That site is full of crap. Please don’t bring it over here. You would be better off never going over there again. It’s like diarrhea of the mouth over there.

Plus even if your premise was true and they are gone we had two kids transfer plus an assistant coach get fired as well. It’s futile to try to pin this on Romeo. Even so it could be a kid on our current team still is the one that had a problem but it was with someone that is gone (but not that persons fault).

That site has actually gotten a lot more positive lately.  Fpeaugh doesn't know what to do with himself.

People guessing or intentionally trying to stir things up.

Not implying anything bad about Romeo.  But were the reported chemistry issues true or not?  If so what caused them?

What did 0708 mean when he said that the chemistry issues were ones the staff could not easily deal with?  And he then said not to expect Archie to recruit anymore OADs.  I wonder what he meant.

I agree with your stance.  Overall, I am on board with the view that we should have a nucleus of 3-4 year players.  This requires class balance and experience year after year.  You'd have a lot of players ranked, say, 40-200.  These would be four stars and high three star players.  The three star types would have certain attributes that earn them the IU slot, perhaps it's their motor, makeup, leadership, defense, size, smarts, etc.  Something that makes them "Indiana" players.

However, there are transformative in-state talents like Romeo Langford that you have to try to get.  He is an Indiana legend, and aside from just on the court talent, he's the type of kid you try to land. He transcends the on-the-court product.  And he can be a valuable piece on a good team, if he has veterans who know how to play around him.  Romeo was a team player all the way.  He would have fit in very nicely with a veteran, smart, experienced group.

Do we know officially what caused the chemistry problem last season?  I thought maybe Devonte or Justin but both are still here.  An supposed insider on the other site said we had a cancer last season and he is now gone.  I assume he wasn't talking about Juwan or Zach.

So if Leal would happen to come in and go absolutely bonkers his freshman year, which would be completely unexpected by everyone, and he chose to enter the draft, would that be held against him in your eyes?  He wouldn't have intended to be a OAD.  Should he pass up millions because he doesnt want people to feel like he was using IU as a 9 month internship?

I know you are speaking more of the Duke/UK type, just playing devils advocate a lil bit.

Completely different scenario.  According to CoachSS this was all planned before Romeo even set foot on campus.  In other words he was one and done no matter what.  If Trayce for example blows up this year into a 1st rounder and wants to go then I'll gladly cheer him.  To clarify, I never want another OAD no matter what or someone who doesn't even go to class the second semester.

I have to think mile is cheering you.on after reading this post.  Haha

And I disagree. IU was not a business decision.

Keion Brools to UK was a business decision. Romeo stayed in state to play for a struggling program with an unproven coach. Sounds like a risky business move, if anyrhing.

And coming back repeatedly, wearing candy stripes on draft day, and recruiting Geronimo all speaks to loyalty much more than business.

I just will never understand any negativity towards Romeo. I just can not grasp it at all.

Are you calling Tim Langford a liar?

  6. 2 hours ago, BobSaccamanno said:

Unlike Bracey Wright and Noah Vonleh, Romeo has embraced IU and obviously is spending time in Bloomington.  And he's visibly helping the program by helping with recruiting.  And he's an Indiana legend who took all that in.

As a player, if you look at his stats, he put up some good numbers while having tons of problems around him.  This was with an injured wrist and without forcing up shots like Bracey.  And he played hurt unlike Vonleh.  If anything, I wished we empowered him more.

I see a lot of distinctions between Romeo on one hand and Vonleh and Wright (two of my least favorite IU players).

Sorry I just can't embrace a OAD whose decision to attend IU was purely a "business decision".

I think he was taking an extreme example to make his point.  That's how I took it, anyway.

Regarding Romeo, I heard a guy say "Let's face it, he had a very forgettable career."  I was apoplectic.  I have said it several times, but this is a kid who was very visible and high profile. He selected IU and deserves our respect especially after seeing another Indiana kid snub IU.

But now you're seeing his pied piper effect as he's showing school loyalty and pride.  Making a noticeable impact on Geronimo is just one part of the puzzle.  He's proving to all the naysayers that he's an IU guy all the way.

