Halftime up 1-0!

I don't think he would come here due to his loyalty to Allen
Nah. You keep saying that. But if he enjoyed his time here and his run as DC and wants his shot to be HC at a Big Ten school he’d come. Loyalty doesn’t run that deep.

Ugh. I try to forget those.

This is the route I'd prefer, but.. is it a stepping stone? Should we care if it is?
Lots of layers here
For sure. Part of me doesn’t care if it’s a stepping stone. If a guy like that can bring success here and he goes somewhere better then maybe we are in a better spot to hire a bigger name next time around. We once were in a spot to hire Urban Meyer. We said no. Utah hired him. Look how that turned out.

Any thoughts on Jake Dickert the Washington State coach? He’s originally from the midwest and with WSU no longer in a power 5 conference could he look to move like the Oregon State coach?

No McCulley, Cooper, Sorsby, Lucas in the portal 🙏🙏
I’ve been told McCulley wants to stay but that he also wants an NIL deal. I’d say he has earned it.

He's a little bit messy...the Baylor deal was maybe not all on him, but he was a part of it...
I agree. But he’s a darn good coach. He is also just an example…a guy who is looking at a shot to get back in.

Weaver just said there is some chatter around Paul Chryst at the moment
That one sounds like a DiNardo type of hire to me. Wisconsin was on a downturn under him IMO.

There would be a lot of "career suicide" talk with both a proven head coach and an upcoming assistant...
And as I said in the other thread, who are people like Mark Cuban, Cindy Simon-Skjodt, or any big donor going to buy off on? All about the NIL...
And that’s why I wonder if a guy like Art Briles could be interested. A chance to get back in. Actually, a last chance to get back in. He’s old enough that career suicide isn’t an issue.

So just my own two cents here. Some complain that IU won’t spend money for football. After two great years IU gave a really nice extension to Tom Allen investing in the program. Yes the buyout might have been a bit much but there was an investment there. Now they don’t let let a huge buyout prevent them from moving forward. We will see what comes next but at least right now this does not seem to be IU administration of old when it comes to money and football.

Nope, just double checked. He was the QB coach of the Redskins before taking the IU job. Before that he was a QB and QB/WR coach at Michigan.
You are correct. Thanks.

I loved ARE as a player, but that scares me. He’s never even been a coordinator. I’m pretty sure this is the same scenario as Cam Cameron, NFL experience as a coach but nothing above a position coach
Cam was a pretty proven OC by that point.

Dolson going the same route he did with Woody... Indiana guy, Alum, all time Hoosier great, pro career both as a player and coach...
Might work out...
But Woody had HC experience. ARE hasn’t been a HC or OC. If true this sounds incredibly risky.

Alabama had a fourth and goal from the 31 and scored a touchdown to take the lead w 32 seconds left. Way to go Auburn. 🤦♂️

I heard that too. Outside of McCulley and Lucas, I'm not sure which IU players would fetch a hefty amount on the open NIL market. I wouldn't mind getting a whole new staff and 50 new players on the roster via via portal and recruiting ala Colorado.
I was told those two and Sorsby have already been offered NIL money by other programs.

Sounds like he hasn’t been told anything one way or the other by that statement.
He probably hasn’t yet. Have to think we will know no later than Monday. Right???

This hire is absolutely massive with the era of college football that IU is about to enter with the expansion of the conference and NIL. I think IU has to hire a proven guy to see immediate results.
I don’t disagree. But the title is potential HC Candidates. I’d prefer a proven guy too but if we go an HC or DC route that should still be part of the conversation.

I know most want a proven guy. But if we do make a change and don’t go with a proven guy I wonder if a guy like Brian Hartline would give us a look?

I think going into the season we had pretty similar talent but I think the injury bug was kinder to you guys. Both teams were pretty meh talent wise by year’s end IMO.
Get out. Show back up tomorrow. Don’t argue this crap today.

No where to go on that one. If we are talking about the same play.

Even the announcers are questioning the lack of aggression on 3rd and 4. Let's see if it comes back to bite us in the ass yet again.
Henderson missed the crease and bounced it right to the tackler. Maybe he doesn’t get the first down anyway but there was a crease there. Also, I’m not making an argument that the call was ok. Not at all. Just saying the execution wasn’t good. Which still tells me something.
