  1. I had no idea, i didn't realize he had transfered twice. Do we know why he left pit for UT Martin?
  2. Parker Stewart played for Pitt? I honestly thought he transferred from some Mid Major.
  3. We need more than just a 4 who can shoot. We need several players at all positions who can put the ball through the baskets. As mentioned many many time under the CAM tenure, he can't shoot the ball for them. And they had allot of open and point blank looks that didn't go in, for 4 years. So we need some upgraded shooters or a huge leap in our current rosters shooting percentage
  4. Am I missing something in the tweet, did he mention CAM being let go?
  5. I just think it was the lazy "Hire and IU Guy" choice being pushed by a powerful group behind the scenes. It was also the cheap way out (although 3.5 mil still isn't cheap). I doubt we ever really considered anyone or talked to any big name head coaches including Brad Stevens. This was plan A the whole time. Will it work out, We will see. I am not negative about the hire or the program because its what I expected them to do. So far some good solid assistant coaches have been good. Matta to help out can't hurt. Getting some of our players to recommit kind of feels like when CAM started though having to re-recruit players, so well see. We'll see how he does in the transfer portal and recruiting trail to see how he fill the gaping holes in our roster. Win big and no one will care. But if he struggles you're going to see allot of fans vocal and won't stand for the he needs 5 years talk. Most of the fans wanted a Whale of a hire. They wanted a big name and didn't care about salary numbers. God i hope he wins big and is the next generational coach at IU, i really do.
  6. You play the best 5 you can and if the others can't contribute or don't like their minutes, its the coaches job to either appease them as best he can or help them move on. Kids need to earn playing time.
  7. Again i don't disagree. But we haven't seen a single practice yet. We don't know a single thing yet about how he is going to coach in college. We don't know how he and the assistants will interact. I want to be pleasantly surprised versus woefully disappointed because i set my expectations so high that its so very unlikely to happen. Calling him King Woodson. And claiming every recruit will fit perfectly in his scheme. Or guaranteeing banners within years. I personally can't get that excited yet. I am getting more interested in seeing what happens. But i not crowning any coach the next coming. Just not my style any more. I have been burned to much to jump in feet first. I will wait and see. Hope you all are right and i can join the bandwagon later.
  8. They should be stretch goals. But to many are talking Banners already in year 1 or 2. That is always the goal but i don't feel should be the expectation in the next couple years. We need to rebuilt and redesign. It could happen but i am not hanging my hat on it
  9. don't disagree. I am talking strictly the talent we have/had on this team. Will they improve shooting? Will they play better defense without the pack line? Will they increase the BBIQ. Will they make AF like jumps? I often wondered how talented we were this year vs how well coached they were. I think its a combination of both. I just think we should temper our expectations of next year. I would be happy to show actually improvement from players and then in the W/L column. Have a recruiting class/Portal transfers to fill actual holes we have. So until then, i am cautiously optimistic
  10. That is the million dollar question. Will we go from a 12-15 to a 15-12, 17-10, etc. Is the talent there and was a coaching issue. Was it a talent issue alone? Or was it a combination. I really do hope we have the success everyone seen to want to predict already. Allot of championship talk about there already and every recruit is a perfect fit for Coach Woodson's approach to basketball. And we haven't yet seen a single practice let alone a game plan. I am afraid putting this coaching staff that high up on a pedestal is going to cause allot of heartache if they can't live up to the Second Coming of Coach Knight mentality allot of people are having right now. I do hope everyone is right. I just can't jump on that wagon yet. I plan to walk a little further down the path before getting excited about anything IU men's basketball. But then again, I am a terrible fan who should go back to Peegs
  11. meh, maybe he doesn't match well with Coach Woodson. just because many on here think he is the second coming of Coach Knight doesn't make him that. Maybe he was told to expect one coaching hire and then we ended up with Coach Woodson. Maybe he doesn't trust the administration any more. Maybe he was told they were not going to fire CAM and then did it. He is 20, who knows what's going on in his head or within the program. If he wants to transfer, ok, get on with it. If he comes back, he will be slightly tainted but i am sure that will wear off as the season progresses.
