One thing Durr is doing is giving Davis a big body to develop his game against. I believe he's still going to have moments of impact for us bit it will have to be defensively and on the boards. I think his offense at his age may be maxed out. We will absolutely have to get a quality portal big though.
I think we'll have road games this year that we get torched but still, I'm sticking to a top 5 finish. I think Geronimo is the key. I think he should start and bring Kopp off the bench with Bates and Rob for a short rotation.

Who do we cover Kinsey with? I figured XJ draws Taylor, so that leaves Stewart on Kinsey...
Miller gets George
Race draws Beyers
Trayce gets Miladinovic...
I'd like to see
Geronimo on Kinsey
Bates on Taylor
Bring Stewart and Kopp off the bench and see who responds.

Looking at the numbers, if you lock that point guard up, and force Kinsey to become the primary initiator of the offense, the wheels should fall of their offense pretty quickly. With our depth at the point we should be able to smother him.

I've heard some
"Kraft with a jumper" comparisons.

If Kirk Haston had come back for his senior year....no doubt that team might have won it all. It had all the right elements...certainly not the most talent but the right mix!
Jeffries playing a lot of point forward on that team was always something I pondered about.

Let's see what Durr looks like.
I still think Kopp off the bench and Geronimo in the first unit is worth considering.

Many reasons I'm not a talent scout lol
However, this young man's video is hard to watch.
-
I think he's someone to be excited about. He's definitely under the radar. If I'm not mistaken Fife is on this one.

His recruitment started under Archie if I'm not mistaken
If you look at the the three guards that have signed under the new staff there's a difference in physicality. Take Lander and this young man and then look at Bates, Schifino and Newton. I think we'll trend towards 6'4"+ 200lb guards with the length to guard 3 positions, rebound and bang in the paint.
IU's had a lot of great small guards that don't fit this description but I think that it would have to be a pretty special guy to catch the current staffs attention if they are of the Lander mold.

A concern that I have is the angle of self-promotion by young players. The distraction that could come from a player trying to earn more through NIL by means other than actions leading to wins.
-
A lot can happen in 4 years. Believe me
Its always interesting to see how a player develops when it comes so easy to them early. Especially when it is largely due to the physical superiority that this young man has.
We never know the inside story. Is he a good kid? Is he a hard worker? Do the older players like playing with him?
It will be interesting to watch.

I think we'll always have an eye on the portal for quality big men.

2 things will really br interesting to see.
The rotation and how that may shape who returns.
How much of talent in the post is Duncomb.
I honestly think Banks will be a stud at the 3 and his minutes there versus the 4 hinge heavily on the 4 years of Duncomb.
It looks like a 4 man class for next year which raises questions about TJD and who are the other 3? Johnson is the most likely, if we are successful, to get into the league with Davis, but then its anyone's guess. Stewart is an interesting guy possibly in that conversation.
The extra year really makes things interesting.

We are going to have some very physical guards.
6'3"-6'5" 200lbs+......
I'm not a huge fan of 3 guard line-ups but a 6'4" 200 lb athlete with a 6'10" reach is a different story.

Impressive young man. I think he can immediately impact the defensive end.
At his age I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up a year at one of the basketball factories in Florida. Which can only help.

Latrell Sprewell game.

With Freeman off the board I'd like to get after Bruiser Parks and get a verbal.
-
Well it's the difference of one day or Monday v. Sunday.
So he'll be able to have a press conference at his school on that Monday. I don't think it means anything.
-
That's a bummer.
It'll be nice to see how he develops. Wonder where we're at with Parks?...... This could also mean that we've gotten further entrenched with Montverde and IMG.

Yes, he’s been compared by some to be similar to Aaron Craft with a jump shot. Not to mention he’s taller than Hulls by at least 3 inches.
Dude that was the exact combo I was hoping to hear. I'd take Craft at point anytime. Add a reliable jumper.....I'm sold.

I'm eager to track Danes percentage on guys he gets in on early here. He was a top 10 recruiter at msu almost immediately. He got Freeman over 24hrs after 1st contact. 2023 will be the year of Fife.

During the pandemic I rewatched all of the tournament games from 81. I know you need some bench but RMK did not sub at all until someone got 3 fouls during the tournament.
I remember J Thomas was on the All Final 4 team and the next year lead the team in rebounding. Could you imagine Kitchel in today's game......he was better than Evans and look what he did with all that time with the 3. Of course Alford would've scored 2500 points with that rational.

This season (wins) will propel us in recruiting. CMW has done an awesome job so far without coaching a college game yet. His NBA pedigree will be so so attractive to high school recruits as well as portal players. Wait til we see TJD and Race shooting improvements. Rob being confident..Tamar coming here out of nowhere. Geronimo being an OG replica. Just wait. Loving football but ready for #iubb season
TJD needs to mimic Julius Randall and Geronimo needs to be an elite defender and Phinese as Chris Reynolds and we could be very dangerous. Very

Took 2.5 years for Turner to figure everything out. Once he did he just took off and without him there would be no banner for 1981
I wonder if RMK would've tried to play Blab with him or moved Landon back in at the 5. He really evolved at the 4 next to Tolbert.
It would've allowed Randy to stay at the 2. I think
PG J. Thomas, 2G Witman, SF Kitchel, PF Turner, C Bouchie,,,,would've been their best shot at repeating.
The bench would've been lean though. Guys like Risley and Isenberger with Jim Thomas was a heck of a bench.

This is an important game.
I feel like this could be an ugly loss.
