I think this is a really fair preview. We have a lot of talent, but maybe even more question marks.

Not sure how the pieces really fit together.

That's really the crucial point. Roles will have to be defined and the team will have to accept what those roles are. We have a few guys with immediate NBA aspirations. Not all of them can be featured in CMW's system. Will they accept lesser roles for the good of team? Figuring all of this out may take a while. What I really like is that we have some guys with experience on the bench who can maybe steady the ship as we work through all of this. The potential here reminds me a little of the 81 team minus Thomas. Our frontcourt SHOULD be among the best in the country, if they can figure out how to compliment each other. Hopefully, they buy in on the defensive end because that can keep us in games while the offense catches up.

Don Fischer was on local radio and talked about the scrimmage at practice yesterday. He said the team didn't really look good yesterday and the 2nd team dominated the starters

I expect some rough games early. Too many new pieces and roles for a smooth start. The talent is there to be a really good team as the season processes. I might have picked a bad season to quit drinking.

This might seem like a reach but does anyone know if they allow Uber or Lyft rides home from colonoscopy? I'm the driver tomorrow. My other half has court and I just blew a tire/rim. My uncle has already started the process so I don't want to have him cancel. Just curious if anyone knows the normal rules. Google says 50/50.

My dr. won't allow it. Driver has to be present at check-in and provide a cell number contact for when the procedure is complete.

Defense attorneys provide alternate theory that Richard Allen is innocent and that it was a white supremacist Odinism ritualistic killing. This case is so crazy...something out of a movie. I feel so bad for these girls and the families.

I read the filing and it was beyond disturbing. Local law enforcement apparently misrepresented some witness statements or flat out changed some of the details. And, seemed to have done a very poor job processing the crime scene. My take away was that this is going to be anything but a slam drunk conviction of Richard Allen. Also, whoever the person or persons who killed those young girls was a very sick, sadistic person(s).

  5. He was a summer tradition for me and various family members from the mid-80's to 2009. The early years seemed the best to me. It was really more of a party than a concert sometimes. We always sat in the lawn and enjoyed the crowd. Friendly people just looking to have a good time. Deer Creek in Noblesville always sold out and sometimes very fast. Never a bad time at a Jimmy Buffet show.

This is more for @The Daily Hoosier...your site started going into that "not responding/crashing" mode on Windows Chrome browser a few weeks back.  I didn't say anything, hoping it was a temporary issue, but unfortunately, it's persisted.  It's not a Chrome issue as the TDH site is the only one out of probably 20-25 sites I visit on a daily basis that has this issue.  I hit "wait" when I get the not responding message, but after 2-3 waits, it invariably crashes and I have to reload the site to continue reading whatever article I'm reading.  On a typical article, I have to reload a couple of times to finish reading it.

Annoying, but not enough to keep me from reading TDH...just thought you'd want to know.

...and so you don't feel left out, thanks for the link, @Madison22!

I've been having problems with it too. I read it mostly on a Kindle and it doesn't display correctly. I struggle through the best I can but it's very frustrating.

Everything that was missing us in May and June and early July has now been hitting us pretty hard. This week alone between my yard and aunt's up the road we have had 7 very large branches/trees come down on north side of Indy.

I live in the same area and lost a part of my cherry tree last night. Just finished cleaning it up.

  8. Jim Crews. I believe he started with Buckner as a freshman and then went to the bench when Wilkerson became a starter. I think he was the player who tipped the ball to Benson against Michigan to preserve the undefeated season. Of course, I could be wrong about everything.

Indiana Code 9-21-8-36. Always yield. Always. I'm on the Monon daily when in town. Mostly between 86th and Carmel Dr....I see near misses all the time.

Feel bad for all involved. Mistake and now several families will live with that forever.

I know that pedestrians have the right of way and when driving that's what I do. But when I was running on the roads, and now when I'm walking, I want to decide when I cross. I will deliberately stand back from the crossing so that drivers won't see me about to cross. When it is clear, I cross. That way drivers don't have to wonder what I am about to do.

That sounds like a really sad situation for all involved. Tragic.

Also a good reminder to not waive pedestrians on when you’re driving, and to still be very careful as a pedestrian when someone waives you on.

Excellent point. I do a lot of walking through round about intersections and a lot of drivers want to let me cross. However, many of the crossings have two lanes and the other lane might not stop. I always prefer to choose the time to cross myself. I know they are trying to be helpful, but it is better to let the pedestrian make the decisions.

I think Woody likes his rotations and doesn’t want to mess with them. Plus, let’s make them have Edey deal with our bigs who can step out some.

I think he likes them based on what he sees in practice every day. He goes with who he thinks will give them the best chance for success. CMW doesn't just roll with a hunch that some guy will out perform their practice work. I know we like to look at match ups and think we know what might work better, but I'm guessing most of the time coach knows best.

I think CJ seems like a good kid, but what are we basing this on? It’s certainly not anything he showed last year.

The kid has every single opportunity to earn meaningful minutes, including playing and by default with our injuries, and he was bad on both ends. I hope he figures it out, but I really hope we aren’t counting on him to be in the rotation at this point. Out of our current guards he is fifth in my mind. 🤷‍♂️

I like the measureables. He fits the mold of what CMW wants on this team. I'm sure he had the end of season conversation with Woodson. He knows what he needs to do to get on the court. Now we will see how bad he wants it. I'm an Indy area guy, so I pull a little harder for Indy kids. How hard CMW goes after filling that last scholarship will tell me a lot about how he feels about who we already have.

more worried about pharma ads personally

I participate in dry eye studies and have for about six years. I have learned through this experience to take anything a drug maker says with a huge grain of salt. I'm in the final phase of trials right before the company seeks approval. The studies I have been in are designed so that the drug gets approved. They control the criteria so that it looks promising. Not exactly a fair trial. And the amount of advertising money that flows into news organizations discourages and negative reporting about pharmacy activities.

Last year, the marina I use delivered my boat and the first time I took it out it started filling up with water. Bad enough that the bilge pump burnt itself out. They replaced it for free but would not admit that they failed to replace the plug before delivery.

This year they delivered the boat and it sat for a few weeks due to my wife’s back surgery. Uncovered it Saturday and tried starting it up but the battery was dead. By that time the marina was closed for the weekend so had to go into Advanced Auto. They hooked it up and it read zero. Bought a new battery from them for $2 bills and change. Started the boat up and the trim/tilt switch wouldn’t work. For you non- boaters- I couldn’t raise or lower my prop. Couldn’t leave our small, no wake lake all weekend.

Called the marina on Tuesday and asked them how this stuff could go wrong when the boat was just sitting on the lift, and whether they checked it out prior to delivery. No good answers and lost a great weather holiday weekend on the lake. Unfortunately, this marina is buying up their competitors so my options are limited.

I know, I know…first world problems. Still, it grinds me that customer service is so bad

First world problems for sure, but imagine what third world problems are. Never an excuse for poor customer service and that seems to be the case more and more.
