  1. I watched Jennings thump a very young Madison team tonight. JC has a little bit of size and play tough defensively, but again… it’s hard to really gauge against the young Cubbies. I think JC will be solid, but I don’t know if they can handle the talent/size that BC will throw at them.
  2. I forgot about Clancy. Good kid, and you’re right.. should be solid. We’re super young in Madison. Most of the starters and rotation are sophomores. With all of the movement these days, it’s hard to keep track of who is playing where.
  3. Staff watching him and Flory today. Stay close fellas!
  4. Anything left in Scottsburg besides Miller?
  5. I know this probably a biased statement, but whether you’re a big, wing, or ball handler being recruited by Woody and the staff… and you’re watching this team play - how could you not want to be a part of this program moving forward!?! I completely understand that we haven’t started playing the big dogs yet, but man, what a fun group of young men to watch and represent the Indiana basketball program!
  6. JHS has incredible instincts. I’ll agree that he looks the part in comparison to that of EG. But we can’t overlook the impact of Cody and Yogi as intricate freshmen pieces, and where the program was before they got there. I see this current team in a similar light, as I saw that 12-13 team, at least in terms of class balance. The front court, athleticism and depth of this team is better, imo. However, that 12-13 team should’ve won it all if it weren’t for not being able to beat a 2/3 zone. As much respect as I have for Crean… I’ll always wonder what could’ve been. Anyway, back to JHS, I feel like this team is constructed to showcase his abilities in the brightest lights. I believe his impact will be as big as we’ve seen since Bailey. Really looking forward to seeing what can become of this team.
  7. His midrange shot is nice. He knocked down a couple of impressive step back jumpers from about 17 ft in the 2nd exhibition. I know they weren’t D1 bigs, but that’s hard for any big to do in practice, let alone live competition.
  8. First, it’s been a little while since I’ve been on the board, and it’s been awhile since I’ve been this excited about the program. I typically go to a few games each season and always take my son, since he shares the passion as much as I do. Tonight, I decided that I’d take my daughter and mom along too. Neither of them have ever been to AH to see a game, and even though it was an exhibition, my mother had tears in her eyes as we walked in through the tunnel. Such an awesome, wholesome moment. My daughter was so excited, she decided that she was going to commit at eight years old! 😎 My son was able to see a couple of kids that have played against Madison in the past two years, in Bailey and Northern, so he enjoyed it as per usual. Now for the game, and some observations: 1. Our depth is something I haven’t seen at IU in… maybe ever? I don’t know if Banks dressed or not, but you have to think that he, Duncomb and Leal could play, if not start at some of the lower level D1 schools - and they’re apparently our 11th, 12th, and 13th scholarship player options on the depth chart. 2. Our freshmen were impressive. I had a feeling that JHS and Malik would be solid, but they were much better, as far as making an impact, than I anticipated. I get that they weren’t going up against high level D1 players… I get it. But they still have to make the right pass, take the right shot etc. and they did all of that at such a high level, I was really impressed. Malik had a couple of nice step-back jumpers that looked effortless, and looked good handling the rock. JHS does everything very well, and at a high level… let’s enjoy this kid, because he may not be here long. I also really liked what I saw from CJ Gunn. That kid looks like he’s put on at least 15 pounds of muscle since he arrived. He looked comfortable, and didn’t try to do too much. 3. Our front court is going to be a problem for everyone we play. They’ll be capable of adapting to smaller lineups, and playing bully ball as needed.TJD and Race, while going against much smaller opponents, made everything look easy. As they should, but man, what a pair. 4. Bates and XJ looked great, but made a couple of mistakes when they tried to do too much themselves. They can get any shot that they want, and can create for others as well. 5. Miller Kopp looked nice. He knocked down his open shots and played smart basketball. I think he’s going to provide everything that we thought we were getting last season, this year. 6. Jordan Geronimo might be my favorite player since Yogi. His high motor and explosiveness are elite. I love the energy that he brings every time he touches the floor. That young man has springs for legs! 7. The idea of having a first and second unit and subbing like the NBA didn’t sit well with me at first, and Woody may have to shorten the leash as the season moves along… but from what I watched tonight, this may actually work and work well. All of the guys looked fresh, all game. In conclusion, I’m happy with what I saw at the Hall this evening. I think we’re in for a fun season my friends! 🍻
  9. I’d love to get Booker, but I’m optimistic about this class in general, so if/when he chooses MSU… wish him well and move on. I can’t recall, but I believe I remember hearing/seeing a Nike guy commenting that once Fife moved on, Indiana lost whatever - if any momentum they had on Booker.
