  1. I got my Rangers 20 package to see the new stadium. The team, meh.   Unfortunately, it's year late and my opening day tickets won't be the first MLB game ever since they played playoff games there. So some of that excitement is gone.  I still don't know what is going on though as far as fans and how many will able to go.  Maybe since Texas is going back to normal in a couple of days they will not limit the number of fans at the game.   I got to pick 20 primo games so lets hope they sell well on stub hub.  I really only want to go to about half the 20 games. I'll sell all the Astro, Yankee, and Red Sox games I can unload.

  2. Actually before COVID the Mavs defense was actually rated in top 10. KP would of only helped  make it better.

Cuban notified the commish about that anthem decision before practicing it.  Don't really see why the big deal.  Should the Mavs also play the National Anthems for the countries below?  I don't remember when they switched but before cuban they never played the National anthem but played God Bless america before games.

    Dončić - Slovenia
    Josh Green - Australia
    Powell - Canada
    Boban - Serbia
    KP - Lithuania
    Kleber - Germany

The OSU and Iowa game was very good.  I saw that Dallas lost 147-116.  Can't imagine scoring 116 points and lose by 31

COVID is real pain.  NBA is getting their TV money so that seems all that matters with the aggressive 72 game schedule.    I'm sure the Mavs aren't only team with COVID issues but they have been really slammed hard.   Mavs had 5 main rotations (DFS, Richardson, Brunson, Powell, Kleber) playersout for 2-3 weeks and lost 6 in a row while playing a difficult stretch mostly while traveling on the road.  That GS game was 3rd in 4 nights coming off that stretch of games. They were clearly gassed..  Players are back but seem in preseason form while playing some that are in full strength though GS did not have Wiseman or Looney.  They got the W vs GS in the 2nd game and now have won 3 of 4 so they are getting there.  KP seems to need 10 games to get going and is now looking like KP from the bubble.  They have a nice stretch at home so hopefully get back on track. I'm optimistic but who knows. Their solid but not really a title type of team.  The bar to get to a 4/5 seed is not that far away at the moment. The key is to get a top 6 seed and avoid play in games. Hopefully, Luka gets a manufactured injury the last game before the All star break that needs a week to recover from.

  4. Can the Mavs/pacers game be a 2 on 2 with Sabonis/Brogdon vs Luka/KP?

I assume Levert, Warren, and Turner are out.

The Mavs are made up of their G-League guys, KP, Luka and few of their secondary bench guys.  Maybe Hardaway will play with his injured groin and shoot 0 for 12. I expect that DFS, Maxi, Richardson and Powell won't play though richardson may have a shot to return.

Can someone tell me Leverts ability to break down defenders and get to the rack?

Need someone that can penetrate for the kick and shoot or get to the rack.

I think he is very good attacking the basket from what I remember in the bubble last season. I'm getting old so my memory may be off.

  6. If VO remaining a Pacer after he became a FA was a big worry then the pacers did great.  They may even have gotten the best player if Levert can stay healthy.   I don't know if Levert can defend like VO but I think he might be better offensively at this point.  The only players I've seen stopping him since the bubble have been Kyrie and Durant not letting him have the ball. There was no way he would get any shots with Harden joining the team.  Pacer fans should behappy as he is signed a couple years out.

  7. Stevens tried hard to get Romeo minutes around those injuries so he seems liked by the coach.  I think he sticks as rotation guy if could get past the injuries. His defense is elite as far upside, IMO.   Seems like Tatum and Brown as wings with a PF/C upgrade such as Turner would be better for them.    It seems Bane is being traded by Celts to the Griz and they dumped Kanter.  Are the wheels turning.

  8. I presume the Hayward discussions revolve around sending out Turner for him.  I expect trading Sabonis is unpopular but why not send out Sabonis instead?  Boston has a lot of picks and young players and if Sabonis can bring more value back then maybe you deal him especially if the Pacers are moving to an up tempo offense with more perimeter shooting which remains to be seen.

