Jackson or Sorsby?

  1. 1. Who do you think should start at QB for IU going forward after the bye week?

    • Tayven Jackson
      14
    • Brendan Sorsby
      15

This is a great question. Tayven has a ton of arm potential,  and has had some great drives. He also throws high frequently and struggles to make simple reads at times.

Brendan is more mobile and physical as a runner. He has a strong arm, but not quite as much zip as Tayven. I honestly think he was put in worse situations against OSU when they were being evaluated.

Bell had stubborn support of his chosen QB1s. Bazelak was evidence of this. Hopefully coach Carey gives both qb's an honest evaluation, and both get opportunities to get prolonged chances to lead and learn from mistakes without the fear of immediately being yanked.

Both qb's have talent and potential.  Then we add in Dexter. I trust coach Carey to do what's best for the program this season, and also looking towards the future. He seems like a straight shooter that wants the program to be a success. I would think his input will be relied upon heavily as the program evaluates the current situation moving forward.

With a new OC coming in and the OSU vs. ISU context Hoosierinbham points out, it's not a simple question. What I do think is...

1) Carey needs to make the call based on what he sees in the next 10 day or so

2) If #1 is close (meaning Carey can't make a definitive decision in that time span), then Sorsby deserves a chance, even if not the starter, to get a legit look.

Doesn’t matter right now. We are likely losing out.

Just pick the one you think has potential and get them experience. Probably both will transfer out regardless but try to get one in position to be decent next year.

How many significant contributors will be back at all if we continue in free fall the rest of this season? If you really think about the fall off the cliff following TA's two bowl seasons, the lack of an obvious, established, reliable QB candidate period is probably the biggest factor. Or at least that coupled with poor o-line play.

The entire offensive side of the ball including most significantly the coordinators have been the biggest reason. Just embarrassingly bad.