  10. Yogi is #1 for me - primarily because he was a mainstay on both of IU’s B1G championship teams during that timeframe. Cody is #2 - his commitment was, in my opinion, the biggest in quite some time for IU. That recruitment put us back on the map and lead to several others coming to Bloomington(Yogi specifically). Loved the entire 2013 class, and can’t remember another class where each of them ended up in the NBA. Bryant, Morgan and OG were all great players at IU. Lots of love for Crean’s first two classes as well. Those guys were grinders. VJ3, Jordy and Watford gave us some great moments and were warriors. I felt like we could’ve made some more noise had VJ3 not went down at the end of the season. His leadership was missed during that tournament run, and who knows, maybe we knock off the eventual champs… again. Noah and Romeo were extraordinary talents that could’ve benefited from an additional season, but who am I kidding? They did what was best for them, and I can’t blame them. Vic and Troy were two of the most athletic young me that I recall wearing the candy stripes, and Vic is near the top for me. I felt like Vic hurt his image to some by leaving the Pacers. I don’t really care about that, but others apparently do. He was the guy, then decided to make a business decision. I don’t blame him though. The Pacers have had some great teams, but never have been the type of organization to take that last step to add(spend) the last piece. Sorry, but definitely Yogi and Cody. 😂
  11. First of all, great news - and welcome, Malik! As for guys leaving, or getting “creaned” - I don’t see anyone being forced out. We’ll need some of these guys to be contributors in a year or two. I’m also confident that Leal is perfectly content being the 12th or 13th scholarship player on our roster. He’s living out his childhood dream, and will be ready when his number called. If TJD does in fact stay in the draft, I can imagine that he and Woody have already talked and used it to Woody’s benefit as far as recruiting is concerned. Not saying that’s the case, but I feel strongly about the fact that Woody already knows what TJD’s future holds in regards to playing basketball at Indiana University. I’m excited for what’s to come!
  12. Agree here. LD kind of reminds me of a Bo Ryan type of big. People might forget that he’s on the roster, then out of nowhere, he puts together formidable junior and senior seasons. Maybe not, but he does intrigue me.
  13. I’m not sure about TJD, either way, I can find the good. I don’t know if he’ll get drafted or not… hope he does, but someone pointed out previously that he has fallen out of the mock draft boards. That being said, I think Han improve that by coming back and winning with IU. I wish nothing but the best for our guys. I’ll also add that if he does come back and IUBB does win, and make a deep tourney run… recruiting will get easier from that perspective as well.
  14. Wouldn’t be surprised if one or more follow their former coach.
  15. Kidding aside, I felt like he was walking on eggshells a lot. He definitely had his moments where he forgot that there were other players on the team. However, he had stretches where he looked like a guy with the highest ceiling. Hopefully he gets plenty of run next season and isn’t in a position where if he makes a mistake, he gets pulled right away. I think he’s got a good chance to take a massive step, or he’ll likely move on.
  16. Enjoy! Click the link.. nice little dig at UK losing to Saint Peter’s. Fifteen 🤣
  17. And let’s be honest, nowadays, freshman that aren’t immediate impact players aren’t likely going to be around by the time they’re juniors… or at least kids that aren’t from Indiana @IU.
  18. What’s up with the Davis kid from U of L? Someone sent me a text earlier saying to keep an eye out for him… just saw where he entered the portal on Twitter.
  19. Not sure how many keep up with the former kids, and even though Cliff was only here a season or two… I try to follow him and the others who’ve moved on. Looks like he’s on the move again. I can’t help but think, this is going to be a revolving door. Players, coaches etc… it’s going to be just as crazy as we all thought that it could be.
  20. He would be a welcomed addition, no doubt about it. I’m still curious as to why White would want the Georgia job? I’d consider this a lateral move, if not a slight step down. Anyway, hopefully Malik decides to join JHS in Bloomington.
  21. I really don’t see any way that Rob or Landers returns. When you consider XJ, Bates, Schifino, Gunn and most likely an infusion of transfers… just don’t see it in the cards.
  22. Hopefully Trayce and Race return. I don’t see the upside in Durr, or at least anything more than what he currently contributes. I think Duncomb might go, although I’d really like to see what he has. JG will be back, and I’m most confident in his return.
  23. I’ll preface by saying that I’ve watched many videos of workouts, practice and of course games, but…. Am I alone in thinking that his shot is silky smooth, and that he could mend our shooting woes? I know that he was out of control a lot, earlier in the season, but his past 3 or 4 appearances have been solid. He hasn’t forced anything offensively and has been great on the defensive end. I think his composure has really come a long way and his future is very bright. I’d just like to see him on the floor more. Hopefully we’ll get to see a little more of him tonight.
  24. Perhaps it’s already been mentioned, but the irony about Goodman/IU that, imo, is hilarious… his daughter recently chose IU as her school of choice! So now his very own daughter is bombarding his timeline with IU news/info. Good stuff.
  25. You know, it’s a shame that we didn’t and/or couldn’t take advantage of having TJD and Race here over the past few years. I wish that I could be optimistic moving forward, but it’s difficult… I suppose that I’ll continue watching from afar.
