Obviously, either would completely change our game.... but I personally do not think many bubble teams are only one elite (college level) player away from a title. Compare to the 2012-2013 team, aside from Yogi (FR) vs. XJ (SR) I am not sure I would take anyone from this team over their comparator from that team: Hulls > Steward, VO > Kopp, Wat maybe wash with Thompson (ironically, I think Thompson would have been a better fit on the '12-'13 team and Wat's 3 point shooting would help this team more) and (as much as I LOVE TJD) Zeller > TJD. Even Sheehy (JR) was better than Galloway (SO) - albeit I think Galloway's trajectory (i.e., improving shot) makes his long-term ceiling MUCH higher) PS: This is not a knock on this team, I LOVE THEM and believe they will find a way into at least the sweet 16.

Same two I would have looked at... Watford could shoot it as well. Response to the second question: NO - unless it is an NBA player in their prime (maybe Lebron or Curry... and even then)

He counts as leaving twice

Honestly, I wish Coach Woodson would force TJD to shoot a few more jumpers as well (maybe not 3 pointers). I think he can hit them as well, you just needs a few to go through the hoop in a game. The fact is we are not going very far if we have two 6-8/9 guys camped out all game two feet from the basket. Too easy to defend. PLUS: RACE HAS EARNED THE RIGHT TO SHOOT A FEW THREES A GAME.

Honestly, TJD would be easy to fit on a championship caliber roster. If he was not the only focal point of an offense, he would be amazing.

I never saw (nor heard on the radio) the '75-'76 team nor the '80-'81 team and only listened to the '86-'87 team on the radio... so certainly recency bias: IT Alford Dipo May (corrected from TJD per rules that I did not read 😆) TJD (I do not know the other centers well and want 'Dipo in the starting five over Zeller) Yogi Zeller (had to cut Watford) Thompson - need guys like him Why no '92-'93?!?!

2022 CG Jalen Hood-Schifino Commits to INDIANA!!

Mike Woodson once had a bad hair day and yelled at his hair. The hair was so terrified it slid back into his head and hasn't grown since. -

When Mike Woodson yells at the refs, the refs give themselves a technical. -

Mike Woodson was exposed to the Coronavirus. The virus is now in quarantine for a month. -
I guess they could live with a 1 game suspension every year!

OR a #4: he is still in the dog house

PSU nearly shut him out at Wisconsin.

Any hope for us? -
Some person on the Assembly Call postgame chat mob said it was related to something they were doing on a video on instagram the night before that has since been removed. I have no idea if it is reliable. The fact is this will set the tone and establish which types of recruit who consider us.

That was rough; let's see if they come back hungry on Saturday.

I am pretty sure everyone agrees that the biggest football rivalry is Rutgers/Maryland 😉

I will miss the nameless jersey's, but I want to win in all legal ways. Besides, imagine if we could have bought a Calbert Cheaney in early '90s. That would be AWESOME... in fact I would not mind having a Chaney, a Watford, and a Yogi jersey. (Jury is still out on a TJD jersey) It would make IU and the players a lot of money - there is no way this is not happening long term.

This 100 times. I think it will take a couple for Coach Woodson to really build the type roster he wants. However, it is nice to not stink during the rebuild. This team was put together with band-aids and rubber bands and even if we are not really in contention for the title, we can still have a major say in who wins or loses and maybe win a couple in the tourney. That is not bad.

FYI: I do not think that IU - PU is a bigger national rivalry than Louisville/UK. IU-PU is definitely a regional rivalry; more regional than UK-Louisville. Unless you live in Indiana or are a fan of one of the teams, nobody cares. In fact when we play UK regularly, I consider it the more important rivalry. But from my experience, Louisville-UK is also a regional rivalry (it does not really move the needle outside the region) and more imbalanced. There may be split fans in the Louisville metropolitan area, but I have almost NEVER seen a Louisville flag anywhere that isn't in the Louisville metropolitan area. I only have impressions, but Kentucky is not a state with a divided fandom. There are split fans near Louisville an then the entire rest of the state bleeds Kentucky blue. Not as bad as UC-Ohio State fandom splits, but still pretty bad. If regionality is not an issue and intensity is the target, I think UC - XU blows away Duke/UNC (having experienced both). Those fans actually hate each other, it is not part of a show or something.

For me the difference is this: I feel confident that we will have a chance to win every game. The past few years after a tough loss like saturday, I would be worried about a snowball effect. We may not win at NW (they are much than their record indicates - they have lost almost every close game), but I am not worried about whether we will come to play.

The Legend of Brad Stevens
GaloisGroupe replied to Muddy River's topic in General Basketball Discussion
I understand the animosity, but he was and would still be an excellent college coach. I love having Woodson and believe he may build something even better, but I think Stevens would have been very successful at IU. If he were to choose Louisville, he would probably win big. He would become persona-non-grata for me if he chose Louisville after turning us down (I can accept him staying in Boston/NBA, but Louisville...) but I don't doubt what he would do on the court. At this stage I have nothing against Stevens. I still think his explanation is misunderstood and misrepresented at times. I thought it was nice. Regardless, my coach is on the sidelines. -
so close

I swear I thought they were trying to determine who recovered the fumble on that last jump call.

Pretty close, big ten basketball!

I wonder why espn thinks the rutgers will be a more likely win
