Who-Dey Hoosier
Need some help, I've got a friend whose son pitches for Iowa and he's bringing the family into Bloomington when they play. Could someone recommend a steak house for them when they visit? I haven't been to Bloomington in too many years so I can't help him with this one. I appreciate the help!! milehiiu
Now. This is a topic I can sink my teeth into. Never been here. However, I hear it is kind of an icon steak place in the great city of B-town. A must try for me if I ever make it back to Bloomington Janko's Little Zagreb

HoosierFaithful
I found Jankos leaving a bit to be desired, tbh, but would agree it's at worst a top 3 steak in BTown

Just curious. I remembered Colorado steakhouse before they closed and reopened being really good but Bloomington doesn't have very many steakhouses. I know it's a chain but Longhorn is very good. HoosierFaithful
Bobby’s did a good one, I agree. Honestly don’t have a third but that speaks more to the bad selection of steak than anything tbh.

Billingsley99
Gotta go many years back but best steakhouse is Jankos but best steak was the Drunken Nellie Filet at Colorado Steakhouse. That was prior to the Barzilauskas family taking it over.
Inequality
Never been impressed with Jankos. The manager threw me out one night when I told him I was pretty sure I could take off my leather belt, cover it in steak sauce, gnaw on it until it turns white and get the exact same experience he served me on a plate. Given all the different types of food and different cultural places to eat....it's just not a steak town.

I'm on good terms with a butcher from my local Kroger. The top 5% of the stuff they get in generally doesn't hit the sales floor, and it's usually steakhouse quality. Even if it's a large chain grocery store, a decent butcher is a handy guy to know. If you want an extra thick porterhouse....done. Custom cut and trimmed roasts, easy. Coarse grind beef for chili? Yep. And it's usually off of the better stuff in the back.
