The refs may have blown calls but IU still had a chance with TJD at the line and couldn’t covert. We also had a 9 min drought. You cannot go 9 minutes without scoring and miss your free throws at the end and expect to win. The B1G refs suck but that’s every game. You have to overcome that and take advantage of opportunities. These scoring droughts are killing us. Archie makes some bad subs at times and it seems to contribute to these scoring problems. Good effort today. Gotta win two at home now.

I hate to blame officiating, and yes we could have done things to win despite the officiating, but it’s virtually impossible to win a close game on the road, or really any close game, when every singe call goes against you in the last two minutes. That was just terrible.

IU wins with even mediocre officiating. The last two minutes were a travesty, but cockburn getting to throw elbows and bully around at will was equally bad.

The elbow to Rob and then the trash talk, al being hit on the arm, trip on rob at end (at least thats what I think)

That’s life on the road in the Big Ten.  They at least competed and executed reasonably well.  Just couldn’t stop Cockburn in the second half, and it’s tough to overcome having zero guards on the roster that are qualified to be starters in the Big Ten.  Our bubble status is going to come down to the Wisconsin game and BTT... Gonna be sweating it out until the very end.

Didn’t watch the game, but according to Twitter and here the guys played well, but the refs really hurt us at the end.

Can someone elaborate on Illinois throwing elbows and getting away with it? Everyone seems to talk about an elbow against Rob but nothing was called?

I didn’t get to watch, was at the park with the kiddos.

Not necessarily. Win one of the two at home should put us back in the conversation to get in.

What do you mean back in the conversation? Yes, IU has work to do at home next week, but losing a quad 1 road game by 1point doesn’t take IU from solidly in to out of the conversation.
