  1. He already has a BA and MBA from Purdue so that’d be smart to get another degree from a school like Duke, get paid, and play for a good team.
  2. Lol he might. But he picked a great school and a great program after getting 2 degrees from Purdue. This all boils down to it not being about lack of NIL for him leaving. He was always going to leave (same with Morton) after the season. We didn’t even attempt to bring him back.
  3. I think it’s clear both Loyer and Smith are sharpshooters but both struggled at times last year. I think some have a harder time adjusting to the college game than others and they were both worn down by the end of that season. I think they’ll both see a dip next year with Zach gone but still think they’ll shoot it well. To me, it’s a combination of form, consistency, etc…. Even with Galloway’s high percentage a few years ago, I never considered him a sharpshooter for example. FTR, I think Essegian is a sharpshooter too.
  4. They missed the tournament 47 years in a row lol. No way they deserve top 25 over Purdue and plenty of others.
  5. I’m obviously biased but I don’t think there’s any way you can leave Purdue out of the top 25 even without a championship. Top 10 in all-time wins, most B1G championships, All-Americans galore. Don’t see any real argument for Wisky over Purdue honestly especially with them missing the tournament 40+ years in a row.
  6. I don’t disagree with any of that and think you make a lot of good points. But at the same time, NIL has evened up the playing field for teams that couldn’t compete before (see Miami for example). It’ll be interesting to see what the portal/NIL looks like once the COVID year is gone after this upcoming season.
  7. I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive. Look at a school like Illinois. They’ve got robust NIL and have a history like Purdue’s not IU. Plenty of NIL heavy hitters don’t have better tradition than an IU or Purdue. All it takes is a John Ruiz at Miami to buy a Nijel Pack for example. Definitely helps having an alum like a Cuban or Ishbia for MSU that’s for sure.
  8. Did you read the disclaimer? It talked about how they estimated it but admitted it’s private data that isn’t shared and it’s simply a “best guess.” Regardless, Purdue hasn’t been hurt by NIL nor will it be moving forward.
  9. Lol the collective figure is simply an estimate and there’s no way to know how much we actually have. And IIRC, your numbers are inflated because of a donation to the athletic department from the university to help with COVID costs. Wasn’t a “true” donation but rather a loan that the university has to pay back. $38 million gift from the school.
  10. Far from salty just having a conversation. How do you know we’re lacking? Any proof there? You think Kel’el Ware comes to IU if you guys didn’t open up the checkbook? I think tradition matters for high school recruits more than portal guys tbh.
  11. I’m sure it would’ve been nice but in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn’t have changed much for Purdue. They’re not going to start recruiting completely different types of kids/players just because they made it to the championship game. May help get their foot in the door with some higher-rated guys but Painter knows what type of player/person he wants on his team.
  12. I guess it’s rent free for the other program he’s talking about too? Or maybe he’s just making a general comment and people freaked out for no reason. Regardless, he hit the nail on the head about kids not caring about that stuff.
  13. I’ll be honest that I think it’s dumb and should go away unless we’re playing you guys. Don’t think it’s a huge portion of our fanbase but mostly the students. Hopefully they make a change at some point because it’s a bad look.
  14. He wasn’t talking about IU lol. It was a broad comment that pertains to multiple programs (hence the 90’s reference) And he’s right that kids don’t care about that stuff.
  15. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up somewhere with a former Purdue coach like ND or Oklahoma State.
  16. Cool? I post on multiple boards of multiple fanbases.
  17. It’s literally nothing. This was decided before the season even started. Pretty obvious what kind of culture Painter has built where former players come back on the regular. Gillis and Morton will be part of that group moving forward and left on good terms. Gillis got 5 years at Purdue but something is off because he’s not going to get 6?
  18. And they’ll both be there 5 years right? Gillis spent 5 years at Purdue. Morton you could make a case for but the dude barely played this year.
  19. NIL at Purdue changed when they lost Pack to Miami. They got the alliance up to speed quickly after that happened. NIL was well funded before Edey won NPOY. And yes Gillis wants a bigger role. Good for him and I wish him the best.
