  1. Yeah I don’t think you’re off base at all. I think that’s a valid point.
  2. I agree the conference isn’t consistent with officiating. I feel like some games Edey should’ve shot way more free throws than he did while other nights he shoots a lot. 17 free throw attempts for a guy that big and skilled isn’t crazy especially when Collins spoke about his strategy to use all 15 big men fouls on him. Agree it can hurt us come tournament time too. But I think this team is better insulated against different officiating compared to last year.
  3. Curious which bigs can play Edey to a draw or close to a draw?
  4. I mean he’s a projected first rounder lol. There are certain things to knock him for but footwork certainly isn’t one of them.
  5. Agree to disagree. I think they kept fouling us because of how poorly we were shooting at the line. If we shoot close to our normal percentage, my guess is you’d see the free throws more even. Hack-a-TKR was in full effect. Against Illinois (a much more aggressive defensive team than Purdue), they only shot 13 free throws. They don’t shoot many free throws and they foul a lot (likely more tonight because of how poorly we were at the line).
  6. Purdue doesn’t foul much as a team though. They give up long jumpers and play drop coverage. That’s how they play defense. NW was much more physical and likely even more so when they saw how poorly we were shooting free throws.
  7. I’ll admit that should’ve been a charge. Buie got away with a double dribble in OT that wasn’t called. Refs miss sometimes.
  8. NW gives up a ton of free throws and doesn’t take many. They take a lot of jumpers and don’t have a legit big guy down low to draw fouls and shoot free throws. At face value, the discrepancy looks bad but diving deeper, it’s not that far off. Collins said before the game he was going to use all 15 fouls for his bigs and then got mad that they were called. Game isn’t close if we shoot like we normally do from the line though.
  9. Saying he has terrible footwork might legit be one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard lol. He had a dunk where he spun away from the defender that was unreal. And I always love a good, “if so and so weren’t as tall, they wouldn’t be good.” It’s always worth a laugh.
  10. The college rule where you only have to lift a foot to reset the count. Not the rule itself.
  11. Ahh I see. Didn’t understand when you said “get elsewhere.”
  12. Hope all the injured guys (X especially) are alright. Hate to see that stuff.
  13. Any idea why the fall-off? I’ll admit I don’t follow Carmel as closely as I used to (mostly since Cline and McRoberts left).
  14. Don’t think he does that tbh (at least not often).
  15. Edey was bracing his fall haha. Mayer certainly sold it a bit too. And they called a foul I’m sure?
  16. Quotes from nearly a year ago versus actual video evidence of games within the last few weeks? I think the rule is pretty bogus tbh but Edey knows how to make the best of it.
  17. Looked at the two and the postseason results are eerily similar. Don’t realize St. John’s isn’t far from 2,000 wins as a program. Purdue has had the better regular season success but def not a stretch to compare them. And I don’t think it’s a slight to Purdue either tbh.
  18. How often do I complain about calls? Usually only the really egregious ones. I called out one play that I disagreed with lol. Not sure why you continue to bring up the whole why do I come here in the first place? I’ve been posting on here a long time, am respectful, and can have good conversation with the folks on here. It’s fun to talk basketball with non-Purdue fans which is why I post here and on other non-Purdue boards. If you did post on a Purdue board in a thread about B1G basketball, I wouldn’t have any issue with that. Everyone can choose how and where they post.
  19. Edey is allowed to turn and face the basket even if the defender is already there. Now if it’s excessive, sure it’s an offensive foul.
  20. Does he get away with stuff sometimes? Absolutely. Does he get hacked/held/mauled and it doesn’t get called? Absolutely. Saying he gets away with murder while not acknowledging that he gets fouled constantly is interesting to say the least. Plenty of teams try the “they can’t call all of the fouls so let’s just hack away” strategy.
  21. That’s not true either. A guy on Twitter has reviewed multiple games of ours and has proven that Edey does a great job avoiding the three second call. He lifts one of his feet up which resets the count (only a rule in college I believe).
  22. I know I’m biased but Braden Smith not making this list is laughable.
