Justin Jackson and 18 for VO? THJ has grown on me.   It could be as simple as THJ for VO.  I probably wouldn't do those deal if the Pacers but THJ is healthy and a really good 3 point shooter once he got in an efficiently coached offense.

Turner is from Dallas and I think he plays summer ball with a lot of the Mavs.  I'd be really interesteed in him but have no idea what kind of package to send in return.  THJ and 18 for Turner and Sumner?

I have not watched the nba in years and  whatever lebron worth hundreds of millions  can continue his trashy twitter posts.  He acts like people will be devestated without the nba.lol its just a game.

I like the NBA a lot but I haven't heard anything out of Lebron about real solutions.  He is not a bad person and does well with charity and community stuff  because he has the money to do so.  Good for him. Outside of basketball,   I think he would be a terrible leader in the political world.   I would never be a follower of him.   In that kind of environment, give me someone like Matthew Brogdon if you had to pick an NBA player.

I understand why they are boycotting and agree change is needed.  What I want to know what do they think boycotting will do to help to bring change.  I guess I am wondering what the end game is to them doing this.

I agree.  I don't think these boycotts are going to really help anything. No NBA then I'll watch Netflix or Hulu or Spike Cohen or HBOmax not Lebron or the NBA players.

Looking at the draft from a Mavs perspective and they have the 18 and 31 picks. They could use a big.  Tillman vs Oturu vs Jalen Smith.  There are others in the mix but wondering what the opinion here would be on the Big 10 trio.   I like Oturu and how he grew his game.  Mavs are one of the more prolific PnR teams in the league and he gets good scouting reports in that area.  Losing Powell really hurt them in the PnR game.  Tillman seems to be a ready made pro who can defend and there seems little question about his toughness or motor.  Don't know if he has any offensive game for the NBA.  Smith looks like like he can be the best perimeter player of the 3 but I really like Oturu's shot

  16. Go Mavs.  They gotta avoid the clips. KP has been really awesome himself.  Curry and THJ are a  bit cold.  Maxi and DFS are getting it done big time for undrafted players. I didn't think the Mavs looked good at all until the bucks game.  Then next game Curry and THJ started knocking down the 3's like they normally do.  Most  teams treating the restart  as a preseason so who knows what these current games mean excpet for the teams battling for the 8-9 play in in the West.

Looks like Pop has worked some Magic with the spurs.  Suddenly, Dejounte Murray is back to pre-injury form, White and Poehtl are looking real good and playing like the Spurs again.  They need to land a super star.     KP on the Mavs and Murray got like a year off after their injury.  KP actually a year and a half. Then this extra 4 month layoff.   How long did the Magic give J. Isaac?  He should not have returned until whenever 2021 season starts. Feel bad for him.

I am looking at it how it will effect next season. For the teams who makes a deep run in the playoffs they will only have 6 weeks until the next season starts.  Take Lebron he will take more rest days next year if they make a long run.  Also only having a few weeks for the draft and free agency will really be difficult to build your roster.

Some of the biggest stars like Durant and Klay didn't even play this year. Curry not so much.  I don't like the short off-season but 8 teams will have had the longest off season ever.  6 more join them in mid August.  Then every couple of weeks more teams will drop out. It sounds like the NBA plans to have series go every other day with no travel. So who knows if it goes all the way to mid Octobers.  These players are pros and stay in shape year round and load management was already here so what if Lebron takes a few extra games off.   Who knows we might see the best playoffs ever as the players should be really fresh with the long layoff.

I don't think teams are waiting until the Finals are over to prepare for the draft.  Actually they have 3 more months to prepare for the draft but missed out on having the NCAA tourney and draft camps to evaluate players assuming they don't have a camp.

Free Agency will be strange.  What kind of salaries will teams be able to throw around?  The CAP has to be impacted. Will players be more apt to opt in to current deals or take 1 year deals. I can't imagine a free agent getting a better long term deal this off season than summer of 21 assuming things are back to normal.

I have some things I don't like either and tend to agree they should of tried to keep next year as normal as possible.   I don't think they should scrap the season so I like it better as it is than ending the season.  I also can't pretend to know all the logistic hurdles they had to deal to with in the decisions they made. Goes way beyond me dreaming up stuff to type on a forum. lol

For some of the dreamt up stuff.

I am glad to see it come back but I think the NBA mismanaged this some.  They should have found a way to get it going before the 4th of July weekend and they could of dominated the summer TV sports including the 4th of July weekend.  Maybe crown the champ labor day weekend. Something tells me Stern wouldn't have missed out on that opportunity.

I thought all the teams should of been able to return. I understand they may not want to have risked injury to those who became Free agent but they could have expanded roster from the G-League pool and let the bottom 8 have some development games  like the summer league. I'm sure the Hawks who wanted to develop chemistry weren't the only team in that wanted to play.  Maybe have them play a couple of tournaments for a payoff like the TBT. I'd like to see them just remove draft day trades this year, do the draft just after the 4th and let those players join expanded rosters for the rest of the season. If they don't  like what they got then trade em in November.

Russell is on his 4th team in 5 years

Yeh but he became an all star last year and was even more efficient on the Warriors.   I could see where Wiggins would be a better fit as a 2 way player as opposed to Russell alongside  Klay and Steph.  Russell isn't very good defensively and this would certainly impact Curry.  I don't think it was a secret that while Russell is outstanding offensively that Warriors made the trade for him to have a big time asset they wanted to keep him or trade for assets.  If Wiigins finds efficiency along the trio of Superstars, the Warriors will look all genius here also landing the  future 1st round pick.  The fact that Wiggins has underachieved and all the noise that KAT has made about playing with Russell and being unhappy in Minny probably gave GS some leverage.

  19. I would eat at Taco Bell but do not go.  Maybe on the rare occasion of needing some food late night.  When visiting California it seems we have to go to Del Taco once.  It's a wife and kids thing and the place is just around the corner from the in-laws house.     Living in austin,  there is to many local really good Taco Places and/or taco trailers.   When i moved here 12 years ago Torchy's was just getting started now it is exploding into other cities and states.

That dude is amazing. The kid is only 20. I thought they had a chance to be a playoff team pairing him with Porzingis, but no way did I see this monster jump from him. And yes, Dallas is playing legit ball, Carlisle is a really good coach, and that team is now balanced and legit. Mavs are a real feel good story this year.

I am not really that surprised about Luka.  The team yes. I kinda thought they could push .500 ball and be in the hunt for a low seed but come up just short.  I think they are the most efficient or one of top effiecient offensive teams in the history of the NBA right now.  It's early so would be hard to believe that would hold up.   Who knows.   It seems the depth of the West may be a myth this year after the top 6.  Maybe some of the surprise underachievers get it going but maybe not.      Helps that GS is taking a year off. didn't see that coming. Anyway Mavs clearly look top 6 and hopefully top 4. Not saying they would be favorites but I feel pretty good about them against any West team except the Clips right now.

The supporting cast after KP and Luka has really come together for the Mavs.  None of these guys complain about playing time or their roles.   Team chemistry is off the charts.  I was thrilled they got Porzingus but thought he was a loose cannon. Then came the off season accusations and incident back home at a night club.  He is the complete opposite of what I thought personality wise.  He gives such well thought answers in interviews and seems real laid back.   Has even taken some of the blame for some of his actions handling the Knick situation.  You could see some frustration in him as he has some bad shooting and scoring games but his defense is way better than I expected so  he has contributed there big time.

I'll really miss the season tix packages I split with friends when I lived in Dallas.  Fair trade.  Austin is just way better.  I'll go see them in San Antonio just like Dirk's last game.
