I’d do that now then IMO

Agreed, they need to create one for him on the recruiting side of things though or at least a position that allows him to interact with recruiting prospects and their families.

After this year can they create a position for Howard or is every team required to have specific positions only? I just don’t see our coaches leaving or Hulls getting promoted before Howard would get poached away and let’s be honest Howard probably isn’t making a ton of money and limit responsibilities that won’t get him where he aspires to go.

I am pretty sure they can create a position for him. Villanova just created one for fundraising or something.

Yes, and that is the exact time everyone started freaking out-- "omg we are getting DeLoach, Sparks, and Ware, how will we shoot, etc"

Guys-- that was never going to happen.

Exactly. Rabby did mention that this one could be revisited if he still does not have a home and after the staff lands what they deem enough shooting. For example, we land Ledlum, Knecht, and another wing scorer and DeLoach still is in the portal. Also he would be guaranteed coming off the bench, so he would have to be ok with that as well. However, I find that scenario (or any scenario with DeLoach coming) extremely unlikely.

The surest indicator of who we were getting was Marni Mooney...our former academic advisor. Just when twitter fired up she only followed the guys she knew we were getting so when all the rumors were going around I just looked up who she followed. Happened there for years with Blackmon Jr being one of the biggest hauls...even with all the UK smoke there.

Guess my point is it's a never a bad thing but people are far more savvy these days.

I remember her and all the smoke around follows by her. What a simpler time that was....

  5. For all you social media follower believers, here is the run down this morning after Ledlum's other visits. This is just based on some brief searching of Instagram and I probably missed a couple.

He follows one St. Johns player

4 people from UT (2 staffers, 1 player)

From IU he follows Clif, Nick Virden (ops analyst), Hulls, Banks, Hogan (walk on), Isaac Green (GA), Cupps, Kel'el, Malik, Trey, X, Leal, and Adam Howard

Do what you want with this info. Ledlum will be a Hoosier, in my opinion.

Honest question: Do we currently have reason to be confident about anyone other than Ledlum? It seems very quiet on anyone else at this point, and with Pitino involved I’m shaky on Ledlum.

I think Ledlum will be a Hoosier. Plus there is almost an entire month left before the portal closes. Very well could see teams filling out their rosters and potentially some potential bigger fish hit the portal. I'm not in panic mode just yet. We've landed Ware and Sparks. If we thro Ledlum in there, that is a very solid start with still 3 spots remaining open.

I know that it's been really quiet for Nick Timberlake on IU's front. But has any school emerged as the leader for him yet? He seems to be keeping his recruitment as close to the vest as Knecht.

I know it's not likely, but I'm still hoping we have a chance with Timberlake. Based on my limited knowledge and deceiving youtube highlights, I still like this guy more than Knecht. Anybody know if we are completely out of it with him?

Visiting UCONN this weekend. They seem to be the favorite at this point in time.

  8. From the Purdue board regarding Kanon:

Last week, Catchings indicated to Purdue that he intended to re-open his recruitment. He did so suddenly and by himself outside of his family and coaches knowledge. It did not go over well with his family and coaches, who have been strongly in purdues corner, and remain so to this day. Since then, conversations between Purdue and the player and the family have been normal. Purdue will have an in-home visit with him Friday. Catchings is a very introverted kid. He’s starting to come out of his shell a little bit.l and does have a bit of an edge to him. He just returned from USA basketball crawling with NBA people, agents and shoe company people. He knocked everyone’s socks off there, per reports. As soon as his ranking spiked people, all kinds of people, were there hounding him….getting in his head. That’s the deal: people Chase the ranking when you have it. There’s nothing illegal about other schools contacting Catchings, but the family appreciates the fact that Painter believed in him early and nobody else did. Catching himself was pissed that nobody else offered him. Including Indiana.

In the past--- the exact day Brunk would transfer, 3 days before knowing Romeo was for sure going to IU, getting a heads up that Kaufman was going to PU, and the fact Lander was committing to IU about 2 days before he did....  have been passed along to me by a "source" who is one of the most connected guys to Indiana HS basketball... and as you'll notice, those were all IN HS basketball kids...

My source says Kanon is coming to IU. His source is NOT twitter. lol

I understand how that sounds, but again, this guy has been nails before and doesn't comment on everything because he simply doesn't have info on everything.

As always, we will see and these things are fluid.

As a 24 or a reclass? Asking because I've seen that floated around different places.

  10. Per Rabby on Ledlum: "IU a very real contender and could end up winning this one. As of right now he feels he should keep his word and make the Tennessee visit."

I believe he said something very similar to this with Ware and his visit to Bama. Chooses his words wisely. Maybe I'm reaching for something that isn't there.

Right. Idk who made this prediction.

The "prediction" for Knecht to Oregon is by their RPM (recruit prediction machine) and it is based off of a bunch of stuff (from their site):

On3 Recruiting Insiders / Visit Center / Fan Site Insiders / Industry Leaders / Social Sentiment

Media Sentiment / Geographic Data / Coaching Staff Success / State and High School Historical Data

The RPM for Knecht is at 100%.

This image is to show the difference in the two. The top is the RPM metric while the bottom is from an actual insider. (This is from a random player that I found that actually has a projection from a human)image.png.c9d348bde1a5efa59ee6c603b0c5d3e2.png
