I reread my article, she's at an NAIA school, I don't think I fully realized what that meant before.

Still, it remains very possible that next year, or at least sometime soon, it will be more profitable to be at IU than anything short of a first rounder.

I will welcome that, both ideologically and as an IU fan.

I've been saying for a while now that this could convince players to stay in school longer. Of course, the NCAA will probably find a way to screw it up. They're only really don't it because they're being forced to, after all, and not because they actually want what's best for the athletes.

That more or less gels with what I thought was happening, but this volleyball player is doing it now, in Michigan. I believe she is D2, so I don't know if that changes things at all.

I don't know about D2 at all but I thought they were on the same timeline as D1.

It appears D1 has the rules purposed now and, unsurprisingly, some people think they fall short of what's needed.

It appears the vote was supposed to happen soon, which is much sooner than I thought. NCAA wants to delay this vote, of course.

There is also at least 1 bill in Congress purposed regarding NIL that may force the NCAA to make changes they don't want to if it passes, which had a greater chance more than it had last week.

    D2 NIL:

It appears Michigan had also been looking at passing a law but the target date is Dec '21.

So everything I've seen seems to point to it shouldn't be allowed yet even at D2.

Does anyone know what's going on with college players being able to have sponsorships? I just read an article about some small school volleyball player that has sponsors for her youtube channel and she has not lost her eligibility. That article then linked to an ESPN analysis that said top players could make between 500k and 1 million dollars. I wonder if staying in college next year could be the more profitable move for TJD?

I believe they were supposed to have the proposed rules ready by the end of 2020 to be voted on in the spring and then take effect at the beginning of the '21-'22 school year. We know they're supposed to be allowed to earn NIL money at that time, just not what the exact rules will be yet.

Edit: I think the law passed in Florida went in to effect at the beginning of this year. I don't know if that was delayed to allow the NCAA to catch up.

Like I said in the earlier post, I do think overall we got a favorable whistle. Just thought that was a big moment to miss what seemed to be an obvious over and back.

The official that was closest and made the call was behind and to the side of the Rutgers player. He would've seen the Purdue player take a swipe at the ball. It's not a surprising missed call. Remember, the officials don't always have as good of an angle as the cameras and vice versa. It happens.

was that not over and back when the dude dribbled off his foot?

It was over and back but you're really going to complain about the only bad call that went against Purdue? The officials probably thought the same thing the announcers originally thought, that the Purdue player touched it.

Iowa give up 102 lol Wisconsin clearly the best team in the BIG followed by Illinois.
    1.Wisconsin

    2. Illinois

    3. MSU

    4. Iowa

MSU is 3rd? They're 0-2 with one of those losses being to NW. They also gave up 91 points to Oakland less than 2 weeks ago.

Wisconsin might win the Big 10 again

6 seniors on their team. That kind of experience would help every year but even more so this year after all the interruptions during the off season. Those are seniors who know how to win and are used to it.

  8. Florida's Johnson released from hospital. Apparently it was myocarditis which caused him to collapse. It's been confirmedhe was one of the Florida players who caught COVID over the summer and COVID can cause that. There is no confirmation whether his condition was related to COVID, though.

The Big Ten has more cardiac protocols in place than the SEC does, so hopefully any players who get COVID will be more protected.

Honestly, no. I think he is just that good of a coach. It also helps the ranking that they aren’t challenged in the AAC like they would be in a major conference.

He is a really good coach. I don't think he's cheating in the way of paying players or anything but I do think it's likely he's cheating in the sense of recruiting violations. He showed he doesn't think the rules apply to him and shouldn't have to follow rules he probably considers silly. When he was at IU he tried to disguise his breaking of the rules so it was intentional which shows he has no problem doing so.

We’ve always talked about 13 schollies and how that’s a lot.

My sense is we have got room for Braden when we have that many schollies.  I am fine with it if we have three point guards.

Some guys bring value in terms of chemistry, being hard nosed, culture, etc.

My point is we are perfectly fine finding this kid a spot if our staff likes him which they apparently do.  Somebody had the quote that Archie didn’t care how tall he is.  This is the type of kid where we will regret it if we don’t take him.

Instead of leaving 2 unused scholarships every year it wouldn't hurt to use 1 of those on a development player like this. If the player is ok being a development player and knows he won't see much playing time for a few years.

After seeing us against a couple of teams we seem to be good at photo shopping.

I don't think it's Photoshop but there are certainly ways to manipulate before and after photos without using that and if you look at them that's what they're doing. Different lighting, camera angle, flex vs not flexing, before or after workout are a few ways to manipulate them.

Miami was 1-17 from 3 and shot 58% FTs and beat Purdue. PU was a sizzling 4-25 from 3.

I looked at the gamecast. Purdue had 3 droughts of 4+ minutes. They went on a 6 minute drought after getting that 20 point lead. As we've seen the past few years, it's hard to win games that way, even with a large early lead.
