Man, I used to hate Eminem, but over the years as I've been exposed to more of his work and really listened to him, I realize the dude is crazy talented. I remember a few years ago when Drake said something about a "rap battle" with Eminem and people are on Twitter were like, "Dawg, that's not a good idea..." First time I've seen this one, but like you mentioned, the double/triple entendres are killer. When it shows him walking to the sink, talking about having alcohol breath - "as I reach for the Scope." But it's not the scope you think.

Self-reported mask wearing is not super accurate - 85% mask wearing where? We don't even see that number in NYC. Never heard of this guy, but this is what he leads with: Telling people that masks don't work or that they are a tool to control people, does not seem super smart since we are already struggling, but I'm sure some people eat it up.

Ha, even better a Belushi samurai! I really do prefer a buzz cut, but happy wife, happy life. She likes it long. Now it feels like it's short, but it's the longest I think it's ever been. Same story, different service branch. In boot camp at Great Lakes, the Navy barbers were brutal to recruits. I had pretty long hair then and they were laughing and making fun of me. Didn't really matter, b/c we all looked the same after that.

I haven't had my hair cut since probably January. I'd love a buzz cut, but my wife prefers it long. She's definitely getting her wish this year. I've even been wearing it up in a man bun - I tell myself I'm a samurai.

I REALLY need to give Alabama Shakes a proper chance. I've never really listened to their stuff or her solo work, but I know I would dig it.

This is interesting and it reminds me of something that I always try to keep in my head when I'm talking to people about COVID-19. Not directed at you Reacher, but your post reminded me of it. If you were not here in NYC in March and April, you literally have NO concept about how bad things were or could be - soaring daily death counts, 24/7 sirens, no one outside of their house. The fear and paranoia were palpable. This was all so new and it felt like a wave of death/infection washing over us. It felt like the virus was lurking everywhere. Conversely, and this is what I have to remind myself a lot on here, if you lived in an area with no deaths, very low infections, and still had significant shutdowns, it's probably natural to think of this as a huge over-reaction. The differences in our experiences are vast and obviously are thoughts about it are different.

I can see us doing what you are doing at some point - staggered schedules. Like you, not excited about commuting again.

Wilco is one of the best bands I've ever seen in concert. Just really good musicianship and crafting of tunes. I saw them at the Murat in Indy about 15-20 years ago and was just blown away.

Good for them to relocate, the PNW is just freaking beautiful and it won't beat you down the way NYC can. I totally get their decision. It's very mixed these days. There's a good number of people who left in March and have returned after the end of summer. They don't seem to understand while the rest of us are still so cautious. I just came back from a 20 minute walk to the beer shop and I would say half of the people I saw weren't really wearing masks - just chin straps. That's definitely differnt in the last few weeks. I do feel like we've (my wife and I) returned to some sense of normalcy. We've been getting out for long walks in the mornings and sidewalk dining every weekend. All of our local places (that havent' shuttered for good) are pretty much open with limited numbers of people let inside (usually 5-7). People are used to waiting in lines here, so not that big of a deal. The big avenue by our place is now closed on the weekends to traffic, so it's like 6 lanes of people partying and hanging out on socially distanced blankets. All of the restaurants have set up tables in the middle of the street and seem to be doing good business - though not pre-pandemic levels. Last night, we were walking home and came upon dueling marching bands entertaining the crowds of people. That was pretty cool. We still aren't taking public transportation or working in the office. Our department isn't going back to the office this fall and most likely not this winter. The only major issue is traffic. SO many people have now purchased cars, so it takes almost longer to drive somewhere than walk. And if you give up your parking space during the week, it takes at least an hour to find another on your return home. @Reacher promised me that the real estate prices were going to be coming down, but it looks like everyone is moving to Brooklyn! We are willing to be patient and are happy in our current rental though. We have friends who just moved here from CA and they are looking to buy a place upstate. Every time they find someplace interesting, it's already sold for all cash and usually over the asking price. Lots of rich a**holes in Manhattan are buying apparently.

We had heard this very early on and have been soaking up the sun every day as much as we can.

I've talked to so many people who have had the same problem w/ tomatoes this year. It was our first subpar tomato year here. Kind of a bummer.

Gotta admit, it's nice having a cat again. We haven't had one for a couple of years and they are a lot of fun. They just have a different 'tude than a dog does.

I think @Leatherneckswins the pepper and tomato volume contest! I just pulled up the last of our tomato plants, as they were mostly spent and really taking up a lot of space on the far end of our terrace. Looks a lot cleaner without them.

@Drroogh beat me to it, but yes! Super cute. We actaully got Otis b/c our building now has mice. We are on the fourth floor, but still. Hope he's a good mouser! Now, that's an Otis that I forgot about. Loved how he would just grab the keys and let himself in "his cell." My exact first thought when "Otis, my man!" was mentioned. I'll get a pic of him today as he's become much more active.

We just adopted a cat last night! His family moved about 6 weeks ago and left him in the apartment (I hate people). Luckily, someone rescued him and he ended up with an adoption agency that we already have a relationship with b/c of our dachshund Greta (RIP). We haven't had a cat for a couple of years and it's kind of weird, but he's a very cool dude. I expected him to hide for the first 72 hours, but he's already venturing about and trying out his new surroundings. He's three, so not a kitten, but still kind of lanky. Our remaining dachshund Chloe LOVES him and so wants to be his best friend. He's definitely not sure about that, but really adjusting well already. His name is Otis - full name is Mr. Otis Mittington b/c he's a grey/white tuxedo cat with white paws.

It's all archived in there. I was only able to keep up with the first hour and then had to get back to work. Mostly good questions from users about what he thinks are best practices to get out of this mess. Also thought it was interesting that he talked about his own behaviors.

An IU doctor is doing a Reddit AMA about his recent NYT column on COVID - just started at noon, but already has a ton of posts. For non-Redditors, an AMA is a regular feature by people (usually famous/semi-famous, or experts) called "Ask Me Anything." And you guessed it, people ask them questions related to the subject. Should be interesting.

Oh man, SO good. Haven't listened to him in ages. Reminds me of the time when my wife and I were at a very small concert in Bloomington and the opening act was this "unknown-to-us" act called Jurassic 5. Now, they are the group that we have seen the most live - saw them recently here in Brooklyn and it was the all original guys with grey in their beards. J5 - Quality Control Just good music with a good beat and good message!

Thanks! It's definitely a lot of work putting them all in there. I think I had like 200 albums when I started inputting them. I would just do a 10-20 each evening. Now, I just add them shortly after I get them.

Even though I prefer listening to records, I definitely recognize the importance and ease of streaming. It's also an incredible way to sample things before you decide to buy the whole album. Yep, @tdhoosierwas the one who turned me onto Khruangbin on here and now I have two of their albums on vinyl. 🤠
