  1. Archie seemed to target high quality guys, just didn't get far with most (Bouknight, Mann, Ramsey, etc.) and didn't close with hardly any (Garcia, Watford, Garland, etc.). With Woodson, definitely seems like we have a better chance with these level of guys.
  2. Rivals showing "blank" five stars for all recruits and filling them in with gold for their actual star rating threw me for a loop there. I was wondering how could a kid be an unranked 5*.
  3. Wow what a dbag. I thought that quote sounded like it was from The Onion, but no. In case anyone wants to see/hear it for themselves...
  4. Funny I never heard them say, Trayce Jason-Davis
  5. No I don't, but not surprised. Those video makers are always doing that to get people's attention. When watching that Fears video I was like how can you even rank/project a kid that young.
  6. I felt the same way, but also thought he's likely to take unofficial visits to places close enough to do so and use his officials at places far(ther) away like UNC and Stanford. Polar opposites on those visits - academically (high prestige vs. academic fraud) basketball (blue blood vs. non-historic) geographical (east coast vs. west coast)
  7. Seems like this guy's thread should be getting more attention. Top 30 (decommit from Pitt - wonder if there is any XJ connection there?) - https://247sports.com/Player/Jalen-Hood-Schifino-46086137/ Seems pretty high on us according to this TDH article - https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-roundup-tidbits-on-several-2022-targets-emerge-from-weekend-national-reports/
  8. We have 12 games against teams ranked worse (home IL, RU - home & away MN, NE, PSU, WI - away IA, NU) and 8 games against team ranked better (home MI, home & away MD, OSU, PU - away MSU) than us on this projected ranking site. https://www.barttorvik.com/?conlimit=B10&state=All&year=2022&sort= So I would think 12-8 should be the floor for next season if win/lose those games regardless of home/away. I would think we should have a good shot against MD, OSU, and PU at home, so 15-5 or 14-6 seems doable. 14-3/16-4 was good enough to win the conference this year, so we should be in contention for the 1st time what seems like forever. Now I have to try to maintain composure and not get excited or have too high of expectations with a new coach...
  9. If half went to taxes he needed a new agent and/or CPA. I'm one and never had a client pay 50% effective tax rate and there a probably hundreds of thousands of CPAs who know more than me
  10. $2.75 million signing bonus to play a game he loves. I think he made the right call. He can still go to college now, he's only 26.
  11. He did make $5.2 million in his short time in the NBA. Guess he squandered it already? https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/swanica01.html#all_all_salaries
  12. You guys may be right and I may be wrong. Mike Davis never got another Power5 job. Guess we'll see. Found it interesting the Mike Davis is 60 only 3 years younger than Coach Woody.
  13. I get it, but I think as fans we (myself included) wouldn't hire him after seeing him closely for these past four years, but it just takes one AD to think, man this guy was so highly regarded as a up and coming young coach, he's still young, and for whatever reasons it didn't work out at IU for him, but I'll take my chances with him over these other guys. Other ADs may look at from the opposite perspective of your point, he didn't succeed at IU b/c their expectation are so high, he got dealt a bad hand with injuries/COVID, whatever (many of the same excuses the collective we made around here). Look at BC's most recent coach Jim Christian, for example. Got a Power 5 job at TCU after Kent St. Was mediocre to good for them, but still ended up at Ohio (odd that he took that job as an upgrade to Power5 TCU?), then ended up at BC (another Power 5). EDIT: Looks like TCU wasn't Power5 at the time he was there. Archie is too young to not get another Power 5 job if he stays in the business IMO. What are there 70 of them?
  14. He can get back to power five again if he chooses to. His 4 years were real bad to us, but would be fine for many of the bottom-half power five teams. You really think that no school from the likes of TCU, Kansas St, Iowa St, half of the Pac12, half of SEC, NC St, Pitt, Wake Forest, and BC would take a flier on the former Flyer/Hoosier coach? Remember it only takes one. Look at someone like Jeff Capel's career. Coaches get recycled all the time. His IU teams ranked between 34-71 which clearly wasn't good enough for us, but many of the schools listed would be ecstatic with those results.
  15. He's getting paid the same whether he works or not, so my guess is he's taking some time off after living the grind of being a coach (asst. or head) for nearly 20years. That's a lot of years of long hours and given the disappointment of his IU tenure, he's probably enjoying the freedom and spending time with his family to try and catch up a bit on missed moments while coaching.
  16. My guess would be Shoulders.... ...but I could see it being Buckner if he was trying to pave the way for Woodson.
  17. If you would be so kind as to give an update on Hooks when you get a chance? Doesn't look like previous staff offered, wonder if new staff is interested. Hope so. 247 profile. They have him ranked 55th, but he's not on their composite which only goes to 36th at this time. https://247sports.com/Player/Jalen-Hooks-46104056/
  18. Any word on if the new staff is still in on this guy? https://247sports.com/player/taylor-bowen-46102044/
  19. I think the reason the insiders "missed" is b/c they got their info from someone connected to the program (IU side) and the previous staff felt confident about landing guys that didn't eventually commit here. The insiders don't have connections to the specific recruit in most cases, so its unreliable much of the time unless the recruit has basically gave a verbal commit before a public announcement. As for the BS situation, I think that the information insiders got was good, but once again it was from the IU side. IU met all of BS's demands and he still said no. After Woodson was hired, he mentioned/thanked Dolan for letting him out of his contract. Since that was the case for him, I'd imagine the same would apply to BS, so it is possible (still unlikely) that BS wanted to leave (reports/rumors of him trying to resign and telling the team he was leaving) but couldn't get his release from the Celtics. Whatever the case, I'm actually glad we got Woodson instead, and with success we can promote Fife or maybe this new GA is the next BS 2.0. Inevitably when BS gets fired, he can come home to coach the Pacers. Win win.
  20. Don't mean to pile on, but videos like this show me even more reason why Archie needed to go.
  21. I can't help but think of this when I hear Durr's name...