He's right up there with Bracey Wright and Noah Vonleh to me.  Just my opinion. Everyone's entitled to their own.  For me, I hope Archie never recruits a OAD again.

BTW.  I love Geronimo.  He seems to get what being a Hoosier means.  Thrilled he's a Hoosier.  I just hope the 2020 class is 4 instead of 5 or 6.

If you can get 6 quality guys you take them.  I think Archie has learned that a bird in the hand if worth more than 2 in the bush.  Now you don't reach for a project like a Jake Forrester but if you can get 5-6 quality guys like Galloway, Leal and Geronimo you take them.  There's no guarantee we get any of the 2021 guys and I don't think we currently lead for any except Lander.

I feel this way about Matt Painter. Absolutely hate Purdue, but got to meet & talk to Painter due to some work related things and came away really liking the guy. Still don't like Purdue (never will) but kind of root for Painter. It's very odd.

Didn't he cheat on his wife with a cheerleader or is that an urban legend?  If so he's a scumbag.

They are bringing him back to a place that is familiar to him.

It will be nice to have him back but the circumstances behind it just suck.  He was a quick witted guy and if you read between the lines, it sounds like that is going away.

Yeah sounds to me like he knows the time is near and doesn't want to leave with any regrets.  It's always better late than never but I really wish this had happened 10 years ago.

What is up with that?  The "stars" don't get people to watch?

I've said for years that the NBA needs a franchise tag like the NFL.  This free agency stuff has become beyond ridiculous.  People just aren't going to care when the vast majority of the teams never have a chance to compete.

Those who thought Kawhi was not going to come out and play, or was somehow not the player he once was, well, nope. He's playing like a top 3 player, again. Good to see him healthy, and Raptors are better.

Yeah he's very good.  Not top 3 as I'd still take Lebron, KD, and AD but he's probably top 5 or 6.

So the team in 2013-2014 wasn't a threat, I would consider making it to the ECF significant?  The team in the early 2000s were not a threat? I know its early(only 1 game) but assuming the bench can play like this 75 or 80% of the games, I cannot think of a better bench over the last 10 years or so that the Pacers have had.

They've never been a true threat to win it all.  The Shaq/Kobe Lakers team was way better.  They wouldn't have even made the CF that season if they weren't playing in the Least.

    UPDATE:

I got my Roku Ultra in the mail yesterday. And installed it this morning.  With the help of the same lady from Hulu was able to connect to Hulu Live TV.   Am now watching the BTN .   Plus I got the upgrade for unlimited devices.  I can watch the BTN (as well as many other channels) on any tv in the house, and outside as well.  I don't use a smart phone. But I could watch the BTN live if I had a smart phone.   It's early, but so far I am thrilled with Hulu Live TV.  Picture and sound are terrific.

Mile, DTV Now is offering a great promotion where if you prepay for 3 months they will give you a free 4k Apple tv.  So for $105 thats the basic package times 3 you're getting a free 4k Apple tv which sells for over $150.  A no risk way to try it out for a few months.  Just thought I'd mention it.

You're being kind...Lue is the Little Ricky of the NBA...without the skilled but sleazy father.

...and yes...that's all on LeBron. I don't know how good Blatt was as a coach, but he's surely better than Tyron Lue.

I won't be surprised if Gilbert fires Lue as soon as Lebron bolts.

I just disagree with you because I think the competition that MJ went through is far better than what Lebron went through.  The Warriors and whatever team Lebron is on are the only two great teams in this era.  Also remember when Jordan frir started he had to deal with the Celtics of the mid 80's which were one of the best teams of all time.

It was.  The Cavs barely got by the lowely Pacers this year and the Celtics who were missing their 2 best players.  All the Cleveland teams Lebron has had would have struggled mightily with the bad boy Pistons, the Ewing Knicks, or Reggie's Pacers.

Lebron is great he's just not the GOAT.   His finals streak is impressive but he's played in the least his entire career where most seasons 4 of the top 5 teams in the league were out West.

LBJ is the GOAT.  Not sure what else he has to do to gain that title.

Win 2 more titles.  At least.  We are talking about dethroning MJ.  The man ESPN ranked ahead of guys like Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicklaus, etc as the greatest athlete ever.  Not an easy feat.
