I think it's more telling that 7 seniors I think? could return and only one is. So although they are going to act like this isn't a big deal, it obviously is.

This is the least of my concerns. I am sure many folks commented.

This is what Woody brings...connections.

He corrected the year.

Yeah, he's already got some bulk. So he's going to be a physical presence when he puts on more muscle.

I would think it would be a lot to be honest.

Another addition to staff

I think the point is, the moves they have been making are the best the program has done in a long time. BIG STRIDES. Matta hire was huge. -

What I love most about all of this is, they are spending $$$ on coaches. These are guys who are very well connected and respected. To be honest, this situation is as good as hiring Stevens. I too and most people I knew, were not high on hiring Woodson. We were all wrong. What I wanted IU to do was build a foundation for long term success. With who they have brought in, any hand off from Woodson (hopefully after success) to his successor (Fife?) will have been working with experienced guys (Woodson, Matta, Hill, Hunter) and younger "up and comers" and everything in between (Larry Brown, CBK, Isiah, etc.). This is a very, very impressive staff. Compare this to Archie's staff and it's night and day. Any disappointment on my end was erased when they got Matta and Fife, the rest of this is over-the-top. Nothing is certain, but outside of them getting caught cheating, I don't see how this can fail. -

Big time CBB programs are or will have to start approaching how they operate much differently. Archie's failure seems similar to why these older guys are leaving. It's a multi level operation much more aligned to the NBA than it used to be. At some point it will come semi full circle though where the coaches just coach and everyone else in the program handles the rest of it. As it stands now, head coaches are going to burn out way faster than before and/or you're only going to have total "marketing" or "charisma" type guys and older school "coaching coaches" who love the x's and o's but not so much the rest, will be relegated to assistants or lead smaller programs. -

The rumors will be there no matter the truth, but I highly doubt any of this is true. Doesn't mean Stevens won't end up there. But I'm betting he won't. Talk about tough shoes to fill, and Coach K is going to be able to choose his replacement. That I know 100%. -
2023 PG Jeremy Fears Commits to Michigan State

This stuff is pretty silly. That Luke Brown video was ridiculous. It's encouraging dumb stuff. You can be a total baller at that level purely because you have more experience or grow earlier than the other kids. Not that they will not succeed, but I have seen plenty of "can't miss" 7th graders meet their match once the reach a certain level. Fancy dribbling and passing will only get you so far. I am not hating on these guys, but the innocence of these kids is being stripped away earlier and earlier these days, but it's the times we live in and isn't going away. -

Tamar Bates Commits to INDIANA!!
OGIUAndy replied to Between2Halls's topic in General Basketball Discussion
What I like about the highlights most, his intensity. I want more guys like TJD with some swagger. We used to be the team that would start the scuffles, now we're the team that helps the opponent up off the ground. No more of that please. Intimidation is important. At home or on the road, fear no one and play like it. I haven't seen that at IU in a looooooong time. If I was a leader of the team, that's the first thing I would instill upon them. -
I would guess Knight blew him off when he basically begged him to be there for his induction into the IU Hall of Fame. But that’s a guess. Mine and other IU fans biggest criticism of CBK over the years is how he repeatedly claims to care about his players more than himself. But his pride and ego always seemed to win out. I’m glad he finally came back, but there was really no reason not come back years earlier, instead he crapped on fans by doing OSU and PU events. Fans and players begged him to come back for years.

Exactly. You need fans to pay to attend games. Who are these fans going to be? -
Woodson sees promise in Lander

I hope Woodson sees promise with all the guys on the team. -
After taxes and some bad purchases (maybe million dollar+ house and cars) that money would be gone pretty quickly. All these guys should have money managers, but $5.2 million isn't a lot per se if you are spending it like you are a millionaire. This is a nice chunk of change to live well but not over spend. You could live off the interest if invested sensibly. My "friend" works for a bank that does loans for athletes and the number one thing they do even before they get their first check is buy an expensive house for themselves or family. By the time they get paid they're already in debt. They really need to understand their careers only last a few years but that money needs to last a lifetime.

Now we’re jumping the shark.

Sean and Archie will most likely team up somewhere would be my guess. I could see a lot of Power 5 teams that would take a flyer on Sean especially if he says "I am bringing my brother with me" Then in 2-3 years Archie would get a lot offers I bet. He was not good at IU, but he's got a lot of connections and a pretty successful track record. IU ain't like many schools. Look at a place like DePaul. They hired Dave Leitao twice!!! He'll most likely get an offer out East.

There really can only be one. Same with Priller.

As long as Kopp is the next Evan Fitzner, we'll be in great shape!! 😑
