3) Fire Cliff Marshall. I am tired of seeing before and after pictures of the players. He has been here 7 years and the shooting has been horrible including free throw shooting. We also have a lot of I juries during this time as well. Not blaming him solely but it is time for a change and try something different.
Let's fire Tim Garl too.. players aren't returning from these injuries caused by our strength and conditioning program fast enough 🙄

This feels like as good a place to post this as any.
Free throws...
I've always felt the players should shoulder the majority of responsibility here. Outside of the staff providing some coaching around form and calling out guys to get their @$$ in the gym and work on it outside of practice, what else should be expected from a coaching staff?

I wouldn't care if he was from India or Indiana at this point. Just as long as they care and could hit freaking free throws

Who's going to be the defensive coordinator? lol
I go back and fourth on which end of the floor is worse. We don't switch and leave 3 point shooters open, we don't box out on rebounds, and in the last 3 years we have committed more fouls than any other team in the B1G.
I go back and forth on if the defensive problems are more schematic or personnel. I'm sure it's a bit of both but our current roster has no one who can guard the ball and disrupt the opponent's offense at the point of attack. Everything breaks down after that - forced into bad or no switches, over helping to counter penetration into the lane, out of position to recover on a shooter etc.

Watching FAU reminds me a bit of Crean’s teams. They can shoot and when the offense is clicking, it’s a thing of beauty. Defense, however, looks like something they have to do for awhile until they get the ball back. A bit like Iowa.
So all we need to do is create an offensive coordinator position and convince May and Woodson.

That’s interesting…but if the meeting is in a room that holds say 15 people and there are 12 board members how exactly is the public to attend? Not saying that is how it’s done but just wondering if these are really “public” or not.

IF it comes to that.
Both.
I think the point that others are making is that they don't THINK that this program has a path forward to success if the SYSTEM does not change. I think it's more than fair to say: "Yes, we had some success last year, but I don't like our overall system and do not believe it's conducive to winning in the future." or "We had a good amount of talent and veteran leadership to disguise the same issues that plagued us in year 1, year 2, and now are on full display."
Nobody can see the future. Everything is opinions. You don't need to be the martyr against pessimism....it's okay to debate an opinion without calling people's views 'absurd'. I get that you do not agree with the above sentiments and you do think Woody can turn it around. You may be right in the end. I HOPE you are right in the end.
I think he should get one more year too, but I want to see MAJOR changes (which I have posted about ad nauseam) . I also respect the opinions of those who don't think he deserves another year.
Good post. For me, debating opinions (in this case the optimists vs the pessimists) is healthy and entertaining. As long as those opinions are about relevant topics (the system, player development, recruiting, line-ups, why Purdue sucks). When the opinions shifts to the irrelevant things (he's not animated enough, he says "hump" too much, why is the assistant AD on the bench, etc) that's when the debate drifts into the "absurd" for me.

I'm legitimately curious why some think a coach at a P6 school not in the BigTen would see OSU as a step up? Money aside that is.
Just looking at which conferences have had national championships in the last 20 years... that's a BigZero for the BigTen. Not to mention the overall poor performance of the conference in the tournament for many years now and the "Tackle Basketball" that the conference allows.
Sure, maybe a coach at some perpetual bottom dweller team in one of those conferences but I don't see why someone like Oats or Miller would see that job as a step up from where they currently are.

Idk where this fits--- but the only thing I would say to a fan is---- enjoy the Ws/good seasons (2012, 13, 16, last season) a little more than we seem to do. I'll be honest-- the biggest memory I have of the 2013 team is people bitching about ---- anything they could about that team. Maybe I am remembering wrong, or an exaggerated memory, I guess... but there were A LOT of people who couldn't see past their imperfections to simply just enjoy a team that spent the entire season T5.
Sorry-- but I saw no reason the "story" of that season needed to be the Syracuse loss. Idk. Winning is hard.
My biggest/best memory from that season was the final seconds of the Michigan game (especially the replay of the ball with the Michigan logo slowly falling off the rim).

Yes, he brings nothing to the program. I assume if they would get rid of Woodson most of not all assistants would be gone as well.
Fair enough. Sorry for assuming you were talking about Woodson.
I don't know the responsibilities of the assistant AD but perhaps Dolson gave you the lowdown in one of your Scott to Scott emails that lead you to the conclusion that he does nothing.

I am watching the Pacers right now and they have 4 assistants and 6 or 7 other associates. The associates sit a row behind the bench and the actual assistants sit in the bench.
The NBA doesn't translate to college basketball though

That wasn't fair but I would hope we move in from him this off season. We need to bring in more dynamic personalities into the locker room that can relate to these players.
All other things aside, what ever gives you any suggestion that Woodson doesn't relate to players? Good grief. If there is one thing overwhelming clear is that he relates to players and they love him.
This "more dynamic" crap drives me nuts. I don't want another RMK screaming and loosing his $&#@ on players, refs, and chairs all the time. I just don't, sorry

Purdue has a ton to sell right now and has for years. Solid program, solid coach, solid NIL, solid resources, etc… Not sure how that’s hard to admit.

But a rebuild at IU is completely different than at FAU, and a bad year at IU is very different than a bad year at FAU.
100% agree. IU has way better facilities, NIL, name recognition, etc. but this job comes with much higher expectations and pressure as well. So hypothetically, what would be an acceptable first 4 years if Woodson is replaced by May and there is a mass exodus of current players and McNeely opts out?

I think you’re comparing apples to oranges. Florida Atlantic and Indiana are not comparable in any way. FAU was basically nothing when May took over.
3 minutes ago, Kdug said:You’re omitting some major details. FAU’s record the 4 years before May:
14-15: 7-20
15-16: 7-24
16-17: 10-20
17-18: 12-19
Even May’s first 4 years were some of the better FAU seasons since they’ve been a D1 team.
So no IU fans would not be happy with those first 4 year results, but the situation at IU and the situation at FAU are not remotely comparable.
Again, I'm not trying to make an argument one way or the other. Nor am I arguing that Woodson should stay or go. Just wanting some discussion.
Some have framed this current IU season as the "worst in program history" (excluding the first 3 Crean years). Some have said the program is in a terrible state and spiraling in the wrong direction. With that, if a coaching change is made we will be (once again) in rebuild mode. So I feel there is valid comparison here.

15-18 wins is just not good enough for Indiana. not making the tourney is not good enough. and then the question - what gives us hope that next season will be better?
We all want to return to "the glory days". But those were 20 years ago. In the 13 years before Woodson we went to 4 tournaments. FOUR. He takes the teams to the tournament in both his first two seasons. Could we have used guard help this season? Yes. Did we not get it because Woodson is stupid or lazy? I don't think so. Like @IUFLA said earlier, I think his mistake was loyalty to the current players (X, Galloway and Gunn) in that he probably wouldn't guarantee starting roles to potential transfer guards.
P.S. Seems we are all telling our age to qualify our posts. I'm 50

It's more than just points lost/not scored. It's runs we stop, added pressure on the opponent, etc.
It's a big glaring $h!tty stat and absolutely frustrating
