When do we play Rutgers?
-
Duke just dropped out of the Top 25, which mean most likely next year they will win the Nation Title

I know we have our game tonight but anyone think our game at Sparty Sunday happens? Selfishly I wouldn't mind playing them later so we can get Armaan back at full strength and some of our other guys can rest some lingering injuries.
You also don't know what later in the season might being for injuries or exhaustion either. I would rather play them now with us playing fairly well.

i often wonder if Harden hates his beard. He has had to wear it for so long now because its his trademake. Like does he wake up and and look at himself in the mirror and tell his beard how much he hates him and threatens to shave it off. Then just cries a little to himself and gets ready for the day

Best D? Completely depends on the coaching system and team. I'm fine with CAM's D -- It's a top 15 D. But we have to adjust better to 4 and 5-out spread offenses, we have to learn how to extend the pack line better.
I think you need at least 3 different defensive schemes. A solid man to man you can switch too as needed. The Pack Line is fine and some sort of easy Zone to throw at them.
I have never coached so this might not be reaosnable to ask of a team but i think everyone can at least play a Man to Man along with the Pack Line.

That’s how NW beat IU, PSU came close, and Neb was in it until the end. The 3 ball.
Is that an inherent issue with the pack-like D?
From an offensive perspective, it can be risky to live and die by the 3, but for some reason, teams that play that way always seem to execute vs IU.
The pack line is supposed to be able to extend out and push the 3 point shooter out off the line to keep that from happening. Maybe we don't have the athletes or are still learning the system or just have had bad luck when it comes to when it comes to other team shooting against us.
I honestly don't know, since out defense is pretty good in my opinion.

I watched the whole Mich/Wisc game last night. It was a good game right up until the 10 minute mark. Then the wheel just disappeared from Wisc. Michigan started dropping 3s, got Wisconsin's big with 2 fouls, the coach took him out and Michigan upped the defense and just laid it on. The 40-6 run was like watching a car wreck in slow motion. Each shot on each end just expanded the gap and you couldn't believe Wisconsin didn't take more timeouts or change up the line up or put their big back in. Nope, just watched his team get murdered on live TV.
They are really good but they are not going to shoot like that every night. But i will say this, if you leave their outside shooters open, they will bury you very quickly. Wisconsin couldn't guard to save their lives on the perimeter and it was their undoing.

Michigan took Wisconsin behind the woodshed. The game wasn't nearly as close as the score said. At one point, it was a 40-3 run. It was an epic beatdown.

Yeah I probably won't watch us play Iowa.
I get the feeling we'll be playing well and leading going into the final minute, then Bohannon will hit three contested 3's late to win it.
My wife still remembers the time a water bottle got thrown across our living room in frustration when he last played against us in Iowa City.
Yeah Bohannan has had IU's number for several years. Mostly that is because we don't come out and guard in your face 3 point shooter and if they shoot from 6' behind the arc, we're not in the same area code as them.

You know what I notice about him? He doesn't slap. He hits every you every possession with his body, over and over and over. He could foul out 5 possessions in a row but by him never slapping at the ball he avoids many calls.
Garza has a very high Basketball IQ and the drive/motor/passion to make something of himself. He will be on an NBA team at some point in his career

Then there is Bohannon....
Just think, he get another year for free thanks to Covid. He and Weisman will be back for another year

Yeah I understand and wasn’t implying you were being unreasonable, I agree it looks (at this point) that we’ll be riding our D. I hope to see some adjustments- playing time adjustments and offensive sets to spread outside scoring, but we do have guys who can score, it’s implementation and strategy imo more than personnel
We can't just be this bad on offense. We have talent. Just need to try something different. I would love to see our guards constantly running off screen after screen tying to get open. And screen being set that put defenders on their asses. I don't care if we get moving screen violations. Put someone on their ass with a screen. They will go around you next time.

I think 10-10 is likely. We’ll see
that's why we play the games. To see how we stack up. I just think our offensive deficiencies are going to be our downfall on to many close winnable games. Our defense will keep us close in a lot of games though, which are just going to cause more heartache since we're going to be within striking distance so many time.
Just my crystal ball prediction

Nope...any team can beat any other team on a given day...
Everybody will finish 10-10 and the screaming for CAMs scalp will be at a fever-pitch 😁
Oh how i wish i could believe we will end up 10-10

The biggest foul that is overlooked to me is the forearm push off by guards wo create space. It does get called occasionally but man, they let guards do it all game. Drive me crazy to see it over and over

Can we just start a "Hot Seat" thread where all these arguments can take place. Its a legitimate discussion and one that is ok to discuss, but can we not discuss it in every single thread. And i say this knowing i get sucked in to the discussion myself at time. We definitely know there are several groups of fans within this board.

I'd call his offense "uneven" (3 1/2 poor games) but his defense, particularly his on the ball defense, has been very good...
But my point was the discrepancy in how the analytics rate Rob vs Kristian as opposed to the real numbers...
I don't think there's a person on this board that thinks Lander, for all of his potential, should start or get more time than Phinisee...
I disagree, I think lander should start. I think he has a better upside and maybe Rob would be better coming off the bench. He has had almost no offensive growth. Lander isn't as good a defender but he is a better passer and ball handler. Not as good a shooter but at least he shoots his shots. Rob just waits and wait and wait until he get 2 perfect 3 pointers. I like Rob, but i would prefer to grow lander this year and have him blow up next year.
Move rob to the 2 guard and Franklin to the 3 or have Franklin the 2 and rob as the 3 guard when needed.
just me though. Rob frustrates me because he should by all account be much better than he is right now

Also so am never going to apologize for talking about watching great college basketball that we use to have. I am sorry for the younger people who were not able to see when college basketball was truly great

Looked at Arkansas' stats through five games. Don't see where Justin Smith gained anything from the transfer.
ARK shoots a lot of threes (45% of their attempts). Yet, JS is ninth on their roster in 3pt attempts and is 2-7 on the year. He's 12-21 on FTs. He's averaging 12 ppg and 5.6 rebounds per game. Also averages 1.6 TOs/game. Very similar to his IU stats.
They have two forwards, who've played fewer minutes, who've attempted 22 and 20 threes, respectively.
Have you dug into how they are using him? Is he on the block more than the perimeter? I would be interested in knowing how the coach is using him

couldn't be any better! as long as Purdouche loses (and they blew a 20 point lead) and we win the rest, i'm good! so nice living in ACC country to have the B1G take it to them. Iowa is very good. they can shoot the lights out. were hot 1st half and cold 2nd, but they have multiple shooters, move the ball well, and they have Garza. if i were allowed to say they will kick us in the teeth, i would, but i'm going to be positive... we've got a chance!
Iowa is legit good. If they can stay out of the late season collapse, they are final 4 good

yes, you can train lateral quickness. But big guys have it or they don't. Davis didn't have it. Garza doesn't have it. You can work around your short cumming but nothing wrong with saying its something to worry about.
