Refs need to swallow the whistle a bit.

This team just plays dumb too much. Cupps shows his inexperience fouling on a 3. The Malik turnover with the shot clock off almost made me go for a walk

on the bright side, we showed flashes of knowing how to shoot from distance

Missing X is this game. Need a guy that breakdown the defensive. He is the only one with Galloway a little. Game really went bad when he went out with 2 fouls
I think you can simplify this game down to press / aggressive ball pressure and no XJ. None of this is good but forget about this game after it’s over. Flush it.

Going through the motions? Have you watched these tournament games? Couldn’t be further from the truth.

In a sport based on bravado, machismo, and confidence, it’s wild to me that people are second guessing a new coach at a program exuding… all of those traits?? What else is he supposed to do, say we’re going to get our butts kicked until his contract runs out? Jesus Christ, I’m not sure what else we want from a coach we’ve had for not much longer than “a moderate bender.”

MM at 6 and Gabe at 7 along TG last make these hard to take serious (no offense). We know MM struggles on D and Gabe / TG are much better (by no means perfect… had their struggles at times).
Still a small sample size and presumably TG gets a lot of tougher matchups

The portal was about leveling the field for the kids. If they can dip, so can the schools under a circumstance like this. I don’t like it but I also don’t like Sorsby transferring, but that’s just tough for all involved. It’s the new game.

This is a good article from The Atlantic regarding the NET:
https://theathletic.com/5096436/2023/12/01/net-ncaa-basketball-tournament-rankings-selection/?amp=1
The following is where I don’t think the IU athletic department and coaching staff have been strategic with their scheduling and the approach to games. It’s a fine line between developing a team early and posting big wins. I understand CMW’s philosophy, which has an NBA element, that a win is a win, but CBB is a different animal. I’ve argued in favor of scheduling winnable neutral court and road games that will be Quad 1 games. Nothing statistically is gained from playing a neutral court game against UConn or a home game against Kansas. A neutral court game against Missouri would be a better strategic option.
“The Mountain West, for example, changed its scheduling philosophy to avoid playing Quad 4 games and strengthen the league’s resumes so that once conference games began, all boats would be lifted. It worked brilliantly last season, as the conference got three at-large bids. Many coaches privately say that they instruct their teams to play hard until the end of blowouts, sometimes leaving starters in longer than necessary, to protect their efficiency numbers. Of course, there’s one formula that remains tried and true no matter what rankings system is in place: schedule hard and perform well.”
“You’ve got to win games, but you have to win the right games, too,” Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes says. “The metric has changed the whole thing over the last five years, and I’ve noticed it. You try to do the best that you can do.”
Emphasis mine. I get the nuanced NET argument you're making, but at the end of the day, I just don't agree with the line here.

With the fact that commitments never meant anything in football anyway, I was already reluctant to get invested in HS recruits. Add the portal? Hell, I'm reluctant to get invested in the PLAYERS! On the other hand, it does create excitement, the players deserve the flexibility, and it certainly helps a program like IU in the long run.

I'm sorry, implying that playing vs Kansas, wherever we play them, isn't a good enough game for this team is sheer lunacy.

What a weird hypothetical. Of course if a tall player was shorter, they’d be worse. It would also follow logic that they might be… more athletic. Edey looks comparatively stiff because he’s so big. It’s a feature, not a bug.

Feel like I’m harping, but what has happened to the crowd? Feels really subdued the past few years.
I mean, Friday games can cut in either direction.

It’s hard to imagine how you can mismanage a talent like Ware. Thanks Oregon.

Cuban gets to cash out while retaining control = win. He has big ambitions, political or otherwise. He has a lot of thoughts on AI and such and maybe he thinks he sees a winner and needs capital.
Adelsons = easy investment. These teams only go up. They just want the passive appreciation

My wife picked the brand but yep, it’s a midrange ~$500ish outdoor pizza oven. It’s like a table top.
We’ve found dough > all else. We use King 00 Flour (or something like that) which all of the internet raves about. It made a HUGE difference over any other dough we’ve used.

I don’t even care about football rosters for several more months. The fluidity of NIL and portal era just makes it hard to form any attachment. I’m not saying I’d change it, it’s just a cause and effect
