  1. This reminds me of watching Sammy Terry. Good times!
  2. It’s embarrassing that Doctors Without Borders are now looking at us like some third world country. What a farce. And I still have relatives that say this is all going away after Nov 3. It’s now the 12th and it’s NOT going away.
  3. If people would just wear the damn masks consistently, avoid indoor crowds, practice social distancing, etc then we wouldn’t need a lockdown of any kind. This isn’t rocket science. Too many people value their own individual freedoms over protecting their community. These next six months are going to be rough. We are starting to stock up for the “the hunkering” v2.0.
  4. Of course! I’ll see if I can dig up a pic.
  5. I love that you used the term Spicoli’s ex squeeze. 😂 Spicoli is my go to Halloween costume, though I haven’t done it for a few years.
  6. I always order a four pack at least or an 8 pack. Find a seller that has tons of Trillium, pick the four you want and it’s usually like $14 or 15 for combined shipping. Still steep for sure, but you can get beers you can’t normally get. My wife is always like, “Hey, we got another package. Did you order more beer?”
  7. Very rarely. When I see it, I grab it. You might regret clicking on this link, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Prices are a bit much, but if there’s ever a beer that you want, but can’t get locally... https://www.mybeercollectibles.com/search?parent_id=&keywords=trillium I’ve bought Monkish cans that we can’t get on the East Coast from this site a few times and it’s always quick and easy.
  8. Sports Ballin’ is a collaboration between four breweries - Other Half (here in Brooklyn), Equilibrium, Vitamin Sea, and Trillium. It’s an 8% ABV Double IPA and it’s delicious! They did this during The Last Dance documentary airing, so I always picture it as Michael and Larry.
  9. I knowI I hate giving away our black gold. Actually I don’t mind b/c our compost goes to the community garden’s plant beds and they also sometimes sell compost to raise money. Would like to use ours though. Looking into it!
  10. I really need to set up a compost situation here, but we have limited space. We keep our compost materials in bags and then drop them off weekly at a local community garden. Maybe one those tumbling ones that have been mentioned.
  11. That last point is spot on. That group was easy to fill b/c there were so many cases. We had the opposite happen for one of our big trials this summer, it was in the midst of recruiting when positive cases here plummeted. It was hard to enroll people, b/c of so few positives.
  12. All good points, there are a few more weeks to get some more solid answers. Also, should be able to see the data by then. Even Fauci admitted that he hadn’t seen the data yet. High risk, pregnant women, and children trials will come later. Moderna’s vaccine is reportedly very similar in structure, so the 90% bodes well for that one too. We’re not there yet, but this is a good development. Allows just a bit more light at the end of the tunnel. I have not talked to any of my faculty about it yet, so I’m curious what people way smarter than me think.
  13. Don’t know if people have been following the drum battle between Dave Grohl and the Whiz kid Nandi Bushell, but it’s a pretty fun story. The videos are hilarious. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/09/arts/music/dave-grohl-nandi-bushell-drums.html?searchResultPosition=1
  14. Ha, no nothing fancy. Was the entire school of medicine staff and faculty on automatic mute. But, it still felt kind of personal. He started by talking about being a five foot seven starting guard on his Brooklyn HS team. His specialty was a “deadly set shot, which I know kind of dates me.”
  15. So, we had a virtual Q&A with Dr. Fauci earlier today and he talked about the vaccine first, which wasn’t really on the agenda. He looks so happy about this. Even said like @tdhoosier that he had been hoping for 70% as a good mark. The CEO of Pfizer had called him last night to tell him the news. He did stress that this was another tool in the fight, but doesn’t mean we can celebrate and go back to mask-less parties all the time. Still need to wear masks, avoid indoor crowds, wash hands, etc. until enough people receive the vaccine - likely late Spring/early Summer of 2021, It’s pretty damn good news though.
  16. That’s pretty much the same for me. I do rip out the tomatoes, peppers, and annual flowers. But everything else stays over the winter and I’m always pleasantly surprised to see the rosemary, lavender, and salvias coming back so strong in Spring.
  17. Good idea. I really need to do a better job at this - and labeling what plants were what so I’m not surprised by them next Spring when they come back.
  18. I won’t even link to it, I hate it so much. Jefferson Starship - We Built This City (on Rock and Roll). So lame it makes me embarrassed for them.
  19. Paulie, I hope your recovery is easy and full. One of our friends was one of the first cases here in Brooklyn (she’s a doctor at a hospital in Long Island). She recovered pretty quickly, but we were really worried b/c we knew so little about it then. My wife talked to her earlier this week and she’s been really struggling with neurological issues since getting COVID. At this point, she sometimes has trouble walking properly and is not back to a full work week.
  20. That’s the problem. We would most likely be fine getting together with my in-laws, but if everyone thought that way then there are a TON of gatherings that lead to more infections. I’d rather just sacrifice now to keep the spread a bit lower. I LOVE Christmas with my in-laws, which is steeped in tradition for us, but I’m just not seeing it as a smart thing to do. We’ve made all of these sacrifices up to now, why mess it up. But yes, too many of us only care about ourselves. Not happy with the huge increase of tourists in NYC w/o masks. And probably half of these are from overseas, but still. We’ve worked damn hard here in NYC to get where we are and sacrificed way too much for Italian and American tourists to come here and be cavalier about masks. Today I went in to Manhattan to take my wife to the doctor and was not happy to see so many tourists taking pictures of places boarding up for post-election issues. It was like a party for them.
  21. My wife just told her folks that we will not be going to MD for Thanksgiving. It’s just not a good look. I’ve been watching the cases rise in Midwest and Upper Midwest and am really worried. A large portion of my family in IN are of the “this will all be gone after Nov 3rd” variety and I’ve just stopped talking to them. I can’t deal with their willful ignorance. People know better, they just let politics get the better of them. This virus does not care who is president. We couldn’t be in a worse situation heading into late fall and winter. We, along with the rest of Europe, should have got a handle on this in the summer, when it would have been much easier for people to handle. Not liking how things are trending and I don’t have lot of faith that enough people know how to follow simple directions.
  22. So, the local rescue org that we support sent out a recent plea for kitten fosters. My wife convinced me that now is the perfect time to foster and so we picked up two 8 week old kittens yesterday. One of them, we dropped off to a family here in Brooklyn last night and this is the other one. Our dachshund Chloe grew up with cats and she is over the moon happy to have a kitten in the house again. Otis is ignoring her so far. We haven’t had a kitten since college, so it’s a little weird. We are keeping her separate from Chloe and Otis at night for now. She does seem to want to be right where we are at all times.
