  1. I feel like the vast majority on this board were REALLY, REALLY hoping and glad that Geronimo came back.
  2. Great news for IU basketball. I really like this for Reneau. When was the last time a kid of his status come in without the weight of the world on his shoulders? Not being looked upon by a fan base to carry the load? Being able to go at it in practice with two seasoned, excellent players in Race and Trayce. Two guys with two different body types and skillsets. This team has a chance to be really, really special.
  3. Brooks can't shoot the three. Doesn't grab many rebounds. Under 50% FG last year. I'll take Geronimo.
  4. It's funny you say that. I thought the exact same thing. They both play exactly the same way.
  5. Gonna be honest, I would love to get Carr in this class. Insanely athletic. Plays with a reckless abandon, and seems to have pretty good handles. Would be an Uber athletic team. He and Geronimo 🤯
  6. I would hope IU calls. Has size. Shot 40% from three this year.
  7. There's no denying this kid has a picturesque jumper. If he can just come in a few minutes a game and knock in a few threes, we will be a MUCH better team.
  8. Looking forward to Dexter Dennis shutting him down
  9. Virtually any laborer that works for a Fortune 500 company could make this same argument. The only way to fight it is quit, strike, or create an alternative.
  10. How not? Especially when there's alternatives, such as Europe, sitting out a year, etc. You know what you get when you take a scholarship and play under the NCAA. Don't think it's worth it? Don't do it.
  11. It's no doubt going to add pressure on players. But at the end of the day, this is what many of them wanted, and those are the expectations when you take the $800,000. A company doesn’t hire someone for top dollar and put up with mediocre results. Whether they want to admit it or not, they are "professionals" in a sense now. I dont think many kids will ever understand that. They are 18-22 years old, I wouldn't expect them to. But they'll learn real quick, there's no such thing as free money. People and universities that pay that kind of money expect results. No excuses. Kids better learn how to deal with those expectations.
  12. Looks and sounds like the staff doesn't believe Evans is a lock for Oregon
  13. And the ones he hit were some of the biggest shots in crunch time.
  14. Well. That certainly doesn't hurt anything
  15. I'm not worried at all about the outside shooting, and the attempts (although you make a good point). Stewart and Kopp just weren't very good defensively, at least the games I watched. I guess my point is, if you bring a guy like Dennis in, give him a few good open looks a game and get phenomenal defense, that's better than finding a 35% 3 point shooter that plays putrid defense. I think Dennis offers more than that player. I think if we can put Kopp in a position to come off the bench and primarily be a 3 point shooter, we will be much better off. I think at this point, outside of Dennis, we'd just be adding more Kopp’s. Not that there isn't a role for a player like that, but do you need two players in that role?
  16. Inefficient in what sense? We don't really know what we are getting yet in Schifino, Bates, and Gunn. Kopp is what he is. A known commodity that will at bare minimum give you lock down defense and decent handles wouldn't be the worst thing in the world when we are "hoping" freshmen and guys that played little last year suddenly produce.
  17. At the end of the day, they are going after him because they think he improves the team. Who are the shooters out there that solve the need of shooting without creating a major liability in another area? There really aren't any. Pack would really be the only one I can think of, and we aren't in the running for him. All others that have experience are 35'ish% 3 point shooters. And you could make a case for or against whether that will translate to this team. Whether it's style of play, level of competition, etc. There's no shooter out there that just wows anyone without being a bum in another area.
  18. I agree 100%. But are we going to have the luxury of having Trayce down low on defense? I want a shooter too. Absolutely fills a void. But if it's another Miller Kopp, are we solving anything? I don't know. Maybe
  19. We say that until the hole in the defense is gaping. So many times last year we watched Kopp and Stewart's guy drive right around them through the lane only to put Trayce and Race in a predicament. I agree with you 1000%. Shooters are absolutely needed. But he's essentially the same player as Kopp. And if we really reaching our potential, Kopp is coming off the bench. If McNeil can hold his own defensively and shoot it at a high clip, then absolutely. He fills a bigger need.
  20. After Malik, we have zero left (assuming Trayce comes back).
  21. The problem with that is, we really don't know what we're getting in JHS. Relying on JHS and Tamar could be dangerous if we are looking to take the next step. We've seen flashes of what Tamar can provide, but he's still relatively unproven. I'd love to get Dennis. A veteran, athletic guy that loves defense. Good slasher and has a good shot. Shot it well as a freshman but regressed a bit for whatever reason. I think he fits in really well and would provide a ton of flexibility. We wouldn't have to rely on freshmen or unproven guys.
  22. I'm really not sure what McNeil would add moreso than Kopp would. Both are shooters that are "meh" on the defensive end. If we didn't have Kopp, I'd be all about it.
  23. Would love to know how the Dexter Dennis visit is going. Would love to round out the class with him. High energy guy.
