Good article on Coach Woodson's basketball philosophies... The highlights... “Analytics is huge,” Woodson said on a recent call with reporters. “I used to use it for combinations of who played well together on my ball club, what combinations worked. A lot of time you base it on the minutes that a particular combination plays together or how well guys that come off the bench click together.” “I’m a big proponent of guys that compete on the defensive end,” Woodson said. “If you don’t, you won’t play… I know defense wins basketball games. I know defense will put you in position to win every game. It ain’t going to be just about our offense.” “When I look at young players, if you’re not willing to compete and play hard, your days in the NBA will be numbered because the next guy is more hungry,” Woodson said. “That’s going to be my biggest challenge going forward with this team because I think they got to play harder… It’s my job to make it happen.”12 points

From what i'm being told. Hunter started his crap with Woodson that he did with Archie and was shown the door. "Woodson's not hear to play locker room games, things will be dealt with quickly", quote.11 points

"I think they got to play harder" Love it. If everything thing coach is saying, materializes, we as fans are going to love this journey.8 points

With the importance of analytics becoming more and more evident, maybe there should be some analytics done regarding the posters on this board. Things like what time of day posters are most active. Who interacts most with who. Efficient/non-efficient use of emojis, like the coffee drinker. Posters giving out or receiving the most likes/ thanks/ or other feedback. Certain this would be valuable mod fodder. I nominate @IU Scottto head up this endeavor!6 points

Good luck to Jerome! I don't see this as a big loss, there is a reason we brought in a similar but better player in Kopp.6 points

We don’t need to know what the “crap “ was. Suffice it to say, if CMW was not pleased with whatever Hunter brought to the table… move on. Times a wasting. Gotta get the program back to where it belongs. Feel for the kid but if he was an obstacle, there’s other fish in the sea6 points

I just want to do everything that I can to protect Ayden. God gave him to us to protect and 11 years ago we were told he would only have 6 months to live if all went well We serve an amazing GOD and he decided differently and entrusted us to do what we feels is best for Ayden. I want some piece of mind and to stop worrying every time he gets a cough or runny nose or a bad headache. This vaccine might not give me those because we have been through so much but a little piece of mind would be much appreciated.5 points

Dumb reporter, "Hey Coach, how long does it take to build a culture?" Coach Woodson, "I am the culture."5 points

I recently watched and enjoyed this video about the difference between an 'average Joe' and an 'average' NBA player.4 points

FYI....for those people that were interested in the Indiana Wesleyan kid, Kyle Mangas. Per the Ft. Wayne Journal Gazette this morning, he has hired an agent and is looking to play professionally somewhere.4 points

I read that we recruited Thomas for the Bull position and Teegardin, who is in charge of that position, was one of the main recruiters for him. Peoples is listed as the recruiter for Durant and Strickland, so I am guessing the staff sees them as a different position than Thomas.3 points

Feb of 2019 (Thomas FR in HS) he ran a 4.96 40 and weighed 240. That's a crazy impressive number for someone that is 15.3 points

Ok, not going to put it out there because i cant verify a part of one thing i was told, no point. To your question, far, far less than the last staff.3 points

Well one thing Keion definitely does is play very very hard and is committed to his teammates and team. Kid might not be a lot of things but he was a leader for that team and when he played their intensity rose. He also went to bat and took post game interviews even when he was out injured. Kid can also guard 1-5 on the court in many situations that is how hard he plays and how athletic he is...so he has his positives.3 points

My Mother, who resides in assisted living, and I are both fully vaccinated (me Pfizer, she Moderna). Due to that, I’ll be able to fly to Indiana and see her for the first time since March of last year. Also, my wife and I are able to go out and be more social. It’s a relief for both of us. My wife will travel to see her family next month.3 points

My garden is almost complete. Planted 5 tomato plants yesterday. Just waiting on my tomatoes from seed to be ready to transplant. Probably have 7 or 8 tomato plants this year.3 points

My goals: If I, or someone I love, catches Covid, the symptoms are reduced. In Indiana alone, about 700 people in my age bracket (50-59) have died with Covid. I still have kids in high school that need their dad. I lost my dad my sophomore year in college. But, my younger brother was only 6 at the time. Then my brother died when his kids were 11 and 9. I've seen what early and unexpected death can do to kids. I don't want mine to go through that just because I was too stubborn to get a little shot. That vaccinations will help society open up faster For me, those two things alone make it worth the hour or so it took me to receive the vaccine.3 points

They are still talking to him. He told me that a couple weeks ago. But I don't get the sense that he is a top priority at this point.2 points

Brad Lohaus at Iowa was a douchebag like Jacob Jaacks, Knight gave both the same ball in the face treatment when they hugged the inbounder.2 points

There was one game last year, don't recall which but I think it was right after his coach assisted time out. He hit a couple shots, made a couple more hustle plays and then had a small, Sheehey type moment in an opponents face. I was so hoping that would be his coming out party, but it just didn't happen. I always had my fingers crossed for him. Good luck JH !2 points

I played against him all through junior high and high school (we were in the same class)...I could tell by 8th grade he was a special player. His house backed right up to the basketball courts at the Martinsville Park, so he always had a place to play, as it was lighted. I lived across town, but I made it up there as much as I could...always a lot of good competition... Those years were some golden years for Martinsville sports...in 75 and 76 we put 1 basketball player (Sichting at Purdue) and 2 football players (Dan Rhoden 75, and Mark Fishel 76 at IU) in the Big 10. Martinsville also had 4 coaches who are in the Indiana HOF in their respective sports during that time...Sam Alford (basketball), Bill Tutterow (baseball), Bill Siderwicz (football) and John Koontz (wrestling).2 points

I think this point is lost on most people. Fans will say this guy sucks, and he very may well suck at NBA level standards, but compared to the "regular humans" 99.99% of them would dominate, even the White Mamba...2 points

I think Hunter fell well short of his potential. Be it the health issues, not meshing with coaches, lack of "give a damn"....whatever, the biggest thing i think he takes with him that few showed last year was an edge. He never backed down or shyed away from anyone and hopefully there are a few guys that will let their inner "Sheehey" out on the floor this year. Best of luck to Hunter moving forward. I really rooted for the kid and he always looked like he was right on the edge of breaking out and just couldnt take that next step.2 points

It's getting hard to contain my excitement for what this program is turning into! We keep this up and retain Allen when the blue bloods start offering, and we could turn into a perennial top ten team. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but we have a great coaching staff, on-field results, and our recruiting has just been on overdrive. Gotta keep that momentum!2 points

I played against Jerry many times at the Martinsville Park...He was a very nice guy...Never played really hard against mediocre talent like me...If you were on his team, you'd better be ready because he'd bounce one off your noggin if you didn't keep your eyes open...2 points

I figured I'd jump on over here to show a little support and love for my White Sox. Who would have predicted they would have the best winning % in MLB at this point? Team ERA way better than at the same point in their World Series season of 2005. They have been on fire lately and are really been fun to watch. Yermin Mercedes has to be the feel good story of the year. They haven't missed a beat with their top 2 outfield sluggers (Jimenez and Roberts) out. Just swept the Royals and Twins and now have a 10 game lead on last years Central champs the Twins. Looking like a 2 team race in the AL Central with the Sox and Cleveland.2 points

And this is when I wished I paid attention to who posts what. I read. Agree/disagree and move along. This sounds like good info and I say thank you for sharing. Can't imagine a kid starting stuff with a new regime....but I also can't imagine 1300 players in the portal. Thanks for sharing!1 point
