  1. One of my bosses shared this story with me a few days ago: He lived in the dorm across the hall from Woody. When he was at home and mentioned it at a gathering, a kid heard and asked if he thought Woody would sign something for him. My boss got a basketball from the kid for Woody to sign. When he asked Woody to sign it, Woody said do you want me to take it to practice and have everyone sign it? Woody did so that kid got a ball signed by the entire 77 or 78 team. I asked my boss if he was tempted to keep it!
  2. Good point and I didn't witness it 1st hand either. My guess would be that someone like CC had more integrity than the people who would accept the benefits (not judging those who do b/c I don't think it is an ethical issue to accept a loaner car, just a NCAA rules violation) and/or he didn't want to jeopardize his eligibility or risk hurting his team for that. I think of it like this: I drank underage at IU and don't think that makes me a bad person but I was breaking the law/rules, but if I was on scholarship/playing for IUBB I don't think I would have.
  3. I can only imagine the things that went on even when Knight was coach that the "right way" crowd would be floored by. I worked detailing cars for a short time at a dealership in Bloomington (mid-late 90s when Knight was still coach). It didn't happen when I was there (summer), but was told by more than one person who worked there a long time that the "car is in the shop for repairs" game was played there. For those that don't know what that is, basically a player takes his car (any car) to the dealer for "repairs" and is given a loaner to drive while the (non-existent) work is being done. The "repairs" take all semester to get done for some reason...
  4. He got caught and cleared of something shady. He didnt get retained by new Bama coach. He hasn't gotten an assistant job since. Basically he has done his time for the crime. I have no problem with IU hiring him, but they better (and I think CMW will) let him know what is allowed and not allowed at IU.
  5. This got me wondering who were CMW's assistant coaches when he was HC in the NBA: Atlanta Hawks: Greg Ballard Bob Bender Herb Brown Larry Drew David Fizdale Alton Lister Tyrone Hill Jim Todd New York Knicks: Herb Williams Darrell Walker
  6. Thank you. And to add, no need to figure out starting 5's either. Hopefully, Woodson is going to change them throughout the season based on who's earned it and/or matchups.
  7. What makes you think he'll decide early? 7 of the top 20 in 2021 haven't decided or decided after the season started. I think this number only goes up for 2022 and beyond due to COVID limitations and transfer rule changes. Also of note from a TDH interview awhile back: TDH: What factors are important to you as you start to think more about choosing a college and playing at the next level? Washington: How I as a player fit into their system, what type of playing style that team has, how they will help me with my skill development, getting stronger, the environment and social life, academics is definitely huge in terms of how they support my major and help me prepare for the future. (Note: Washington indicated that he plans to major in business and administration.) If he's considering IU, he will want to wait to see CMW's playing style, his fit in the IU's system, player development (TJD especially IMO, but all will be looked at), official visit during "non-COVID" to assess enviroment and social life, visit Kelley and check out the B&A program (other options). If he's not considering IU and has checked all those boxes at other schools, then he obviously doesn't need to wait (as much/long). https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-class-of-2022-in-state-5-star-jalen-washington-on-rehab-recruiting-and-upcoming-season/
  8. Agreed. Fill out your roster. Play who deserves it. If kids aren't happy about their playing time, they either work to get better and earn more, or the transfer out. Archie had plenty of xfers out even with the open spots. Big mistake on his part IMO. Contributed to his downfall, when injuries hit he didn't have depth. If players needed to ride the bench for whatever reason, he didn't have depth. Contributed to his dismissal.
  9. Especially since they aren't similar. They're both 6-9 210-230lbs PFs, ranked 20-30, McD AA (and likely one). When I watch Washington highlights I'm reminded of Anthony Davis in his movements, blocked shots, and outside shot/form. Not saying he's the #1 HS recruit or future #1 pick, but that's what I see/feel. TJD has been used specifically in the post and CMW has stated he's going to change that and make TJD more NBA ready. If he's successful in expanding TJDs game and makes TJD a lottery pick that would certainly make JW more likely to come here. You guys likely got TK bc of the way fCAM handled TJD. We could get JW bc of the CMW handles TJD.
  10. Plenty rides on what Woodson does with TJD this year. Certainly helps that Fife was lead recruiter on him for MSU and can just stay as such with IU now.
  11. He would fit the profile of shooter that CMW is looking for, but wouldn't fit the switch on D so much at his height. Career .411 3P% on 246 attempts. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jalen-cone-1.html
  12. Interesting read. Seems a bit petty at times, but the part about not adjusting to remove the double teams of Howard is a bit concerning. Hopefully (and I would think) CMW has learned from that and is more open to input and adjustments.
  13. @rico maybe you can edit your original post to include this link? shows everyone in the portal (i think) https://247sports.com/Season/2021-Basketball/TransferPortal/
  14. True. Maybe the most bad@$$ goal tend in history. Don't think I remember seeing that one before.