  12. Yeah he just wasn't a good for for rural farmland Iowa.
  13. Steve was considered a major league a-hole here in Iowa. They felt he acted like he should be treated special because of who he was. And this was being said while he was a coach. After he left, good god how they rail on him. They hate him with a passion. If I want to get my Iowa friends going I just have to bring up Steve Alford. You'd think I kicked their puppy or punched their baby.
  14. No its not. I live outside of Indiana where there are Badger, Hawkeye, Gopher, and Nebraska fans. None of them think we're a bad fanbase. They used to envy us. They wished to have what we have. Now they feel sorry for us. Feel like we haven't had good luck with coaches or players. But they aren't saying we're a bad fanbase. You should get a cape and some tights and become Super IU Scott. You can banish bad fans in a single post. "Off to the Peegs with you heathen". Stand at the top of your High Horse and look down upon us lowly, terrible fans who just don't see the error of our stupid ways.
  15. Yeah, in your opinion. Not a professional opinion. Not an informed opinion backed up by data, examples or facts. An opinion you continually use to degrade and put other posters on blast because they don't immediately jump on the IU Scott train of thinking. It took you less than 12 hours from the moment the coach was announced to you telling posters they were bad fans and should back to Peegs. You can have your opinion and sometimes i even agree with what you say. But telling someone how to be a fan or support the program is not one of them
  16. Sorry i thought he was on the 76 team, so started the 75 year. Regardless, i don't care when he played for IU. And honestly i don't care that he coached in the NBA. We're not an NBA team with NBA talent or resources or time, etc, etc, etc. Just my opinion.
  17. mostly i am beige to it. Really want to see how he recruits. What kind of development he gets out of those who stay and what product we put on the floor. I don't care if he played for Bob Knight. I don't care he was part of the 75 team. I don't care that he has coaches in the NBA. I care that he can win games. Winning will make everyone happy. Period.
  18. I don't know if it was WWW but didn't we have some concerns with a friend of the program some years back about some shady dealings. I have this vague memory about the board talking about it.
  19. This is where you are always wrong Scott. You assume because people didn't like the hire or have something other than 100% positivity that they are not behind the program or that the fanbase is fractured. The program is bigger and will last longer than any one hire. I can love IU basketball and hate the administration, the coach and the current roster of players (not that i do, just an example). That doesn't change my love for the program. Coaches will come and go. Players will come and go. IU basketball will be there when they are dead and gone. I don't have to love the hire. I don't have to put on a smile and rah rah rah. I can say this hire sucks. I don't think it will work. And we'll be back here in 4 years. But game night, i will root for IU to win and for us to hang another banner. I love being proven wrong. But i don't need you or any other mouth breather telling me i am bad fan because i don't subscribe to your version of fandom. so STFU and move on if someone doesn't agree with you
  20. I don't think anyone is not going to give him a chance, i just think those who didn't think he is a grand slam or home run hire have the right to no think he is the next Bob Knight that a lot of people are trying to say. Lets all take a breath from the Sunshine to the gloom and see how it plays out a bit. Other than the always hate everyone about IU people, most of the those who are disappointed will be here the whole time, rooting for IU and hoping they are wrong. But it is ok to not like the hire and still love the program. That is one of the biggest issues i have with some posters. Just because someone doesn't agree or subscribe to their opinion, they blast them and tell them to leave and go back to wherever and blah blah blah. They are as bad as the total negative people. Just my thoughts. Wait and see. Currently we're in a Schrodinger's Cat situation. The hire is both awesome and terrible at the same time. Its going to take a couple years to see which one it is. Neither opinion is currently correct. Root for IU though, is what we all do, just with different colored lenses in the glasses we wear
  21. No its not. You have spent 4 years blasting College basketball and how its getting worst and worst and you can't stand to watch it. And just because coaches don't have NBA caliber offenses doesn't mean an NBA coach is FAR SUPERIOR than a college coach. There is so much different in college that they aren't nearly the same game. Not to mention the talent level and amount of time and resouce you have in the NBA vs College to practice and learn. Its easy to say implement a NBA style offense and defense, but you better have the talent and bbIQ players to do so. Look how long and hard it took for our current team to learn the defense CAM ran. I am just saying they are both called basketball but there is so much difference that they truly are not the same sport anymore.
