ESPN is the service that's been high on Pack. They have him at #86 while Rivals has him at #124 and 247 has him at #171. I tend to think that 247's own rankings are usually more accurate than the composite. They have Leal at 2 and Galloway at 3. Leal was #99 in the composite yesterday but dropped 30 spots because ESPN's updated rankings have Leal a 3-star and ranked 7th in the state.. Lol. ESPN rankings are just garbage.7 points

Jordan shot back up the 247sports composite rankings after the latest ESPN rankings. Jumped 53 spots from #131 to #78. The 2020 class also went up to #23 nationally and 3rd in the B1G.3 points

Wow. Mahomes Godfather too. No clue. Be careful Patrick....you might start throwing passes in the dirt routinely and costing your team a chance at playoffs. Kidding of course. Kind of.2 points

For some reason, whenever he got called into pitch for the Cubs, the "LaChoy makes Chinese food, swing American!" jingle went through my head...2 points

Some other tidbits: He won the Midwest Leagues's pitching Triple Crown in '93 He is Patrick Mahomes' godfather.2 points

Oh boy. Just looked it up. Wow. Didn't know he was from Gary. I know why I didn't know who he was. He's been permanently erased from my brain because of blown saves and constant booing from the fans at Wrigley. To his defense though.....Dusty had no business using him as a closer.2 points

Project Veritas is not a news organization. They have "targeted" my employer in my professional work several times before and it's never been fair, honest, balanced, etc. Not saying what they are reporting is true or false - I haven't done enough research. Just adding some first-world insight as to the organization in that link.1 point

Leal as the 7th best player in the state? Talk about zero credibility. Good God!1 point

Interesting that the composite has the top 5 recruits in the state listed as Jaden Ivey (75), D’Andre Davis (95), Nijel Pack (98), Leal (129), and Galloway (130)... I’m assuming Pack recently made a huge jump? These rankings obviously aren’t the be all end all, and are probably even less accurate than usual given the circumstances. Just weird to see Mr. Basketball not even ranked as a top 3 recruit in the state. Wonder how many times that has happened?1 point

It's just part of stupid fandom for me. LaTroy was the best setup guy going in baseball and Dusty tried to turn him into a closer. Wasn't really his fault...at the time Cubs fans were still dealing with Bartman and that fiasco. Every time anything happened there was booing. Hawkins just seemed to be the target more times than not.1 point

I remember hearing about who I think it was on a Cubs broadcast in the early 2000s. But I'll hold on and let some others take a whack at it. It is a good one...1 point

I've posted a few things showing crime is up in Chicago. 4000 people, including 64 murderers were released from IL jails- https://wrex.com/2020/04/28/almost-4000-inmates-released-from-il-prisons-64-charged-with-murder/ I'm pretty sure this does not include the county jails. I expect it to be a very bad summer for crime1 point

Speaking of pre-planning...i really wish I could remember the Exact details so bear with me... Fauci said that they are going to work on manufacturing vaccines before they are approved, hoping to have one ready to administer right away upon approval. Apparently manufacturing these can take months. Of course, this can backfire if the vaccines don’t work because they’ll be left with a lot of useless vaccines. But desperate times are calling for desperate measures.1 point

I'm at a stage in my social distancing that I'm actually confusing/intermingling the plotlines of the many shows I'm watching. Lately I've been confusing Narcos Mexico with Ozark 3 with Better Call Sal. Is my problem that i watch too much tv or that I have some weird fascination with Mexican drug cartels right now?1 point

This is very hard to comprehend for that town but something honestly that should have been done 30+ days ago. Yes it's an inconvenience....but pick the time (I'll say 3-5am) that has more than likely the least amount of traffic and clean. This is one of those greater good decisions. Speaking of oddities..McCormick Place in Chicago was (and still is) being used for a just in case type situation. News is getting out today....but the people on the ground ( I know 1 from work) say it's been a colossal waste of $....media reports are saying 84 state paid workers are taking care of 9 patients. 9.0 points
