They’re pretty comparable in my opinion, at least at this point. I have no idea what Looney’s contract looks like but I’d imagine TJD (if everything goes as planned) could have a pretty big role on that team in a couple years.

I’m aware he’ll likely be playing the 4 and replacing Race in most cases, but I never said he was taking over TJD’s spot. I was simply mentioning Malik as a candidate to dump it off to to get a bucket when needed (similar to how we could dump it off to TJD to get a bucket).

I probably could’ve elaborated on my point about Malik a little more. Overall he’s not on the level of TJD yet but he’s shown a soft touch and proven to finish with finesse around the rim. I was pretty surprised last year how polished his moves were. I think he’ll surprise some people this year with how effective he’ll be around the rim.

That’s true… hopefully the increased versatility corresponds with playmaking development for someone (doesn’t necessarily matter who). We have X that can break down an offense arguably better than JHS although his mid range jumper may not be as good. I’d argue Malik’s post moves are just as good as TJD’s, which provides us a good option in the post to get buckets. And then you have MM which hopefully will provide us with playmaking ability in a wing that we haven’t had since Romeo.

Give me Galloway over Loyer everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Loyer may end up being a better player over the course of his career but for this season I’d take Galloway. As for Morton, I think he is incredibly average and I’m not sure I’d trade him for any of the guards or wings on our team currently. There’s a reason Brandon Newman was starting over him at the end of the season last year.

That may be easier said than done. Not sure what he provides us if he doesn’t want to fill the role we need.

I believe so… seems like Michigan is a little too stingy for their own good. Oh well, that can only help us.

Malik will be a stud for us this year whether he plays at the 4 or the 5. It appears he’ll mostly be playing as a 4 this year due to the makeup of the roster though.

Are we expected to get a game or not? I was also thinking last year was the final year but maybe it was because we got our guaranteed number of games in the challenge.

Oh don’t get me wrong I think he’s a great defender and the best perimeter defender we had once X went down. To your point tho, nobody could contain the ball in several games. That’s why I’d like us to get quicker across the board. Getting X back and having a more mobile 4 will help greatly with that. Also someone preferably quicker than Miller was, but he made up for that on other areas of defense (always being in the right spot, etc).

I think he’s pretty good for the most part on defense, but there were a couple games where we could not contain the dribble drive at all. Iowa comes to mind. Struggled with Miami too.

Well said. As of right now I don’t really know who will be the go to guy so to speak. Like you said, no single person is gonna replace TJD. It will be interesting to see who steps up and who might surprise us and fulfill a larger role than expected.
