Geronimo causes me more health problems than work or my wife. He is so frustrating to me and that’s probably an understatement. I know I don’t see what happens in practice but seeing how lost Geronimo was and how he kept getting in TJD’s way we have to play Malik and Banks more. I know CMW is doing what he thinks is best for the team and hoping it just clicks for Geronimo but I feel he has actually regressed and he cost us the Iowa game. Things are stagnant when he is out there on offense and he constantly gets burned on defense unless he is in position to block a shot. Even his supposed strength which is rebounding he hasn’t been good at. I try not to be negative against our players if possible but he has me finally boiled over after all year of ditzy play.

If we have an assistant coach leave I’d actually consider Cupps dad if he could be a good recruiter because I think he could bring some wrinkles to our offense that we are truly limited on currently.

So I’m very stoked! For Christmas my wife got me two tickets to IU vs Illinois even though she can’t go so a buddy of mine is going with me. This will be only my 3rd time ever going. We will come to town Friday night. I have the following questions…. 1.) Where is the top 3 places to get food? 2.) Also where is best place to go after dinner for best atmosphere? We are in our high 30s/early 40s. 3.) where is best place to get breakfast? 4.) where is best place to go before the game? 5.) what time do gates open? 6.) where is best place to park to not walk far but also get out fast after the game? 7.) does anyone have connections for a parking pass that I can buy? The sad thing is we are taking al of this and Woody won’t change a dang thing most likely haha!!

I don’t understand why we don’t play Leal for 5-6 minutes a game to help with that depth. He was serviceable last year and can do well enough things in those minutes to help. I also think banks can play the 3/4 depending on need as well to help with depth. Also we literally played Gunn in first half only and when he was on the floor the intensity on defense picked up so much. Once his shot starts falling that man is gonna be baddddd!!!

I think that’s a fair point. I’ve just been overly frustrated by not only Race but our stagnant offense. My concern with doing a 4 out with Race is he will take wayyyy too many threes and not make them like usual haha

I know he’s a freshman but I think Gunn doesn’t get enough play, I also think Leal could play 5-6 minutes to help with that. I know banks is big but to me he plays more like a 3 than a 4 so I’d experiment with that because he looked like a lost puppy when playing in a 3/2 offensive setup vs a 4/1 but much more comfortable playing outside because I’d assume he was main scoring option on his team and didn’t post up a lot and played more from the perimeter.

That’s what I would personally do. We don’t rebound great as is in regards to boxing out for one plus because our guards say so much they collapse on boards too

Honestly I’d start Bates and move Miller to the 4 because against most teams he can hang defensively then offensively 4 out and TJD top of key and pick and roll into position.

It’s simple. The starting lineup is the issue. Even with TJD it has been an issue. I love Woody but if his assistant coaches don’t hold him accountable and tell him he needs to stop running these lineups out there that cause the slow start each half them that’s an issue. Race should not start the rest of the season unless TJD is out again. He is better without him most of the time and I think he could use a demotion to light a fire under his turnover prone lazy defense self.

With the way Race played without Trauve I want to see Race coke in with the second unit against some better teams. Race just seems like a completely different player with Trayce in the floor. He’s timid, shoots wayyyy more threes than he should be, and turns the ball over at a much higher rate.

I mean I’m not opposed to it if he proves himself but after Mike Davis I think Indiana is skeptical of going with a first year coach IMO.

I could actually see him having a huge rise and getting a head coaching job in a couple years then coming back to IU when Woodson leaves.

Amen!!! I understand our defense is aggressive but how do we have arguable an all American big man and guards who drive the crap out of the ball and we lose the fouls? Only reason it even seemed close against UNC is because UJC fouled a ton at the end. I wonder if Woody can send tapes tkk on big ten refs to have them review and clean some things up. Also I better not see one more technical called on us for taunting after seeing Rutgers and Nebraska player doing it to JG.

Great win Fellas!!!!! 1.) the refs were absolutely horrible on those charges. 2.) I don’t understand how Race has regressed l. He is just playing with zero confidence or something but as a 6th year senior he shouldn’t be missing the shots he’s missing but glad to see he limited his threes tonight and didn’t chuck multiple up like he has been. 3.) This is the second game in a row X has tried to force wayyyy too much because JHS isn’t in the lineup and ask these last two games teams are sagging in the lane so his normal drives and passes aren’t working so he’s gonna have to adjust. 4.) JHS hurts us not because of his scoring and passing but because it messed up the chemistry of that second unit of Bates Galloway and Reneau. 5.) JG is regressing as well I feel. He looks like a lost puppy out there and his strength of rebounds and dunks aren’t there. I really hope by later in season Banks will be ready because I think he has so much more to offer than JG. 6.) if Kopp can keep ball faking and driving in like he has that changes how people defend us and ultimately help him. 7.) when JHS comes back I’d like to see more mid range jumpers and driving with kick out to our shooters. 8.) if Galloway has truly fixed his three point shot holy moly he’s gonna be insanely valuable going forward.