  9. I've read rumors that Booker wants out of Phoenix plus rumors that debunk those rumors.  Who knows but there is smoke there.  Their 8 game bubble streak was good but a poor start would have quickly reversed their solid summer.   I think if the suns get off to a bad start the fire that caused the smoke could intensify with booker. Maybe the hope is CP3 will enhance the Suns making the playoffs and help get them off to a good start.  There is no doubt he is good and like having a coach on the floor.

  10. Tom Heinsohn has passed.  Maybe I saw him play on TV but I never remember him playing as he retired when I was like 8.  I remember him as a coach during Cowens/Hondo days.  As long as they were beating Sloan and the Bulls, I have always liked the Celts even if not my favorite team because of Hondo then Bird.  I also remember him as an announcer on the national NBA telecasts back during the 80s.  He was really good.

He was entertaining in his later years as the Homer announcer for the Celtics.  Like Bill Walton, he always cracks me up.  I remember on game where Bill Walton showed up. Heinsohn was going on and on about pierce and how great he was. and maybe being mentioned as the potential greatest Celt.  Bill Walton just said to him I got 2 words on Pierce.  Those 2 words were Larry Bird. Kind of a you had to be there or see it live moment but quite funny because you just had to hear how Heinsohn was going on about Pierce then expecting Walton to add on.

Because Lebron is the GOAT. And yes, I realize Kyrie hit a crucial shot to win it, but those Cleveland teams are pretty terrible in a historical context. Outside of Lebron, you have exactly zero guys who have ever accomplished anything without Lebron.

LOL.  You cannot have KoB in your name and say that.  And I have no idea if that references Kobe.

I think the Pacers would be better off by making changes this off season band start new with a new coach.  Should see if they can trade VO to New Orleans for Jrue Holiday so we can have all of the Holiday brothers.  I also would look to trade Turner to the Celtics for Hayward.  I think they have a few free agents on their team like Justin Holiday, Long and Sampson.

It seems every team in the league wants to trade for Holiday.  Jrue whether it is true or not, continues to indicate he is happy in in New Orleans. IMO, the Pacers will have to add to VO who now has drama and an injury that is worrisome. Rumor is they are apparently talking trade with Utah concerning Favors so they might like Turner more.

  13. The Clips struggled to beat Dallas who lost KP and didn't have Powell. Eventually the Mavs just did not have enough fater losing KP.   I think the Clips thought they were going to walk through this thing.  I don't like the Lakers but I think they were going to roll the Heat injuries or no injuries. Rondo's return has energized their defense especially in the back court. Adebayo is a super star on the rise but Laker are deep.  AD, Lebron, Howard and even McGee. The lakers can throw more at him than entire East opponents did.   The Lakers best backcourt defender opted out in Avery Bradley. IMO, Miami benefitted just as much in the playoffs with breaks as the Lakers.

I hope the Pacers hire Billups. The current team really didn't play together much and it seems there is a lack of cohesion off the court.  Nate fired, VO and Turner rumors.  Low ball offers. Sabonis out.  Billups seems to maybe bring a sense of calm.  I think he can be similar to the Suns coach and at least get everyone on the same page.  If I'm the Pacers, I don't make big player moves until the trade deadline.

  14. Dallas has not been an attractive FA location for max guys.   I don't consider them big market.  Maybe they are.   I'm curious if players will want to play with Luka though. Giannas come on down.   Dirk never considering leaving, I don't think. I'm glad Luka and KP were on the team last year to see how Dirk was treated around the league and especially in Dallas by the Mavs and their fans.  I bought a 41-21-1 Tee.

KP seemingly did not want to stay in big market New York.  THJ mentioned how happy he was to get away from that team.  I don't blame players for wanting to move on from poorly managed teams be it in NY or Charlotte or to go shopping for better situations.

