Playing QB for Brohm is always appealing. But no we won’t win many recruiting battles against LSU especially for a kid literally from BL lol.

I mean, absolutely….who wouldn’t want to play for a guy whose complete 20 Year NFL QB tree consists of Brian Brohm, Stefan LeFors, Brandon Doughty, Mike White and David Blough??? Dude is a molder of men and absolute success stories.

Doesn't this position change likely mean Dexter Williams (a redshirt sophomore who was injured last season) was in front of McCulley on the depth chart and is next in line?

I would hope so but I have no idea. All I’ve read is that it was a “2 horse race” and so DMC was headed to the WR room. Dex hasn’t played a single down yet in college but hopefully he’s been impressive in practice? To Btown’s point, he likely could qualify as a freshman if he wants to with the covid year and injury year. Sadly, unless someone gets injured, he’s not likely to get any reps this year with Conor and Tuttle jockeying for as many as they can get.

Could be a huge 6’5” target

I’m all for setting this kid up for success at whatever position makes that possible but this doesn’t exactly set IUFB up for the future. If Bazelak doesn’t want a 5th year, transfers, gets hurt, we have no one to take over the helm for 2023. Seems like the risk/reward really isn’t there. Hopefully CB has indicated to the staff that he’s here for at least one more year even if he doesn’t beat out Tuttle this season and we can recruit a top QB talent for 2023.

In the pre-division era of Big Ten football, there were years we didn't play MSU. Each team had two protected rivals. Ours were Purdue and Illinois. If we get different protected rivals this time around, it will likely be due to there being more teams in the league now.

I’d also like to think MSU has a higher priority secondary rival than us. If there were no “trophy” that game wouldn’t be considered a rivalry game by either fan base.

I guess you didn’t read what I wrote.

Uk & ku & Duke all cheated…. Some for 50+ years

RMK never cheated….besides Sampson & Romeo it’s hard to tarnish IU  with cheating allegations

Leave it to a Purdue fan to somehow equate an alleged plot between Adidas, Louisville & Rick Pitino to offer Romeo’s dad’s AAU team a run of the mill sponsorship amount to somehow being a cheating allegation against IU. Especially when said plot was supposedly well within the rules anyway.

Also, given what we know has occurred over the past two decades, anyone who still considers what Sampson did as “cheating” are the adult equivalent of the kid who’d tell the teacher you looked over at their paper during a test. You may be right on a technicality but you’re still a major doucher and no one (including your own mother) actually likes you.

    Nope.

The worst loss was when we were a #1 seed and lost to Syracuse because Crean could not figure out their zone

That Syracuse team made the Final Four, lots of teams lost to them….just because we should have won doesn’t make it the worst loss in NCAA history. Disappointing loss? Sure. Massively. In my memory the worst loss in tourney history was 2000-01  season against Kent St. That team obviously had all the talent needed for a huge run (showed it the next year) and lost to a mediocre mid major

I think having the conference tournament and playing the 20 conference games is hurting the conference.  I know I am old school but don't think it is a coincidence that the big ten hasn't faired well since we expanded the conference.  We play to many conference games which is such a grind and just flat out tires the teams.

The selection committee goes out of their way to declare that the conference tournament games don’t count. At some point the BigTen needs to figure out that the juice isn’t worth the squeeze and NCAA success trumps what little revenue the conf tournament brings. At the very least shrink it to the top 8 teams or figure out scheduling so there’s a week between the two tournaments

I don’t like making excuses but that sh$t show at the airport HAD TO take something out of these guys. This is the worst game of the year or past several years….. These guys are completely gassed!!!!

If the conference tournament games aren’t going to count, stop playing them. My hatred of the play in game and lack of common sense on logistics is also well documented.

Mid major is just a name...a term.  Doesn't mean that they can't have a terrific basketball team that can beat a Big Ten team.  The parity in college basketball has been known for quite awhile.  IU has a number of what I could easily call mid major quality players...thanks to the previous head coach.

