  1. The funniest part is - in Indiana, her perception of which party is enacting these (necessary, correct) measures isn't even right!
  2. Did I miss something where it was reported we might have more roster movement?
  3. I think we have squeezed all the juice out of this particular line of discussion - let’s redirect back on to Woodson.
  4. I feel like some of the disagreement here about if the NBA or CBB is better isn't truly about which one is better/more popular (because that answer is abundantly clear), but is instead a thinly veiled argument about other things. That's a bit depressing. edit: better as in better level of talent, not necessarily a better viewing experience.
  5. I am curious how much of the downturn is vaccine complacency (e.g. I won't go out of my way to get it, but if you show up to my house I'll gladly take it) versus vaccine hesitancy (I am reluctant to get the vaccine for XYZ reasons). Don't get me wrong, it is clear from polling and media reporting that the latter exists, but I think a ton of the lack of demand is the former as well.
  6. The article mentions this, but the mass vaccination sites were likely always going to be about the first wave of willing, eager recipients. Now the grind starts - getting them into local doctor's offices (places of trusted care), local pharmacies, that sort of thing. Mobile clinics to go home-to-home for those who are willing but lack the time/resources to get somewhere. Now it's a block-by-block battle against time and variants.
  7. Now the hard part starts https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/04/21/vaccinations-downturn-jj-pause-soft-demand/
  8. I think it's fair to say very few of us expected CMW to hit the ground running quite like this. So impressive. A useful reminder that people (e.g. Dolson) get paid a LOT of money to figure this out and as shocking as it may sound, he might know a little more about basketball than we do.
  9. I think the vast majority of the complaints were if we hired an IU guy solely for that reason. Alford, for example. Woodson has legit credentials. Fair to have doubts about if we will succeed, but I think you can definitely point to other reasons than “IU alum” for his hiring.
  10. Hasn’t our recruiting generally been ticking up over the last 5 years?
  11. While it’s disappointing to see the pause, perhaps this is useful evidence to show to those who are hesitant - even at astronomically low rates of side effects, they are being taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. this isn’t a “rushed process” - this is careful oversight IMO.
  12. He went to IU, played hard, and decided he didn’t want to stay through a coaching change. Anyone who wishes him anything other than good luck needs to look in the mirror a bit IMO.
  13. That’s literally what contact tracing is..?
  14. Make sure to move your arm (a LOT) in the 1-4 hours after getting the shot. Helps a lot. It helps the cells/whatever the heck a vaccine actually is move around your entire body, not just cluster in your arm.
  15. Please use the report feature for offending posts. Don't quote it (further spreading the offending content), don't curse at them in response (which is also breaking rules), etc. Lots of threads are moving but a report (or a PM) draws our attention to the post most quickly.
  16. We'd like to build a bit of a reserve - once we feel like we have, we'll shut it off. Sincere appreciation to all thus far.
  17. You all are incredible. So appreciative to everyone to has chipped in.
  18. Woodson gets to prove his mettle so quickly with recruiting. It’s unlike any coaching change ever. Have to think it factored into Dolson’s two big decisions (to make a change/who to hire) and if he’s right, we will know... right now.
  19. Hello, loyal following! As you've noticed, we've had a little bit of downtime recently. It came on two of the most important days, too! The truth of the matter is that our site has grown substantially over the last 12 months. On a normal day, 90%+ of the traffic we receive is from unregistered members (hey, lurkers - register and get posting!) who want to see the new, exciting conversations happening. On a day where we have massive news, thousands of people will instantly flock to the site to catch up. Servers are by rule poorly set up for such immediate, massive traffic spikes. While I dabble as our server administrator, I am in truth poorly qualified for the task. Self-taught would be putting my skills kindly. To that end, we've invested into a retainer for a server administrator. Their firm helped get us back up both times and is now on call 24/7. We've also added to our server size. In the interests of full transparency: previously, our entire server costs were $30/mo, which I happily paid and just considered akin to a bar tab. Our monthly costs now run $200/mo. That's still relatively cheap for a site our size, but a bit of a bigger hit to my pocket book. Additionally, we paid a few hundred to get back up. Many of you have noted a willingness to chip in to help operating costs - as you can see on the sidebar, that functionality is now enabled. All costs will go towards operating expenses and any excess will sit in reserve for future server outages. If we build too big of a reserve, we'll shut off the donation function. Feel free to direct any particular questions to me via PM. Thanks to everyone for your support! HF