Maybe VO is just positioning for contract negotiations.  If Pacers really offered 4 years / 80 mil that seems like a slap.

problem with Dallas for Myles is Porzingis is already there.  Both play same positions, both are similar players(Myles is better defensively).  Don't think they'll move on from the Unicorn considering they just gave him a max deal or very close to it

I don't necessarily agree they can't co-exist well.   KP is a fantastic defender.  That was my biggest surprise once seeing him every day.    Having them both would be really good for a team that isn't very good defensively. Of course a lot of that is due to perimeter defense.  I worry about VO becoming a FA and his injury recovery but he also would make a lot of sense.

Seems turner can provide 3 point range but I don't watch enough of the Pacers (15 or so games) like I do the Mavs (most every game)to know if turner is any good in the PnRs. Seems like he struggles to catch the ball and finish but maybe I just saw a game where he struggled. KP does look like he is going to have to need Load Management over his career so there is some backup there when KP is out.  The Mavs current starting center is powell who is great in the PnR but struggles to hit 3's and nowhere near the defender of Maxi, Turner or KP.  KP was improving in the PnR aspect of his game. I think Luka attacking the basket with both KP and turner's ability to shoot 3's would work well. It does when Maxi and KP play together.  I would of put powell in the deal but I doubt that makes with him coming off achilles injury. Maxi might sense but he such a Mavs fan favorite. Being a Mavs fan I don't like to put him in deals but sometimes you have to.

Best of all the Mavs have a HOF coach who can adjust to his players.

  16. Actually either VO or Turner make sense for Dallas. Turner is from Dallas and has played summer with some of the Mavs.  Mavs have picks 18 and 31. I don't think there is huge difference in the players at those picks. Mavs would certainly prefer to trade 31 because they would not have to use 1.5 mil of the MLE to sign that pick which seems to have become the standard. Turner and Sumner for 31 and THJ?

The Spurs have DeRozan and Turner would be a good fit there if DeRozan would do a S&T to Indy.  The Spurs have young players in place to replace DeRozan.

  17. I think Rondo has been a big boost to the Lakers since he returned.  He was very disruptive against Denver.  KCP, Green, and Caruso who are pretty decent defenders got even more engaged.  I think the Miami 3 point guys won't be so lethal against the Lakers. Bookmark that because it may be a silly comment.   IMO, if the Lakers win game 1 they are going to roll through this series.

Here are a couple trade ideas:

Would you trade VO for DeRozan. Find a third team to trade a big to the Spurs. I can see Aldridge on the way out and they have several young guys in the backcourt to replace DeRozan.  Actualy Turner for DeRozan makes a lot of sense for the Spurs. Maybe Turner and VO for LA and DeRozan. If you don't like LA then rumors are he might like to finish up in Portland or maybe send to Boston.

Mavs could use Turner.  He's from Dallas and has been around Mavs in summer ball.  He provides much of what the Mavs need. THJ is probably the Mavs 3rd best player and I think Turner would become their 3rd best player pending other deals. I really don't think there is much difference in 31 and 18th picks in draft.  Mavs probably would prefer to trade 31 not to use 1.5 mil of the MLE to sign the 2nd rounder.   THJ and 31 for Sumner and Turner?  THJ can replace VO in the rotation if VO is dealt.

Assuming he/the Lakers win the title, I think this year is LBJ's last title. He's amazing, but you can't fight Father Time forever.

I don't know.  He can opt out in 2 summers and give a discount while they keep AD and chase other superstars.  Maybe that doesn't seem in his DNA but he wants to win titles and being in LA can make money elsewhere.

They also had a flawed roster, no matter how much you and @Hoosierhoopsterwant to ignore it. They don't have a facilitator that can create for others, and when you get to crunch time that matters a lot. That shows up in the second half of playoff games.

Disagreeing is not ignoring.  Had I ignored, I would not of responded.  what is Kawhi suppose to do give the ball to a facilitator in crunch time just so a facilitator can give it back to him.  I saw the Clippers missing a lot of open shots.  I think having a faciltator is pretty low on the list of reasons they lost.