I get it but those same players had all kinds of other others to major programs. I know Woody still needs time but we’re not playing the Anthony Davis lead Kentucky team. We’re playing St Marys

I hope Woody has the same kind of speech tonight that he did against UM.

Geronimo needs to stay on the court and not foul in the second half. If he can do that and Galloway can play with some form of control we have a chance. But this is not a team you want to get behind on when your 3s and 4s can’t guard the perimeter

  11. We’re not doing anything but broken down one on one shots on offense and not guarding the perimeter. If there were two things that absolutely couldn’t happen today its those. Meanwhile we’re getting schooled by a squad full of kids who wouldn’t be offered a scholarship to IU. I’m tired of watching other programs do more with “less” while we recruit 5 star guys who can’t make a layup.

It's done in Dayton because there will be crowds regardless of who is playing.  Great basketball town.  It deserves to keep the event.

Keep it in Dayton, but have the teams set up to play in a EDT or CDT time zone for the next round.

The round of 64 host sites already have thousands of fans descending upon them for their games, just include the first four in the package…many will attend because it’s something to do and the curiosity of seeing your teams next opponent.  The other teams’ fan bases deserve an opportunity to follow them to the next round. I get that for IU/ND/WSU, it’s less of a stretch and to your point, the NCAA could be more intelligent (that’s asking a lot) in where they send the winners but asking Texas Southern, Bryant, Wyoming and Rutgers fans to travel to Dayton then potentially Dallas, Portland or San Diego is a disservice to those fan bases especially players families who can’t afford flights to Dayton and last minute fares the next day to god knows where. Dayton being a fine basketball town shouldn’t supersede the logistical cluster it creates.

You don't get the point that all three of those locations are immensely closer than Portland or SD are to Dayton? Heck two of the three are in the same time zone, that alone is huge.

If that was your point, it’s irrelevant. None of winners from the First Four go to Indy or Pittsburgh or even Milwaukee for that matter. IU goes to Portland, Texas Southern to Dallas. Today’s winners both go to San Diego to play Arizona or Alabama respectively. Regardless, I don’t care if it’s a 3 hour drive, playing in Dayton gives the waiting team a competitive advantage without providing any value.

Milwaukee, Indy, and Pittsburgh all within simple driving distances lol

I’m not sure I get your point? Having the play in game in Dayton makes sense because the other destinations are drivable? Milwaukee is 7+ hours from Dayton by bus without traffic. Doubt a team would even opt to drive that. Play in games at separate venues has no value or purpose. Period

I'm super concerned for our energy and stamina for this game.

These travel issues are not a small thing. I don't know about you all, but I've taken red eyes before and was a complete mess the next day.

It’s totally asinine to have a play in game in Dayton where the winner has to then fly immediately across the country to Portland. Play in games need to be in the same venue as the round of 64 destination. I can’t even believe this needs to be said but it’s the NCAA, who are morons.

    You can't....

Lavin claimed they’re allowed to assess during the review if the fouled defender is inside the “cylinder” of the player on offense. Whether that’s true or not, I don’t know. If it were anyone else but Lavin (and Bill Walton) I’d be inclined to take their word for it but Lavin is a bonafide moron so here’s a grain of salt to go with his take. Even if true, it’s quite a BS sequence to only review a play to see if the offensive foul should also be a flagrant only to reassess all together. There are dozens of plays throughout a game that would be overturned if a replay was allowed and games would take 5 hours. The review should have been to confirm no flagrant and move on.

Just want to give TJD more props.  ONE MORE YEAR, PLEASE!!!

He has to know he needs to develop his jumper or he’s not getting drafted in the 1st round if at all. Maybe we can get him some NIL money and convince him he’d benefit from another year but I doubt it. IU leads the nation in undrafted underclassmen

If this is the post game thread?

Proud of our dudes. What a game. Just weren't quite sharp enough. Onto to next week!

We had so many opportunities to put this one away so it’s a tough pill to swallow but yes, very proud of this team and this 3 game run. Was really hoping for a Purdue rubber match for the title.
