How does he compare to Cupps? Admittedly I've only seen highlight tapes of him against lower level Kentucky competition so I take that with some grain of salt, but it takes a special type of talent to be an in-state kid recruited by UK. Appears to be a better scorer than Cupps (again competition plays a factor) but doesn't look to have the handles or athleticism that Cupps has. Are Cupps and Perry capable of playing on the floor together without having to worry about defensive issues? Would be my biggest concern.

I love both of them.  My concern came from watching Purdue this year.  I think both of their guards are solid, but when you're playing so small (and young) at both guard positions, you're going to find teams that exploit that.  We exploited Purdue and so did many others as the year went further along.  I'm hesitant that both would work together, but I absolutely see a scenario where one starts and the other is coming off the bench to get their minutes at some point in their career.

  2. Hey man I totally get it. Bucket game or a weekend iu/pu basketball game would have to be a special occasion though! We need to find a few of us that would be able to scoot away for a few hours and make an evening out of it. I miss being able to watch a game without having to explain what the hell is going on lol

  3. Chaos, by Tom O'Neill or The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross by John M. Allegro.

Chaos is about how the Manson Family was supplied with LSD via a secret CIA operation in San Francisco, then subsequently the same CIA official in charge of that operation was also the man who was tasked with evaluating Jack Ruby after killing Lee Harvey Oswald. It intertwines 3 great conspiracies and shows the corruption of the government in pushing their narratives on several defining points in American History.

The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross is about the use of mushrooms in ancient times and how those mushrooms have a deep, deep connection to the Bible and many stories that are told in the Bible.  This is a very intensive read.

  4. Hey guys,

I'm newer here on the board, but I have seen that there are others who live in SWFL.  I currently live in Naples, FL, and I'm trying to get a group of Hoosier fans together for football/basketball watch parties at some point next fall/winter.  I was just wondering if anyone else on the board would be interested in getting some guys together.

Oh man. I was visiting my parents down there last month. You have people in fast cars whipping in and out of traffic on the same road with old people who have no idea what’s going on. Haha.

I saw a car flipped over right downtown Naples on 5th ave. How is a person going so fast that they flip their car over in that area?

Such a bizarre but beautiful area.

You’re basically playing Russian roulette on the roadways down here. Old man in a Ferrari has no issues taking a bicyclist out or a family of 4 in a minivan.

If so, then it is Tenn for the win.

Rick Barnes be damned.  I'm still hopeful Woody has some magic left after Ware.  I drove across the bridge down here in Naples on the way to work today, didn't once think about jumping.  I think we will be fine.

  7. Oh, i was just seeing it was made on 4/20 from the peegs.com guy for a SG to oregon.  I know Knecht was CB'd to oregon last week, but the development of that new CB made me think something else may be going on behind the scenes with Knecht.  Maybe just me being hopeful and looking too much into it.  I know Knecht isn't a SG, but he's playing a similar style to me it seems like.

I think this shows how poorly some of these recruiting services rank guys. Jamar Johnson, Micah McFadden.. go check their HS rankings. Day 1 studs at Indiana. Feeney, Spriggs.. same thing. Tevin Coleman. Kofi Hughes.

i'd completely agree with that.  he does find some of guys that fly under the radar.  But, in general, consistently highly ranked recruits are the ones who develop into the playmakers in college.  transfer portal has to be IU's best friend moving forward.

Kind of sad to look at some of the top recruits in IU football history and see how many didn't live up to their rankings

I was literally looking at the same thing earlier in the day and now I believe, if I’m correct, 4/10 of our highest ranked players were on the team and transferred away within the last 2 years. That’s not a great trend. I value Tom Allen’s recruiting ability since he arrived here, given our previous classes, but we just get so few it’s a hard pill to swallow.

  10. serious question, and I could probably find the answer somewhere, but I'd rather get intel from the board.  When do the dominos stop falling?  does the portal have a close date?  I know there are NBA draft deadlines and deadlines to get your name out of the draft, but when could we reasonably expect our roster to be complete?

.....was never a ND fan, but along the same lines,.....I loved everything on channel 4, starting with The Bob Knight Show, Janie and Friends, Cowboy Bob, Sammy Terry, and even wrestling with Dick the Bruiser! Now that really shows my age! lol

I caught the tail end of the channel 4 era.  Still have the lingering visions of luke recker (meh), michael lewis, a.j. guyton, and andre patterson.  I also still have the channel 4 visions of a 1/6 full memorial stadium and IU being down 40 to any and all big ten team.  It was the best of times and the worst of times.

Now, someone tell woody to get on the phone with matthew cleveland!

So my dads family is 20 minutes from Bloomington but when my dad was like 8-9 my grandpa moved the family to Brazil Indiana so he could open up a KFC and my dad was starting to play football and become good at it so he watched it a lot and up there it was nothing but Notre Dake football so because of him I am Indiana Basketball Notre Dame football but my heart is all in on Indiana basketball. I’m not even on any Notre Dame football boards

Same.  Could always count on ND being on TV on Saturday afternoon, growing up as a young kid (and obviously now).  Dad was an ND football fan because that's all he could watch as a kid and that's how I was brought up.  Indiana basketball, however, I live and die by.  I'm also an alum, so trying to explain how I like ND football (and IU too) and IU basketball to my wife has been, well, difficult.

So if knecht is a no go, what guards look like the most likely backup plan?

I think you go directly to matthew cleveland.  FSU wing that just entered the portal.  give him everything you were going to give to knecht, add 20%.  I honestly believe that Woodson isn't messing around, at all.  he came to indiana to win national championships, as he stated at his presser.  He's going to go get the best guys he can possibly get, swing and miss on a few, but he's going after exactly what he needs to win championships.  get dudes, win championships.

any chances that Kenya uses his east coast connections to land Mackenzie Mgbako?  Filipowski just announced he's coming back for a 2nd season.  Maybe this kid is the answer at the 4.  From 247:

His shot-making from behind the arc is his best asset. He can also make the types of shots that translate to the next level - pick-and-pop threes, slipping out of ball screens to make shots on the move, or creating space with a series of side-step or step-back shots.

Most assume he will back off his pledge with the announcement from filipowski
