  1. If he does not like IU, then his strategy is bad. I think the publicity is good for us. Edit: Dakich definitely wants IU to be good... he just also want Alford as the head coach.
  2. Big question now: Can we actually beat NW twice (and no overtimes)?
  3. I think it would have to be extremely dislocated to lift it over their head!
  4. To be honest, I think both of them like IU and want Indiana to be good.
  5. He will probably be asked to play a less important role here - might free things up. I do not think we take this commitment if Woodson was not nearly 100% sure he filled a clear need. It is not like we are trying to fill 5 spots right now. If anything, we start to be in a numbers crunch.
  6. For us, yes. For the team, they need to learn a new offense and defense, get to know the new coaching staff, recover from the PTSD associated with the last couple of seasons, and learn how to win. They need time...
  7. I don't see it. I think everyone will have an opportunity to play next year (I think with a faster pace, the minutes will be better distributed). Chance to develop and win. Why would anybody leave?
  8. In the end it was pretty much what some speculated here: Basically said he liked a slow-methodical system. Does not have to learn a new defense. He did well under the system with Archie and UVA does it better.
  9. Do you remember when the Big East had six fouls and then changed it to 5 because of tournament struggles?
  10. That makes sense. If Brunk is clever (and wants to be a lawyer), he will go a place with a good law degree and basketball team for which he is WAY to good so he does not have to work as hard on his training (UPENN or Yale or something - if they offer athletic scholarships).
  11. It probably is the law school's rule (I do not know anything about the rule itself). But assuming someone at IU imposes this rule and Brunk wants to have his law degree (partially) paid for with his athletic scholarship, he would have to go somewhere else. Law school is not cheap...
  12. My opinion: Mangas coming would be excellent for Leal. The coaching staff will be developing their offense in the next year. Mangas coming could cause them to build a role that Leal could step into the following year. I do not see any reason that Leal will not pan out. He was only a freshman in a Covid year. My understand from people in the know was that he would be a junior/senior contributor. He seems right on pace to me.
  13. I think the point was that Brunk wants to start his law degree and have the first year paid for with a Basketball scholarship and IU said that they did not want him in law school and on the team. I am not saying that this is the case, just that I believe it is what was being discussed.
  14. With the new transfer rules, it could be a nice tradition going forward to give a senior/grad transfer player that grew up an IU fan a year on the team. Someone with a particular skill that can help us and will be happy to play his part.
  15. +1 I felt it was more a "not much I could have done there". If anything, the Brunk situation might have fallen into the "other people in his ear" part of the discussion (although I do not believe that was explicitly about Brunk).
  16. Speculating, but our interest may depend on who else we might get from the portal. One year from a shooter is more interesting than banking the scholarship.
  17. Probably the same kind of coach he was in the NBA: focused on player development.
  18. I hope we at least kick the tires on this one. If he is interested, healthy, and a cultural fit, a player like that would really change our ceiling next year.
  19. I loved Harrar's game, but I am not sure he fits what we want to do going forward. Fit is the most important factor.
  20. Plus Durham had already graduated and played 4 full years.
  21. To quote a commercial: most of the players will be turning pro in something other than basketball... Whether they appreciate at first or not, we owe them an education.
